Looking good, Brickman. Yup, it's always fun, some days are just a lot more fun than others.!!!!
Well, everybody left me alone today so I got to work on my stuff....Sometimes that's dangerous. Sorry if anyone is offended, but I turned my '27 Coupe into my '27 Roadster. I'm going to put in on a pinched Deuce frame with the nailhead motor and the quick change rear. I guess I just like roadsters better. Going to take it to the guy who does my blasting, then get to work building a cap for the body and a windshield frame. I'm also going to fab up a track roadster front and a hood top.
Humble begininz' ................ Lookin' forward to watchin' the progress Dave.
I like to watch other people work. HEHEHE:LOL:
"Sorry if anyone is offended, but I turned my '27 Coupe into my '27 Roadster."
Great idea Dave. It'll look way better as a roadster than it would as a chopped top coupe or even a telephone booth coupe :)
Had to have another roadster, the old gang is planning a trip to the LA Roadster show for the spring of '07, should be about 15 cars from this area all going there and all roadsters. Couldn't stand the thought of missing the trip cuz I had a coupe!!!!!!
Today was the first time in a long while I've been able to work on the "Z". Didn't have too much ambition after the weekend festivities, so I'm turning some "T nuts" on the lathe to be used to bolt the mid plate in place. "T nuts'' will slide through the 1''x2'' and 1''x1'' square tubing I'm using so the tubes don't collapse when I tighten 'em. Decided to use some square tubing to frame the firewall so I'll have a flat surface for the aluminum. Aluminum firewall will be sandwiched between the square tubing and the mid plate so It'll all fit together nice and clean. That's the plan anyway. :)
Good to hear you got to spend a bit of quality time with your maro. What's next on the agenda???
I gotta' finish tackin' in chassis parts from the firewall forward. Then it's weld 'er up time. I spent the better part of the day (Didn't work too hard) on these t-nuts for the mid plate. (I looooze' track of time when I run the lathe). HEHEHE Next weld 'em in, drill 'em 1 size bigger and tap for cap screws. Maybe that's why it's takin' me soooo long ........... I spend time on the most insignificant things sometimes. Well,....... if they keep the engine from fallin' out ... I guess they're not too insignificant:LOL:
This may be it for July. Lotta' ironz' in the fire this month.
Yup, but the insignificant things are what make a car stand out from the crowd. Even if 3/4 of the people who look at the car don't even began to see all the little details, the guys who know cars will notice all the little things.
Atleast both those rides ,daves and pros, there both floor pan down and look like a rod,not sure what I got goin anymore, people come over to see and say whats that!!!
Well I been workin on this too much,ITs like a money hole the more shiny stuff u put on it the more shiny stuff it needs, kinda never endin so I covered it back up and flipped the cab up on the frame, sandin and grindin is messy but easy on the pocket book for now!!!
n/m
Everything is looking good on the pick up, Shawn. Keep at it!! And you are right, it always costs more and takes longer than you thought. Especially when you take the time to do things right. When it's done it's all worth it when you don't have to apologize to anyone (especially yourself) for cutting corners!!!!
thank you Brickman!!!
It's getting closer every day. There just might be enough room for a tire under there.

Looking good, Pro. When are you hoping to have it on the track??? Anxious to hear how much difference the new chassis made.
All I can say is............. soon.
Going great it looks like pro60, I love those rear disks.:D
Very nice shawnlee 28, I know about the "Multiplying pretty's" syndrome, it can be hard on the pocketbook if not kept in check!:D
I like the roadster look also Dave, it's going to be a nice cruizer'.
I have been working on the interior, installed the kick panels, door panels, and I'm working on the rear panels with one already up. I installed a new z-gate shifter yesterday and finished the console. My wife has all the material cut to cover it so that will be done today with a little luck. Like you said, one pretty just leads to another!:3dSMILE:
Im awaiting surgery on my back so I havent done much lately to my 1959 Impala 2dr. I have a high performance 348 Im dropping in it but still need to get a tranny and some other parts for it. I will be getting a settelment from the car accident I was in that messed up my back and Im going to use a portion of that to get the Impala on the road. It has been sitting since 1978 so It will probally have lots of bugs that will need to be worked out. By the way love the Forum, I check it out daily now :D
Pro 60 I love your car that thing is sweet!! Looks like you have o in a ton of wrench time, nice work!!!! I would love to prostreet my 59 but dont think I could bring my self to take a cutting torch to it lol
So, don't use a torch on it....use a plama cutter!!! If not that, how about a sawzall????
LOL yeah guess I could do that. When I started with the car I was planning on doing most of it stock but plans have changed More POWER :D

I dont think I will go to the extreme you have with you car lol, I just checked out your pic that is going to be a SWEET car when your done. Is there anything left of the original camaro other than the roof and windshield? That is definetly built for speed lol
Yup. I kept the vin tag too.   :LOL:Quote:

So I can put plates on it :)
Well this thread is where the action is but I just started another thread on the Bebops 29 roadster body that was delivered to me this morning. Mainly I included some pictures for the "as delivered" condition of the body, but I have already sprayed the interior 1" tubular framework with rattle-can Rustoleum and two days ago attached the running board brackets and front fender braces to the frame. I got a beautiful stainless dropped headlight bar from Speedway and then realized this rules out an external horn. Well I was never hung up on an "Ahooga" horn anyway so maybe I'll just get a "Beep Beep" horn and hang it on the firewall (later). Overall I am really pleased with the Bebops body so far and it came all in one piece ready to bolt on the frame with steel plates in the floor prealigned for the body holes in the Brookville frame. Now I have to bleed the brakes and hook up the parking brake cables which will be much easier to do before I put on the body. Supposedly "All I have to do" is jack up the body and roll the chassis under it and then bolt it down, but maybe the rear shock tower mounts will need a cut out on each side of the glass floor followed by some sort of fiberglass bubble over the shock mounts, but we shall see how it goes. Let's just note that I have wanted a Model A roadster (in any form) since 1955 and it always eluded me for financial reasons so to have one in my driveway is a big step for me (finally!).

Hey Don, how about mounting a Bermuda Bell in the floor :)
That'll keep the kids guessing, huh BBBob????
thats a good reason. :cool:Quote:

Tech1, Although there are two other ways out of my home site to major roads, a third option goes down the street past Dick Ivey's Model A restoration shop and then over a one lane bridge. I have nearly been smashed several times going over that one lane bridge even though I slow down and repeatedly "Sound my horn". I think a Bermuda bell would be far too faint for that situation. I would like to avoid that bridge altogether, but the lure of perhaps finding Dick Ivey with his garage door open is a temptation so the only horn for me is a LOUD horn! The question is whether Dick Ivey will be driving his '29 Model A Sport coupe, his red '53 Ford convert. or his recently acquired hi-po Mustang II convert. The "29 and the '53 both sport badges with "First in Class" at Hershey! What a guy, he doesn't even mind my vulgar chrome valve covers on a SBC 350 in a '29 frame, soon to be '29 roadster, he just likes cars, but obviously favors Fords!

Congrats on getting the body for your roadster Don!! Sounds like a nice piece.. Now you have lots more fun things to do!!
:3dSMILE: Bermuda Bell is the neatest sound! Especially if you creap up behind someone in the parking lot then give it a kick. You get that instant "What the -----?" look as they jump out of their shorts. :LOL:Quote:

With the narrow cowl on Don's car, and the booster/MC under the floor there probably isn't room enough to mount one. The originals had a large, melodious sound. I haven't heard any of the repops to know if they've duplicated that. I would guess too that a glass floor wouldn't provide the same resonance that a steel floor did. Be an interesting experiment.
Now, to deal with not having enough room to mount the mechanical one under the floor, I found this electrical one. At 90db it's fairly loud, but haven't heard it to know if it has the richness of tone and that trail off of the ring at the end. http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...+10201/c-10101
Perhaps a more practical application for you Don, given the conditions on the bridge you described, is this 130db freeway blaster. You could darn near make their ears bleed with this compact baby (or two). http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...+10201/c-10101
Take a look at the rest of Whitney's horn section, there are tons of choices.
I would really like to hear what one of those bermuda bells sounds like. I think I have an idea, maybe like a thai pedal taxi. I like that idea, and the caddy horns also. The louder the better.
Thats a great body Don, what a great score. It should be a great rod.:D
I finally got the carpet in and the new console bolted in. I have some mounting to do to install the shifter, I bought a z-gate, they seem to be alright, I like it better than the hurst that you have to pull the whole shift lever up and down. I hooked up the dash gauges, next the console stuff. I am looking forward to getting some tunes going in the car. The wife is recovering the rear seat so things are rolling along nicely .
Looking good, Brickman. Keep the updates coming. Some of us need the motivation!!!!
That looks really nice Brickman, thats going to be awesome when its done!!

Hey guys I'm new to the custom Hot Rod building. I've worked on Jeeps and other Off Road vehicles but this summer I started a hot rod project with a '40 chevy coupe. I hope to get more in to hot rod building as the years go on so any help that you experienced rodders have to share with a new guy would be much apreciated.
Jeremy
Welcome to CHR Jeremy .......... I had a 40 Chevy once. (Panel Truck).
Got Pics. ?
im 15 and building a 1934 ford truck with a barn fresh look i just had the frame rails put together im now buying parts for the front end im going to run a 4'in magnum dropped axel and in the rear ill be using a 8'in ford to give the lil truck power im going to put a 350/350 combo hopefully in a month or 2 i can start to work on it again i have plans to chop it 2 1/2 in ill update this with some pictures soon
i'll be getting some pics soon so i'll post them up. I need some help. most of the parts i'm getting for this project is a 1984 gmc jimmy that i had sitting around. I pulled the 350 4 bolt main and its transmission out. I'm having trouble finding out what transmission it is though. I thing it might be a 700 but i'm not sure it doesn't have the pan design of a 350 or 400. any web pages i could look at for tranny types would help.
