all of them need all the help they can get, even a ford sometimes.
Nice progress fellas, here is my current state of progress!!
Getting all the body lines ,lined up and getting ready for some heavy duty block sanding.Kinda doin things backwards frame and engine and all the underside of the sheet metal is nice and shiny doing the paint and rims, installing the glass last.
n/m
I think I have decided to go with red and white ?With a silver pinstripe between the colors?
These are the rims,I know there not 22s or how ever big they make em now but I like em!
:D :D :D
Duel engines, why not duel 4 speeds huh Dave? They have 6 speeds now, that would just be the next natural step, an 8 speed!!!:D Even a Ford sometimes Lt1?.... oh no, not a Ford...No way....not a sweet old Ford!!HeHeHe!!
Looking Good shawnlee, getting real close to slapping some paint on her. I think that red and white will look really good on that body style. I have a set of those wheels on my car now too, but I had to really look for some shallow lug nuts for them. They make a nice accent, but my dream wheel for my car would be a set of Krager five spokes, 15's on the rear and 14's on the front. Keep us informed on the progress.
Ohh did I mention the ford 460 under the hood!!!:LOL:j/k

Ahhhhhh, but that chebbie starter solenoid gives you away. HEHEHEHE:LOL:
Looking VERY good Shawnlee, even if it is a chebbie. I remember when you started it, you've done some great work and should be proud of it. The red and white would be kewl. Same colors as my '71 is going to be, but I doubt if we will wind up side by side at too many lights!!!!! Keep up the great work, and keep us updated.
Don't forget to put a rugged hitch on the rear to help our ford friends get home
Good plan, must be talking about your '29 Ford, halftanked????????????
I was thinking of asking my son in Sacramento to spot me one of his honda motors.
460 shawnLee? that is a chebby truck is it not? Why would one ASK for Ford complications if you didn't need them!!!:D :D
Chebby to Chebby and Ford to ford is how I like to see it but I understand why guys use the more inexpensive chevy engines. But to put a Ford in a chebby is almost sacreligous!:D :3dSMILE: **)
Well........... I have a 89 ford 460 fuel injected and it wont pass emissions and it still has low miles only 290,000!
Why heck Shawnlee. thats just barely broke in! I suppose it would be rather scary with that big engine but I'm still a little uncomfortable even thinking along those lines, I wouldn't want to help start a fad!!:D :D :HMMM:
I picked up a set of outside door handles off of a 97 Grand prix today, they will work really cool on the ol' 48. I decided not to go with soleniods, after seeing one catch on fire in a 47 buick this summer, I am a little leary. These handles are very sleek and I think that they will look good. I just have to figure out how to get them to work around the window channel.
It's been a very busy year. Haven't hardly touched the "Z" since last Feb. But now things are slowing down as they usually do this time of year, so I'm going to see what I can get done before the spring rush starts again(Usually Feb.). :D
Got to finish the mid plate and some bracing for the front end, then it's finally time to weld it all together.
Driver's side bell end and axle have been shipped off to match up a set of Wilwood brakes. Should be shipping them soon.
Good to hear you'll have a little time to get back on the car Pro Z. Both good and bad having it set there and no time to work on it, huh????
I bet your happy to get into her again pro70! I hope that you do get some time this winter, I myself have had to put my car on hold after the last few cold waves. This is my work space after the last storm came through, another cover bites the dust!:D
Yup, and a wedding comin' up for our daughter Jenni in May. But that's a good thing.
Well, finally have some time to work on the rod since winter is the slow work season for me. I managed to get my car sandblasted and veri-primed over the summer. Put in a 69 firebird rear and used chassis engineering rear suspension. I bought a 383 Stroker & a 350 turbo to drop in, but My next step is to buy my front IFS. I think I'm going to go with RB's obsolete.

Looks to be in good shape!!!! Have fun with your project. I think we all tend to be able to get a bit more work done in the winter.
Looking real good Chevyman 39, I do remember being at that stage of the game. That is a very exciting time of building a car IMHO because it's all very detail intensive. I love doing the drive train stuff, I love the looks of the engine out in the open. Best part is that everything you do now makes a noticable difference in the car so it the build really pic's up momentum.
Congrats on the wedding Pro70, thats a papa's proudest time.;)
A daughter's wedding is not only the proudest time, but also one of the most expensive!!!! Better get back to work Z, the bills will be coming in soon!!!!
Already ''R'' Dave. But that's better than all @ once. ........ I guess.Quote:

yeah, I guess......or so I've been told. Just pay em and forget em......If you keep them and total them up after the wedding we will need to put you on suicide watch!!!!!!
I hear that! It is a never ending stream, but she's worth it, car isn't going anywhere. Maybe for a really-really-really long time!!:D :D **) :3dSMILE:
The Airwaves are in. Kinda hard to cut up a perfectly good 48 frame, but should work out better when done.

Yup. She goin' purdy' easy on me so far. That may change as the date gets closer tho  :(
I hope so Pro70, I wish the best for her and her fiance' and that you will survive it!:D
Pretty tight fit there 48olds and you did really cut that frame up huh? Oh well, as long as it's strong and works well. It will be awesome with the bags in, very cool.
It is bitterly cold here so nothing getting done on my car and I am very bitter it's bitter!!!!:D I can't stand to see it sitting out there and I can't do anything to her, it sucks.
Does anybody know where I could get a pre-made headliner for my '48? I was thinking of trying to installing one myself if I didn't have to do the sewing.
Hey Brick, as great a job as you have done on the rest of the interior, why would you want to farm out the headliner??????????? I know, easy for me to say, I'm not the one doing all the cutting, fitting, and sewing !!!!!!!!!
Don't know of a source for you to find one, some of those old chebbie retro parts companies must make one for the car, though???????????
Well...uh...Hell I don't know Dave!:D Wanting a short cut I guess thats all I can think of. heHeHe, I'll be putting it in anyway and that is going to be enough. I have alot I want to get done this winter, I did get some good news today. A good friend has offered me a corner of his shop, opening up in a week or so. I guess he got tired of watching a grown man cry and whine!!! :D I'm very excited to get started.
Okay guys, I like the look of braided steel lines but I don't like the look of those covers that go over stock hoses. So, I have been looking at the real deal in my little ol' speedway catalog and I have no Idea what they mean by "an" fittings. What is the best ones to use for say fuel line or Radiator hose. Do you all recommend it and also what are the size's? They are marked as #2,#3,#4 and so forth. I have no idea what does what so some advice would be awesome, thanks.
AN stands for Air Force/Navy. The hose sizes are expressed in sixteenths of an inch. A 4 is 4/16ths, or 1/4".......an 8 is 8/16ths, or 1/2".......and so forth.
Cool, that explains what I wanted to know, I think I am going to go ahead and upgrade my car with braided hose for my new engine, thanks guys as usual.
Do you guys know which is better, the push on or the other (which I'm not sure how they work)?
i used the full flow and had good luck with them. be sure to use a light coat of grease on the alum. threads when you put them on the hoses or they will weld togother. :CRY:Quote:
