Everybody that is currently building a car...

Laid down some pinstriping; a dual line 3/16" on the bottom and 1/8" on the top, with a 1/8" space. It doesn't show up too well on this pic but I think it really accents the stance. It makes the car look longer, IMO; which is good because the car shrank about two feet in every direction with the flat black paint.

This pic also shows the rear spoiler, which I'm particularly proud of; it's off an '88 'stang LX, my first chop/channel job. I took 6 13/16" out of the middle and glassed it back together.

Looking good, Brickman. Sure is fun to get them out and finally drive them after all the work!!! Decided on color for the outside yet??

I like Mustang II fastbacks, I was an Engineer at ford in their day and thought they were and ok car for their time, The first gas crisis. more safety requirements fuel economy, etc. the M II has the most popular hot rod suspension since the Ford flathead with hyd brakes came out in 39.. a 9" rear can be a direct bolt in if you can find a 57 or 58 ford and the granada 11 inch rotors bolt on> The mustang II fast back was built in mexico after 78 and they had larger brakes and more horsepower from the minimum smog mexican 302. than the older usa cars yours looks neat

This is my first project, and she's a twenty-foot wonder. But she's a fun little monster and she su-u-u-u-re turns heads. Especially after I slipped a couple of washers under the cut-out plugs. :cool: I've got her threading the needle between irreverent and disrespectful.

I can't wait to put it into the Mustangs Northwest Roundup this year. A couple of years ago I heard they put the II's into the "Miscellaneous" category, along with the Pintos and pickups. I'll freakin' show 'em "Miscellaneous." :D

Had to put in some Sunday hours on the used to be red Merc, want to get it blocked, sealed and finish up the wiring and mechanicals so I can get to work on my own stuff.

Finally got "the look" I wanted on the front end. I found some bullet directional lights and built the front pan. Shot some sandable primer on it today, should be able to get it blocked and sealed next week. :) :)

Dave, you probably know my take on chopped tops by now, but I'll have to admit that the early Mercs looks way better chopped. Looks reeaaaaallll good, buddy. :)

Thanks Tech, means a lot coming from you!! Wait till I get going on the '27 coupe!! By your advice and a challenge from a friend of mine, there will be no chopping allowed. Reason being, everybody chops a T coupe, I chop all the stuff nobody else does, so I can't chop the T!!! Somehow, it all makes sense. Got to get the Merc out of the way to make room for the T, and a bit more work on the Ranchero.

I can just see you drivin' it now, sittin' tall and wearing a stovepipe hat. Ya just gotta love it :LOL:

P.S. As a matter of fact, now that I think about it, drivin' a tall T and wearin' a stovepipe hat would probably get you some press!!!!

Nope, I believe everything (and I do mean everything) is going to be Grabber Orange!!! Just ordered the Super Bell and the hairpins on Friday. By the time they get here, the Merc should be on it's way to the upholstery shop........

Dave, I've got 2 yards (I think) of upholstery cloth that is 54" wide that is left over from the last project I was building. I never got to the upholstery to finish it. It's black/white houndstooth from a '67 Camaro that was Hugger orange with white rally stripes. You might remember the car. It used the black and white cloth material with black leather trim on the seats. It's the original OEM material that I ordered special through a large trim shop and I've had it tucked away for years. All I have to do is find it. If you would like to use it on the T, I'd be most honored to send it to you as a contribution to the project. If you don't want it, I understand.

Tech, I'm going to try to find the orange vinyl for the seats like my Maverick Grabber had. If it is no longer available I would certainly take you up on the offer!! It sure would make for a nice contrast, wouldn't it.???

I had a nailhead in my willys and one in my 56 Cameo. good torque, good gas milage. My brotheer had a shop in Reno, Mostly Jeeps and 4 wd . He did a lot of nail head engine swaps, He liked carter wcd 2 barrels. Metering rods adjustable outside the carb, circular float chamber not much, uphill or down hill change in performance (important in a jeep). They will flow about twich as much as a stromberg 97 and the floats don,t stick, he had six on his hemi 36 ford coupe. Wcd's were on Gm stuff from the 30's and still on later amc products.

good ol' house of kolor.. marine blue..been to many car shows have not seen this color on anything...so thats good... it changes with the avaliable light..pictures dont really show it well

I got a question for you, Northcarolinada, are those Ford Hub Caps on smoothie wheels, and if so what year? I hate the darned baby moons that are on my smoothies as they dent everytime you try to put them on.

As for the truck, yesterday, I got the motor mount cross member modified so that my sanderson headers would fit, moved the motor and trans rearward one inch. Then had to drill new bolt holes in the frame to fasten them down. Got the headers on. Readjusted the clutch linkage and was so glad that the drive shaft yoke still had an inch of play (don't ask, should've measured four times and then cut once the first time). Was going to put the new exhaust on this morning while it was cool but it started pouring down rain.

I guess I didn't do to bad yesterday for an ol phart who can only work about a half an hour at a time before resting for 15 minutes.

good eye Duane.... they are 1942 ford passenger car caps they snap over outside held wheels... newer style..the older smoothie snapped on the inside..if you want to know where to get them let me know

North Carolina, That blue almost looks like neon lights. Havn't decided what color to paint the Desoto. But it needs alot more than just paint.

then again i wanted to be different .... thats why i went with a steel 27 and blue insted of a red 32 or 29.... i dunno

i am thinking that would be a bit much for the old desoto. I would be happy just to have a primered rolling chassis at this point. or at least out of the field.

Looks to be in about the same shape as mine. The neighbor kids snuck back there and broke all the windows out of mine...they were bb gun shot but they kept the weather out. cept yours has a little more paint on it. I had a huge set back on starting the 38. Lost my shop.... the wife and I are going seperate ways and she gets the house.....But the 38 is at Dad's so it is safe....

thats funny... you can prop alot of stuff up to make it look good in pictures...(thats the "good" side)

well after the blaster..there was some left...a bit of metal work...ok alot..but hey, its real solid now.... hhm kids with bb guns.. yep not good on old cars.. hope the hell i didn't do that when i was young...

well the desoto has made it this long..she'll be ready when you are..im sure of it.....so hang in there those time are rough.....

Well like you said the desoto has made it this long and she is still solid. The doors open and close like they did when they were new. Did i mention this is a two door sedan? There is alot of potential for it and if it takes another 2 years before i have the chance to start on it then it takes another 2 years. But I don't forsee it taking that long to get started.

I didn't make our show because of outside forces but I am primered and my buddy's even through a couple stripes on there while I was at work. I have been cruizin' her around town and so far she's doing great. I have the new carpet and the console almost done so the interior will be my project for this weekend. I have already had more fun in that old chevy, all the work has been forgotten, now I want it done!!:D What really great fun this hobby is eh boy's?:p :cool: :D
