Sent a bell end and axle off to Wilwood to be fitted for brakes. It'll take around 6-8 weeks to get them done, so I use the time to get some honey-do projects done.
Sounds like you'll have her sitting down on her own wheels soon Pro70, that will be very cool huh?
I had a great cruize in the car, everything went well but she overheated bad in that bumper to bumper traffic in Branson. I am thinking I am going to have to put an electric fan on it to handle the slower speeds. The small flex fan I used to cool her with just isn't enough to do the job.
Okay, so I found a couple of things. First I went through my receipts and realilized I never had the O.E.M. radiator flushed, one of my friends had cleaned and painted it for me is all. I also had the hose on the wrong tube on my new recovery tank.:p So the radiator will be done thursday with a new straight spout on the bottom. That should also let me put a bigger fan on the engine along with an electric one for in town. The wife and I got the last arm rest in the rear done. Everything in the interior is done now except the headliner. Missed our appointment today for the headliner because she isn't running.
Sorry to misuse your current post Brickman, but I am so glad to see we're back up on the old forums. :) :)

Hi,
I saw a picture of a four bar rear that came apart on a rod run in STREET RODDER a while back, so I have used a cold chisel to nick the exposed threads to make it harder for the nuts to back off. My thought is that after I get the necessary wheel alignment I should tack weld the nuts to the bolts? What do you think? In particular when I attach the bracket for the front Panhard bar to the batwing, there is very little thread left over on the two bolts that hold the right two bars. Comments/suggestions?

I've used Locktite for years in the aviation field with nothing ever coming apart. Considering the extremes in temperature and vibration it has worked quite well on just about any threaded bolt and nut. If you weld the nuts, what happens when you have to realign again???? I agree with a drilled shank and castleated nut proceedure or even safety wiring the nut. Having to cut the bolt or break the nuts [ouch] would be pretty frustrating if the alignment was needed again.
The Nailhead motor for the roadster has been traded away, going to use one of my trusty FE engines instead. Part of the trade on the Nailhead was another interesting project car to become a cruizer/daily driver/parts runner car. As soon as I get it home I'll post some pics and reveal the plan!!!! I need to cut back big time on the number of projects I have, most everything except the roadster may wind up on the "for sale" block.
The roadster pickup is finished, and is a complete success. I have been cruising the wheels off it for almost 2 months now. and can't get over how great it works. I have won a trophy for "Best Street Rod", got coverage in the local paper, and put 1500 miles on it so far. Everybody right from little kids to old greybeards like myself light up and smile when they see it.

Your new ride really looks great, Brian!!! All the hard work is really worth it, isn't it.
Change in plans on the nailhead, it will be for sale on Ebay unless someone here is interested in it.
Not a problem oldf100fordman, it's for everybody, feel free.:D
What a great looking roadster pu Brianrupnow, and you look great in it!:D It must be very exciting to have her all done and up and running, I am very happy for ya man!:D
I been gone for awhile, Looks like CHR has too ?_ I got the bright idea to upgrade the operating systems on the 'puter and things didn't go too smooth. Devices had to had updated driver installed some drivers for OSX Tiger are not available so they had to be pitched for new stuff. Never know how many plug in devices one depends on 'til they don't work any more._
Got a few 'round the house jobs to do before I can resume work on the "Z". I built a back hoe attachment for the track loader to make the jobs go a little easier. I'll post a couple pics._
Got the ball rollin' getting_ brakes for the rear of the "Z". Sent an axle and a rear housing bell end to Wilwood to be fitted for brakes._
Back hoe build
More Progress
Oooops. LQQks like I got the first 2 pics. switched around. :D
Ready to go.
Putting railroad ties in the ground for a Habitat for Humanity utility shed. Forgot to get pics. of it diggin' the trenches, too excited about usein' it I guess.
A long way to go but here is the project!!!
Another pic!
Here is one with my Dad. I know I couldnt have held on to my first car!
And I'll bet it will be even more fun doing with your Dad!!!!
I've got the Ranchero back in my garage. Got some back and neck problems so I can't do a heck of a lot of work on it----just some little things. Hopefully I can hit it full time some time soon.
I've got more projects then I have time, money, or space. A couple of them are probably going to have to be sold. The Ranchero, the '27 Roadster on Deuce rails, or the '71 Ford pickup (mild custom). If anyone is interested in any of them, let me know.
My projects have slowwed down. I did acomplish putting the sunvisor on the '51 Chevy, but still havn't fabricated the middle mount I was never sent. I'm slowing down on the chevy, getting ready to start building a T performance '23 T bucket. The Chevy's body work was mostly done by my uncle, who did half fassed body work to it, pop rivited panals, lots of bondo ( used incorrectly ). The only thing I was left to do was block sand and str8ten the bondo out. So, I'm going to rip out all the crap body work and do it correctly, but I'm gonna get a start on the Bucket first. I'm still using rattle can primer, and spraying the car so it is all temporarly primed, to help void rust. My plans for the T bucket are ither a used 305 or a 330 HO deluxe crate motor, ither 1 with a TH350, tan interior, british racing green exterior, with the motor being neon green ( Dupli engine enamel is called hot rod green ) and because the gauges compleate a look that a car has, ither VDO old tyme gauges or silver platinum gauges.
All right Pro70! Is there anything you can't build!:D Very cool!
I hope that everything is going well for you Dave, and I hope that you don't have to part with your babies and everything gets sunny in your life.:D
My 53 F-100 has been put on the back burner due to school. I started night classes in welding and work full time. My 84 GMC Sierra (full size) will soon be getting air ride. I have the parts still in boxes neatly put away until I get the time to do it right. I just bought another S-10 (#6) and will be using it to drive daily it needed a new carb and general maintence because it sat for four years. The "while I'm at it" bug bit. I have replaced the suspension bushings and stripped all the Bell Tech stuff off of my other S-10 to be used on this S-10. I also will start taking black smithing classes on Sundays. At this rate I think the Ford will done for my daughter to take to prom. She is three now.
Well, if not for prom, then graduation for sure (from college) ??????
You think that fishing takes patience!!?? It seems sometimes that time is standing still, moving in millimeters instead of feet. Slowly but surely it starts taking shape, I am almost two years in and I may be half way, maybe. But every little thing that you do just puts you much closer to completion, at least thats the attitude that I am trying to keep, the hardest thing for me is to have the patience to take the time to do it right instead of throughing it together just to be able to go down the road.
Got my new rear shocks on today , it rides and handles alot better.
This point in time - some evaluation!
Yellow 77 lubricant, which Electricians use to pull many wires through too small a conduit, comes to mind.
Or - to put it another way, can one put 10lbs. into a 5 lb. bag?
Awaiting the final decision
Great garage scene Walt!
I see you got your Stude parking sign, but where's the one for Unis??;) Comeon, she's probably already jealous that you added a new one to the harem, give the ol' girl a break!
Great looking pair, Walt. Is it going to become a Studelac??? Are we going to see some Weld Wheels on the Roadster???
We got a bit more progress on the Ranchero. Set in the mock-up motor and did some roughing in on some more seams. The motor plates for the engine should be in this week, the I'll start on getting them mounted and the upper A-Arm mounts built. Lots of room for headers and everything else under the hood.
Sails pace for the "Z" but fall is coming, so historically that usually means more available time.
Working on the rear brakes. Slow goin'.:(
Grand- daughter was instruemental in sign placement, ha.
Progress in past few days - Stude moved to work bay, elevated and interior removed, stripping down to bare bones for evaluation and final analysis. Still vacilating as to what will propell this dream of mine. As to harem- Stude is now called Annie, found on our anniversery date... appropos!
Unis after cruise time this weekend is now over in the last bay comtemplating new paws. "Welds" a possibility.
Dave. A Arm mounts you mention would be welcome in lieu of my transverse cushions.
Have a great time with what is left of the weekend,my Redhead wants to ride before snowballs. :)
Looking great ProZ
The Maro is really looking good, Pro. Hope you get a bit more time to get back on it, gonna be a rocket !!
Walt, Studeleac would be way kewl!!!!! Let me know if you want to upgrade the front suspension, I have some good parts sources for you to check out.
Thanks Walt, Dave.
Looks like we'll all have projects this winter.:)
I went for visitation with my 57 Plymouth on Thursday (it's in the body shop   ).
The works not going real fast but it is steady progress. Now that about 1/2 the paints off the car and I can see the metal, I'm VERY happy about how solid the car is overall.
Hey Mike, great news !!! At least you do have visitation rights!!!!
Hang in there pro70, every little bit adds up. We are going to have some great advances this winter, I can feel it. Pro, that engine is going to be mean huh?
I mounted a couple new chrome goodies on my engine today along with new shocks on the rear. My next thing to do will be clean and paint everything that isn't already underneath the car. I want to get that done before it gets too cold. Can you tell I live on a gravel road by that pic?
Brickman, not only can I tell you live on a gravel road, I can tell that that gravel dust will probably find it's way back on the rod. Heeheee. Been there, done that. But it's not a bad thing. Other rodders will definitely know that you drive your car.
I hear that oldf100fordman, it has been so dry here in southern Missouri this summer that the dust just hangs like a cloud all over town. But what the heck, thats why there is car wash goodies.:D
Got the hood back on the Ranchero, need to build some bushings for the hinges to make it fit tighter, maybe this week start fabbing the cowl induction scoop. Just more slow and steady progress. I guess that is better than no progress at all!!!!
Spent the afternoon blocking and primering the hood for Bill's Firebird..
PS. The broom stick for a prop rod is only temporary!!!!!
