Have you decided what to do about the glass? "Hear from the guy?
Nothing yet. I'm waiting for Wally to let me know if he called or not. The chassis guy wants to weld in the tabs for the glass, but without it being there, it's kinda hard to do it.Quote:

Nice stang Jazz looks about ready for summer:toocool:
I got a 67 289 stang rebuild that I'll be stating on this summer for my sister&brother in law.

After longer than you want to know, my 46 pickup should see service this summer. Would have been last summer if I had been satisfied with things already done. But instead kept messing with the motor.
Now, I'm messing with the brakes, trying to install some lightweight Willwood units on the front. After that I need to paint the bed (its body work I did this winter), put on some tail lights and roll on.
A few of its particulars: Monoleaf springs on all four corners, Magnum 4 inch dropped and narrowed tube axle, stainless cross steering, Vega box, dropped steering arms, 8 inch Granada rear, full reverse steel rims around, 1956 Ford 292 bored to 305 and lightened with every aluminum item available (they are normally heavyweights), and shorty running boards with self made rubber wraps. Gross vehicular weight should end up around 2800 lbs.
I know a lot of readers dont know what the 46 even looks like. Out of over 10,000 members here, only two of us have 42-47 Ford pickups (also known as jailbars), but I think it will at least be NEAT, maybe COOL.

Thanks BlownGoat!:D
I'm really excited and alittle skeered! LOL
Heck, it's been a year and a half Jazzstorm and I still get nervous!:whacked:
What a cage pro60!! I could never even get in there let alone get out. It should be a safe car to run, great looking work.
I would like to see some pic's of your truck 46yblock, sounds like a good one.
My '48 got a new steering column and E-brake lever out of an '89 Camaro today. Engine in and working on altenator bracket

Brickman, I have tried to post the few photos I have with no luck. Either this computer is too slow or the photo files are too large. Will make another attempt in a week or two after a friend comes over to photograph.
The front disc brake conversion is becoming a problem and drain in the pocket.
Today I made my 3rd trip to the machine shop. This time it was the clevis that fits into the brake arm. The clevis' threaded shaft was too big for the new pushrod that goes into the new MC. There is a good chance a fourth trip will be needed. The adaptor for the MC allows it to hang down in the rear, too far down. Returned it to the maker but half expect him to tell me it is to specs.
I have only a few tubes left to go, but they will take by far the longest to install. Something to do with a "Non-Hot--Rod" list of "To-Do's".

Now that doesn't make me feel any better! LOL:LOL:
Hubby and his friend(the guy who built the engine) keep saying they are going to put a govenor(sp?) on it:mad:
Hey, I think nervous is good when your starting out Jazzstorm, it keeps your mind on the right track. Doing it right comes natural to seasoned vets but I have to double and triple check everything!:D
Just a few more huh Pro70!? Dang man, can't see in there now.
i recently changed out the 350 turbo trans in my 55' chevy that had a bad leak ( like 1- 2 qts over the weekend) in it for about a year or so for another 350 turbo that a friend of my dad was going to scrap. it was free and i replaced the usual front/ rear seals, filter, modulator, pan gasket, tv cable, cleaned it up and painted it and swaped it in...hard work when you don't have a lift. runs and drives fine. and no pesky leak!!then i had to reinstall the plastic spedo drive gear on the output shaft cause the retainer clip came off. i also installed a set of lake pipes to continue my custom theme on this car. as for my model A, i 've just been trying to obtain a rear spring and set of headlights for it off e-bay. i keep getting out bid last min. so no luck yet on that project.**)
I'm building a 65 chevelle 2 door wagon. It has a 427 sbc, wanting to put a 5 speed in it and a dana 60.Right now i'm rebuilding the body on it.Wanting to put and C5 front suspension in it.I will post some pictures of it later.

Welcomr to CHR Kustombuilder and wruckster, glad to have you aboard. Looking forward to seeing some pics, sound like great projects. We love pic's here.:D I am finishing the new steering column install and tomorrow it will be getting the steering hooked up. It's been a long time since it looked like this:
This weekend I got the other Bear Claw latch installed in the glass doors so now both doors open/close. Also got the 1pc glass front held on and pretty much lined up, just have to cut/re-weld one mount about 1" over farther. Next weekend will be lining up and mounting the hood with the Dzus fasteners.
Man guys I don't know where to start, my car got overhauled almost!!!
There are a few guys in our local club that are KennyD quality builders and they have decided to take on my ride for exchange of some building expertice which I can provide.....soooo.......Things are really happening for my car!!!!:D I am really freaked out guys because I have done my building part(2 weeks worth of labor!!!!) and they came and took my Cheby!! They are saying some BS about the next time I see my '48 I will be able to drive it!!!:D :D Painted!!:D :D Wiried:D :D What more can I say!! Life is good!!
First shot with new motor and everything else!! Tranny is awesome w/new stall, Oh My God!!:D As soon as Speedway gets my new blockhuggers and everything else to fire this baby up, I will be NOTORIOUS!!!
Sorry guys, I am just really excited.:) :D :D
Well here is my newest project. I just bought it about a week ago and want to learn more about 50's trucks before I go taking it all apart. It is a 1954 witha 1947 grill on it and someone before me mad a bed to make it look like a tow truck so I guess I am going to go with that theme. Any other sugestions feel free to shoot them my way. It has the 235 6cyl with the 3 on the tree and factory rearend in it. I am going to keep the 235 and trans but put a different rear end in it. I am going to add power steering, all new bushings, kingpins, disc brakes, etc. but thats about it. Maybe some body work and new sealer(grey and black).
Ok I think this might show you a pic.
And here is another on of the back. Sorry I dont know how to put more than one pic in a post yet.:(
dont forget to heat the springs. :cool:Quote:

Wow is an understatement huh!? Looks like it will be safe thats for sure.
My block Huggers where here today and I missed them, I'll get them tomorrow I hope. I have fuel line coming too, you know you live in a small town when there isn't any fuel line in town to buy until thursday. Get the battery cables hooked up and she'll be ready to start! Thats going to freak my head out!:D
That's the same thing my grandson said, right before he climbed in. "Can you bring this to my house and I can play in it with my friends? But where can we put the swing!"Quote:

My headers are on and my fuel line is in! New Camaro steering column is in and new knuckles hooked up making the rack and pinion steering work for the first time!! Very cool!! :D I have almost got all the gauges mounted and the dash will be ready for paint and going back in. Everything is looking up!
Everything is on and the motor runs great!!!:D I have to say it was very cool to hear it run!:D
Now all that has to be done is to mount the front end back on her and finish the body work. Man, it is so cool to be getting her on her feet. I have alot of great friends in our local club, including some of the guys from here at CHR, I owe alot too.
Good to hear brickman, fireing it up always makes it feel worth all the effort dosen't it:D
BTW is that a 67 Nova next to it? is that yours also?
BG
Looking good, Brickman. How much longer til it hits the road?? Any target dates or events scheduled for the debut??? Keep us updated.
Looks like one sweet ride brickman!

A little more progress on the Merc. Doors are hung and latched, trunk and hinges installed, front end fiberglass installed, a few other small things. Brakes and steering is all connected, too. Should have the whole thing in primer soon. As soon as the motor moves the car down the road it is going up for sale, need some major bucks to throw at the Ranchero !!!!
Looking real good Dave, I love those old Merc's:cool:
I like that aluminum rad bracket/core support, did you fab that up? thats purdy kewl lookin!:toocool: :toocool:
BG
It should be ok once it is cleaned up and polished, going to polish it and the tanks on the radiator just for kicks. Haven't decided if I like the top bracket or not, will have to see what it looks like once it is polished.
Yes it does BG and no thats not my 66 nova, it's one of our club members boys car. It's going to be sweet when he gets it done.
Thanks Vara and Dave, our car clubs show is coming up in june, I would love to debut her there. Man that Merc looks sweet, some heavy money into that aluminum radiator. I like it Dave, looks sharp.:D
