Very nice pickup, Damien. Sounds like you don't even leave yourself time to get in trouble!!! Congrats on your project, looks great.
whats wrong with those wheels? they might be the only 2 sets made. when they came out in the 80's i thought they were the best looking wheel i had ever seen, i think i was about the only one though. i still like them on that 70 chevy, and they are not bad on that truck. to ea. his own. :HMMM: :cool:Quote:

when i had my parts store, i sold a lot of wheels, but only one set of those and i bought them. hang onto them, might be worth something one day. :HMMM: **)Quote:

Hey Denny, I'm old and out of style too.... But that let me hang around !!!!!!

I ordered and paid for the wheels, and then the guy says, hey, I'm still looking for the fronts you wanted. I told him to try hard, cause if I can't get the 6 lug fronts, he can keep the rears also. Not in a bad way, I just wanted a matching set.
He found 2 sitting on a shelf in Pittsburg.
i think i has a few sets of daves and dennies laying around on the shelf when the store burned down in 95. how did ya'll get out? :LOL:Quote:

Glad you had wings, Denny.... That fall off the top shelf really HURT.....With all the flames and stuff, didn't notice till I got out....
this is what you call having a bad day, when everything you have goes up in smoke, because of a gas tank and a drop light.
that's a bad blow Lt1, I hope you had good insurance. I feel for ya man.
My engine is back in and hooked up mostly except for getting a chrome altenator for it.
Don't know about Paint yet, I have to put door handles and stuff in so we'll see.
Looking good, Brick. Heck, you are almost ready for spring. !!!!!!
now you're looking good brickman!!!!!Quote:

LQQKs great Brick, Ain't it nice when everything is clean & Shinny ??:D
thanks Denny, something is wrong with my camera or my cpu. Every pic is either too dark or too light, oh well looks better now. What did you do, just lighten it up?
Engine is running, working on putting the radiator in. I also moved the tranny oil cooler underneath the car so I have maximum air flow through the radiator. Next paint the dash and install new power windows with new glass. I'm having a ball seeing things come together, can't wait to get back to work on her.:D
Great progress Brick. That Denny Dude is really something with this coputer tuff, huh???
I'll say Dave, very nice. Have you ever worked with aluminum radiators? Is there anything special I need to know? I figure I have to surround it with rubber to protect it I'm sure. It will be interesting to see if they work as good as they claim that they do. Also has anybody used those Cool Flex solid hoses? I am leaning toward using them because they look very cool and are permenant. Any advice is always welcome. Oh, has anyone ever had a chrome tranny pan leak from the plug and how did you fix it?
I use enough rubber on the mounts to give it a little isolation from the bumps. I've used aluminum radiators on a number of projects, fairly pleased with them. Never have used the cool flex stuff, sorry.
Hey Dave do you have any more pics of the front of your ranchero? I like that air damm front bumper do hickey.
I'll get you some more when I get back on it, right now it's buried in the corner. Going to start putting the cowl induction hood together this weekend. Oh yeah, went from the dual stacked headlights to 1 large headlight on each side, now the front will look like a '67 Mustang too....Not so sure if I shouldn't have started with a '67 Mustang and made it look like a Ranchero!!!! But hey, if it was easy, everybody would be doing it, right????
I'd be interested in seeing your method for building a cowl hood. I built one for the Falcon last year. I'm mixed on weather I like it or not. I left the boomerang on the front and just don't feel warm and fuzzy about it. I'll be looking forward to seeing those pics sometime, thanx M
If I get to it this weekend, I'll post some pics. Oh yeah, I extended the front of the hood about 5", and changed the hinges to the front of the hood. Maybe if I would just leave stuff alone I would get a project finished a lot faster, huh?????
Just took a look in your gallery, the hood on the Falcon looks fine to me!!! How is the rest of the project coming along?????
I can't seam to get started again. I retired from building cars 2 years ago and took this job running a sign shop for a friend ( 10million$ operation) and they are keeping me busier than I would like. I'm going to get the plumbing finished this month and start on the inside. I like things simple, not a lot of glitz. My goal is to drive this thing before the next snow.
Can't get this to post, bummer. See if this works, new radiator in.
Looks good, Brick. That should keep that old chebbie kewl. You must be dang near ready for spring, I'm really jealous!!!!!
LQQKin' good Brick. Should stay cool this year.
Went to the Drag Expo @ Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, IL. Stopped in @ Danny Miller's "Rear-Gears" booth and talked center sections for awhile. Danny was nice enough to tell me about a 40 Spline Mark Williams spool in the swap meet area. I checked it out and sure enough it was still there. I brought it back to the Rear-Gears booth and asked Danny to build a center section around it for me. Going with an aluminum housing, 4:11 pro gear set, 10 bolt pinion support and 1350 yoke. That should more than handle the ol' "Z". That puts me a little closer to a rollin' chassis. :D oh boy
Hey falconstien, got any pics? Would love to see them.
Thanks DennyW, it's cool how you can get it so clear also? Very well done and I don't mind a bit, I wish I had the skills.
Pro70, that is very cool, rolling chasis is a major step bud. Awesome and what a rear end man damn! It sounds like it will be bullit AND hand grenade proof!! Keep punching bro, it will be running before you know it.
Thanks Dave I do appreciate it coming from you, I have learned alot. It's not a 100 point car but it's a damn fun car!!:D That little 350 should make it even more fun, I may even make it a bottle baby this winter, depends how the funds hold out.:D ;)
hey brick I have some pic in the gallery. Nothing new since then.
If I found the right pics, looks like a great street rod lerking in there.
Here is another pic for ya DennyW, this time I am sending it just as it comes out of my camera. These shots are too dark for my screen to see. Let me know, oh it's of my new engine after I started it and ran it for a while!:D That was very fun!:D
I can barely see mine, yours is a little clearer but dark. I guess it's time for a new monitor, sounds like the camera is working well. I took the dash out today and I'm going to paint everything at once, dash, inner fenders, door jams and gas tank. Getter blue'r by the minute.
Probably the wrong thread considering I just finished it and showed it at GNRS, but what the hell.
WOW. Fast service from ''Danny Miller's Rear-Gears''..........
Ordered it Saturday afternoon @ the Drag Expo. Showed up today (Tues.) @ 10AM.
That's fast service. Cool.
Got a little white grease on the gears. Perfect pattern.
It's a H.D. Unit. I'm soooo excited. :D :D
.
Pro gear, so it's Gonna' need good lube & a cooler. I may get a second one later so i can have 1 street gear & 1 strip gear. Until I get it runnin' tho this will do.
Very very cool Pro70, now thats the real deal! What a unit, sweet!:D
Looking Good, Pro!!! What gear ratio are you going with??? You'll never regret going with the 40 spline. Nothing on a race car is bullet proof, but they are about as close as you can get... Drag racing buddy of mine has a set of 40 spline axles with over 1,000 passes on them in a 9.90 car!!! He has a brand new set on hand, just going to run the originals to see how long they can really last!!!!
Dave: I went with a 4:11 pro gear. Seems every time I buy parts, the "Z" becomes a little less streetable. If I run TORCO lube and an oil cooler I should still be O.K. for local car shows. Problee' will eventually get a second center section for street use, but this will get me started.
The axles had the standard white stripe painted down them when they were new, took their initial twist and never moved since then!!!! Rodney sez he's just gonna run em till they break!!!!
Pro, the cooler and pump will really help on keeping the temp down. Friend of mine put a cooler and pump on his. Filled the rear end, didn't run the pump to fill the cooler and lines!!!! Probably not necessary to say what happened to his differential (and brand new Detroit locker) first time he went out cruising!!!!
Ouch. I'll make a note of that.
The picture is of my 53 ford chassie looks stock right. I have only been working on it a week. Friends say it will be on the street this sumer. I hope so. Just to the left out of the picture is my wifes 57 Chevy 2 dr wagon they are both being done at the same time. That way when I'm waiting for parts for one I work on the other. No need to go in the house then.
