Sounds like a great truck 81, I too would like to see some pic's.
Great looking interior Dave, I like the console. Already set up for an aftermarket shifter huh?
Yes it is, Brickman. An old leftover Hurst Shifter from some previous project re-do!!! Don't ever throw anything away, you know.
I like the metal fabricating too, good looking console. I need to finish the fabricating on mine too, I need to raise the shifter some and cover the wood with vinyl. I will also need to install the window switches somewhere. That console is short because of a bench seat?
well guys i just bought a 1965 Galaxie 352 4bbl for $800. i need paint and a rebuild and some interior work but the car is super solid i have never seen such a solid car for such a cheap price. im looking forward to working on it as it is my first ford ill keep you guys posted and see if i can get some pics
Yup, stock bench seat, Brickman. Done in red and white pleats!!!! Got the front clip hung on it today. Making some progress even if it is slow. The truck has rolled pans front and rear, still have to do some fab work and french in the license plates, build some nerf bars. I didn't like the '71 front end with the plastic "egg crate" grilles so I put this one on, think it is from a '68 maybe. Don't really remember. I used to have a huge selection of old Ford pickups and pieces.
Tyler, get those pics taken, sounds like a very nice old Ford you're working on!!!!!
and here's a shot with the front clip on, still has a ways to go til it's ready for paint......
Ya ..... Al thats the same grill I have in my 67' . I like how you molded the head light bezels in .:DQuote:

T L :)
Yeah Tree, you're right. '67 has the steel grille and the smaller parking lights. Thanks on the bezels, bit of time in that front end!!!!! The rest of the cab and box seams are filled, too.
Nice work on the ford Dave, there is one of those trucks in our club, great looking trucks.
thats Freakin awsome Dave !Quote:

I really like your Rancharo " My wife won't shut up about it "
"bit of time in that front end!!!!!" YA! I'd say so ....
T L :)
Neat looking truck, looks like its going to have some class when its done.Quote:

Thanks guys.
This one is for Dave, cut that iron up!!!!I think this may be One that dave will like!!!!!!And I thought it may be interesting to kennyd ,since the nomad was at the sema show!!
Yup, looks like fun to me!!!!! Is that yours Shawh???? Looks to be a neat project. I will be starting on a Ford Wagon some time in the future, might be a '55 done up as a gasser to go race Scooter with, or a '78 LTD to do as a super cruizer.
Thats a buddies project ,we cut up a 66 chevelle ss for the parts!!! 66 malibu 2 door hardtop!!!I got to help and learn and see a 66 chevelle ss get cut up!!
looks like agood project , i really like a 64 and 65 ,they made 2 door wagons that year just no hard tops.
That will be a great looking wagon when it is done, they are doing it up on one of those on chop/cut/and rebuild on the speed channel.
I have almost conquered the "Rough Run" gremlins from my engine. A kit in the carb, putting a new hard line from the fuel pump to the carb, moving the fuel line farther away from the headers has helped it not to vapor lock anymore. It isn't staying in time because it had a badly broken distributor cap on it, which I have changed, and it is really starting to respond. I actually got it to kick down into passing gear without dying today!:D That Was Fun!!!
Like that wagon, looks like a nice project. This week I scored a nice jag rear for the 29 , and this weekend we're working on Jeff's Merc as he has returned from Iraq safely. Yesterday installed a B&M kit,Lokar shifter and dipstick in the turbo 400. Went to put in the starter and of course it hits the block clocked one way,and the headers clocked another. No wonder progress is slow.
Project progress is always slow around here, tanked!!! Tell Jeff welcome home!!!!
The vette front suspensions in, Pontiac 455, and now working on supports.

Yep, I kinda knew this. But, it does line up perfectly with the rear diff yoke:LOL: , I know that doesn't matter, but I couldn't resist all the extra room for the steering box, and master cylinder. Plus, it helps compensate for heavy drivers:D Really, I'm using Shockwaves in the front.:whacked:Quote:

Great progress 48olds, is the body on that car similar to my 48 chevy? Ok I'll bit and ask what "Shockwaves" on the front are. Also what are the tubes for behind the engine and what year corvette front suspension did you use and how much of it? Very nice I would add.:D
I believe the cars are similar, mine is a fastback(sedanette). Shockwaves are just front airbags with the shocks built in, they are made by Airride suspension, so I can compensate if the car leans a little, from the engine being offset. The tubes run from the front suspension attaching point, back to the firewall, from behind the firewall, they will attach to a body mount, just to stiffen the front end up a little. I used the upper A-arm, knuckle, and calipers from a 77 vette, but I kept the original 48 lower A-arm, just added a bracket for the vette lower ball joint. Thanks for the compliment.Quote:

Very cool 48olds, that is interesting the way you incorperated the corvette parts into your car. That took some serious thought, I wonder if that would have been an easier thing to do than stripping down to the bare frame and welding in the mus II like I did. I was wondering why you felt the you needed the frame reinforcing, are you packing alot of hp into her?
Here are some updated pics of my prject

Thanks, it took some serious measurement, but I work in the automotive industry, and measurement with a CMM and various precision tools is what I do. It was definately cheaper for me to do it this way, I already had the front frame section from the vette, so that also made it easier for me to measure and copy the upper A-arm placement, we also make a large shock mount for trucks were I work, when I cut it in half, it fit the lower vette ball joint perfectly, so I had a perfect pre-formed bracket for the lower A-arm. I'm running a 455(punched to 462) Pontiac, with a mild rebuild, I really put the frame reinforcments in, to help support the extra loads on the frame, for the air suspension, the car is going to be as low as I can get it:3dSMILE: I already have a tubing bender, so I figured I need to use it:o and sometimes I get carried away:HMMM:Quote:

Great pics, Nothing better than build pictures, looks like quality work going on. Due to my inability to use a computer correctly I was just able to load some pics in the build section of the gallery.
Gonna be a very nice chebbie, Travis!!! Please keep us updated on the progress.
I like that '48 Olds, going to be a nice car and very unique when it's done. It certainly won't get lost in the crowd of red Camaro's!!!!!!
Dang 48olds, a 462! That baby is going to be a rocket ship!! I like what your doing, keep us informed.
Well, there it sets. As soon as the holidays are over and I get my '71 done gonna get back on the Ranchero
Dave, I think you can see her pouting!:D She is feeling a little neglected, but looking good. Is that going to be a spoiler on the front?
I got my rebuilt 350 short block out of the shop yesterday, I am very excited, can't wait to start putting it together. I went to my buds house and cleaned up a set of heads I have and ground the valves today. Guides are ok but I need to get new umbrella seals and they can go back together. Then it's assembly time and into the Chebby!! I think some new chrome may be in order huh guys?! I love chrome goodies! I am excited to get the ol' 305 out of her especially after I got it hot last summer, it never really ran right again after that.
I picked up a set of 64 cc chamber heads with 194 valves and ground them today. I mounted them to my new short blk and painted them. Did I mess up using etching primer and acrylic enamel on the engine or should I have gone with heat resistant paint?
looks good brickman , far as the paint go, i've used both and didnt see a lot of dif.Quote:

It works ok, use the same method most of the time. Looks great, Brick.
Thanks guys, thats great to know, I was a little leary. I do love that color and there was no other way to get it. I am very excited to get it in my car and start rebuilding the little 305. I may put it back in when the next project comes along, hell you can't just stop at one!!:D :D
Got Bill's Firebird jammed and back together enough to get it all in primer this weekend. Bill's giggly, first time he has seen it all in one color since we started on it... Block and Prime a couple more times, then it's off to the paint booth. Neat car, for a GM, 4 speed with 4 wheel disc brakes, now has a SBC for motivation.

dave, looks like a neat car, but do it really need 2- 4 speeds?
C'mon Mike, it was early !!!!!!! Must of been sucking up too many paint fumes yesterday!!!!!
thought you was gonna say a GM needed all the help it could get. :HMMM:Quote:
