Windshield obstruction s'not all that bad????:whacked:
Quarter panels should be here Sept. 7 or 8. Then I can temporarily Clecos pin everything together to locate all the cage tubes. :)

No great progress on the chebbie pickup, got the doors stretched to fit the "slightly altered" door openings. Still a long way to go on it. [/QUOTE]
Gonna be kewl when done tho Dave.
Mine's gonna experience a big slow down too. Got a gi - huge - ic sign order to get done that will eat up most of Sept. .... over N' above the day to day stuff. So I'll just work-eat-sleep for the next couple weeks or so. I'll still check in @ CHR during the eat part of that cycle tho. He HE HE:LOL:
Thought I would try one more.
Cleaned up the firewall , Installing eng.
still more work
gerrrrrrrrrrrrr
Got the eng. in frenched the headlights .
Looking awesome Pro70, I am liking that blown motor you have, very nice!
Low 49, you have a great ride there, it looks like you have doen alot to it already. Your trunk lid looks like mine, very rough! great job though.
Tore the Fairlane down in April and then hauled butt to Oklahoma when mom had a minor stroke. Didn't seem too minor at the time. The crazy old broad had the constitution of a sixty year old and didn't look much over seventy. Now she looks and acts her age.........86. Still has a warped sense of humor though.
Anyway, finally got back to the shop and continued to hack and slash. Narrowed a nine inch and tossed the 8 inch. Detroit locker and 4.11 gears and a 2400 stall lockup converter. Replaced the rotten panel where the battery was with new tin and put the batt in the trunk. Major surgery on the crossmember to drop the aod a couple inches and worked the e-brake linkage over to clear. Just have to make up a cable to link to the new explorer disc rears. Rebuilt the doors with all new fuzzies and track guides and made the hinges new again. In my spare time I finally got the damn water spots off the windows. Major PITA.
Quarter panels came in today. I'm ready for Sunday afternoon. See ya.:)
My new 4lb fiberglass bumpers came in today! ummmm..... that's all.:D
Here's A shot of the wifes 37. this was about 7yrs ago. Its tore down for minor repares and a met red paint. It was suposed to hav been done befor the 49:CRY: . still POed at me:mad:
Here's another one, Had this 30+ yrs. Just passed it down tomy youngest son last year.Pic is about 12yer ago.
Nice rides Low49, your new project should be awesome.
I have been sanding for days, pounded out all the dents and scim coated them, and do more sanding. I got my metal for my roll pans so it's going to be alot more filling and sanding. Sanding and sanding and sanding!!!:D
Sounds like the pro70 mobile will be hot rodding soon huh?
Na, It's all smoke N' mirrorz' @ this point. Lotsa' blocks, clamps & rope to keep it together. Just to get a handle on how everything will fit together so i can start "cage' fabrication. Puttin' it together with welds & Bolts will be down the road a ways. Lookin' forward to test fitting the new quarter panels next chance I get. :)Quote:

As I look at ur current pics, it dosen't really look like ur car was a car at 1 time, just a pile of parts clamped togther cause the only thing left of the original body is the roof and firewall, the rest is gone, but I saw the b4 pic so I know it was a compleat car at 1 point. It's gonna look awsome when it's done though.:) I'm not makin fun of the Z pro, I'v just never seen a car so hacked up but then again, I'v never seen a pro street build pics b4 I saw the pics of your car when I came to this site.Quote:

I tried to clear up the pic a little and I think I may have gotten it a little better, it's still purple but I darkened it and balanced the colors so the roof shows a little betterQuote:

Tnanks for the kind words brickman. I know exactly what you mean about the sanding. lol I don't consider my 49 a ratrod, but untill I finish all the bodywork and paint, It will fit rite in while working on it.:p I would rather be driving and enjoying the ride then have it setting in the shop untill done.
time sure does fly, ive been working on my ride for almost 4yrs now, almost there, just needs to go thru smog, new interior, some bodywork and a paint job. its nothing fancy but hey these cars arent made anymore either.
Well, after much deliberation, I decided to put a different style anti-roll bar in the "Z". I spent many hours on the one that's in there now. Made CNC aluminum end housings with grease seals so the bar could be lubed. But the control arms have only through bolts mounting them to the anti roll bar. Even though they were machine fit they still had a slight amount of play. Bad news was that "slight amount" was multiplied to about an inch of roll out at the axle ends. I always worried that play would beat the bee-gee-bees out of those 3/8" through bolts, so now it will have a splined shaft that should go nowhere. So now, unlike some eastern countries, I should have a smoother transfer of power. :) He He HE:)
Through bolt set up it has now.
..
I'm ready, The glitch in that plan tho, is I have things on the honey do list that need to get done B 4 cold weather. Then there's the STRONG suggestion sumbudie should build a hope chest for Jenni for Christmas. E.T.A. for the fiberglass front end is on or before Nov. 11. So, my goal is to get the list whittled down by then, so I can spend the winter months on the "Z". Well that's the plan anyway, sometimes plans get interrupted tho. He He HEQuote:

my 55 is still setting it makes me angry i dont have the proper funds but april 2005 she should be on the road
I just got a block to start building a 454 for my chevy... I am 19 and this is my first engine build and I might need a little help. I have alot of plans for my truck, but I am just a poor college student, so it is gonna take a while...
I have to put the '51 away for the winter tomorrow, strip the '83 benz of all it's good parts and send it off to the crusher within a week or 2 ( the unibodies really bad and mom says I can only have 2 cars ) and I'll get the '67 Falcon ready to be put on the road as a daily driver, needs master cyl and alternator or regulator.
