I am going to pro street my Dodge swb pu Pro70, did you do all your frame work yourself or did you buy some of the parts aftermarket? Sorry if that sounds like a dumb question but I have no idea where to get a narrowed rear end. I think I can fabricate the rest myself. Good Idea or Bad?
Nothin' wrong with that idea. Just takes time & patience .Quote:

The "Z" is an Art Morrison chassis. It didn't start as a 25.4 chassis, so I'm making a few changes along the way, but having something to start with saves a ton of time. Rear suspension is a hybrid mix of Art Morrison, Mark Williams, Aerospace Components and home fabricating.
Yup, Jenni beats a tube bender .................:) :) . Any day. :) :)Quote:

Got Pics.?
Not exactly a newbie just havent posted much lately , anyway I am building a 40 ford coupe. I just got the qtr patch panels
in last week and after a little rage gold
I primed them tonight. I also got the deck lid and hood about 90% finished . After these areas are done I intend to jump ( not really) on the roof, after that the fenders and doors . I hope to be ready for paint in april or may. My frame is done So I hope to be cruisin in May
or June but who knows .
here is some that i have done not much but i started weldin the trim holes up on my door.
let me know what you think need to know if i'm doin it right or not.
that was one of the holes i welded up here is a pic of the hole door:D  :HMMM:
Looks good to me but I am not a pro body man. I think that if it is filled slowly with out wrinkeling the door metal and you can cover it with a thin coat of putty you have accomplished your goal. Thats what I did and I may suffer down the road but it looks good so far.
Sounds like you will be up this summer darin, got any pic's?
Do you have any links for art morrison products Pro70? I am very interested in building a real ground pounder, something that sets my insides againest the seat when you stab it!! I think you are going to have a real back tweaker when your done, I would love to take a ride in that car of yours!! OH YA!!!:D :D Nothing like american muscle!:D

I wouldn't worry about a little rust, just take one spot at a time and get rid of it. It's a long process sometimes but the end result is killer!:D Hang in there and SAND-SAND-SAND!!!!!!:D :D
After a week of rain days I did manage to get the firewall patched in and smoothed out and painted. Not sure if the black is going to stay but at least it is finished, another checked off the list!!:D
Been a while since I've been out here, but glad to be back. Still waiting on my motor. Crank from Callies is on back order. Once it comes in, motor will be put together. Still working on getting the interior carpeted. Friend of mine building a custom center console but other than that, I haven't touched to car in 2 months. You know, bottom of the food chain thing!!
Gettin' the motor plate dialed in. Just about ready to pop the aluminum in the CNC to cut the finished product.
Motor plate is cut to size.............. taped, bolted and clamped in place. ............ ready to mount. ..................... I am a recovering puter' haul ik'. This was my rehab project for today. HEHEHE:LOL:
you building a tank or car :confused:Quote:

wow heavy duty mount what would that plate weigh approx ? i know it is aluminum but a just courious
beats the hell out of my arc welder and grinder.
i have come to realize that i am out of my league compared to some guys without massive investment and tripling my garage size such is life, i still have fun though and i dont bitch about the known fact there will always be nicer cars than mine. we all are still miles ahead of 95 % of the population and they can look at our cars and say "i could do better than him"
It's aluminum. It also serves as a cross member and added support for the lower strut mount.Quote:

It doesn't matter how much or how little money you put it your project. As long as it's enjoyable to you, that's all that matters. A budget hot rod, trumps an expensive production car in my book any day. :) :) :)
A dunk tank ...................   :LOL:Quote:

Looking real good Pro you did a nice job on making your own plates:toocool:
canadianal dont ever feel that your out of your league on this site, theres everything from stock classics to full on drag cars on this site but the one common thing we all share is the fact that we all love to wrench on our own rides so ya fit right in;)
and the size of the garage dosent reflect on the quality of the car..i've been building a full on tube chassis GTO for the past five years in a simple one car garage:3dSMILE: ....matter of fact I had to jack the car up and push it all the way to the left wall just to have enough room to work on stretching the wheel opening on the drivers side today:LOL: I'd love to have a 40x40 pole barn but all we can do is make do with what we got I guess;)
BG
I must confess. It's not entirely mine. I bought a motor plate blank and trimmed it with the CNC to fit the chassis. Not a very large difference in the cost compared to buying an aluminum plate. So, I opted for the time savings of not having to enter all that bolt pattern information into the puter'.
Thanks Richard. It's Sloooowly taking shape.:)
Cant blame ya one bit Gary, with the price of motor plates being some what cheap it would probably cost just as much if not more to get the aluminum sheet you would need alone. I think I only paid around $100 for both my front and mid mount plates if I remember correctly.
Still looks sweet:cool:
Looks like we're both at about the same stage right now, I just put both my plates in not that long ago as well. I'm thinking about pulling my front plate back out and polishing it if I get real energetic next week:LOL:

We are empty nesters but it still takes alot of money to play with cars, there is just no way around it sometimes. It can get really bad if you are building 2 projects as I am beginning to find out. Of course there are guys doing more than 2 but it's not in my budget.
Today I rolled my Dawg shorty pick'em'up truck into the shop (to the dirty looks of my Cheby) to finish the lowering and install her new 727 tranny.
Have any of you chopped front springs for lowering purposes? How much should I cut, 1 coil, 2? Any help would be appreciated. Here is a pic I took this morning with the rear lowered before she went into the shop.
