Nice Dave.
hmm, that could happen.
Nice work Dave, hey I wouldn't mind seeing that film myself!! Through all the gears!!
Started a 39 Ford four door sedan 2 years ago (first street rod project) and just finished putting in the LT1 out of a 94 police car with a 4L60E trans, currie 3.89:1 rear and TCI Mustang II front suspension. I went with the air bags but am having second thoughts on that (we'll see once I get it rolling). I started the body work on the firewall, dash and door jams so I can get the body back on and the motor started then I'll hit the rest of the body hard. Hoping to start spraying in a couple months with two tone paint scheme with mild flames. Got the computer and wiring harness done so should be ready to fire soon!!!
Sounds like a nice project, Post us some pics sometime Ultra.
Hey Brick, sounds like your coupe is cooling ok now, huh? Wonder how much was the new radiator and how much was the fresh engine.???
Dave;

Distributor
Water pump
Alternator
Heads w/valve covers $1900.00
So far it is running strong with 175 or better in each cylinder, should be a good one. Sure is nice to know that it's not going to run hot any more!
Brick, just for infor what is the water pump now?
Don Shillady
Well, got a bit more done on the old '71. Back of the cab and front of the box have sealer on them and ready for paint. I'll get some paint on and set the cab back on next week. Replaced the two barrell with a 4 barrell, engine is almost ready to go, too. The old girl is looking ok, now I know why I've kept it for 15 years (Even though this is the closest it's ever been to done!).
Havn't got anything to report with the Chevy yet. probably gonna get it out of my grandparents barn next weekend.
You better get at that thing Matt, cruising season is upon us!!!
No better time than the present Matt! HeHeHe!!! It's all good Matt, got any pics of her now?
Don, I put a polished water pump on her, King chrome (Speedway) $99.00. Working well now that I got the leaks from the plugs stopped. What the little changes do for the engine help I think, plus it's always fun to put pretty's on the car!:)
Man Dave, you are going to town on that girl, she's looking close to paint huh? What color (or colors) are you going to use?
I should be crusing by august I think.Quote:

That will be easy to keep clean for a driver huh? Thats a stock ford color combo too eh?:3dSMILE: Very cool bud.
Thanks Brick. Probably end up selling it to pay for more Ranchero goodies or something else, who knows?
I have been working on getting a bud's duster up and running but managing to get a little nibble on mine once in a while. I am working on reconditioning my stock front signals. I am going to paint them silver like 3 bars of the grill are going to be. I am getting my remote entry this weekend as planned so just the rubbers and the glass left to buy. Next new windshield, I am looking forward to that.
Sounds good brick, anxious to see it sans door handles!!! Always have liked the smooth look!!!
Well, got the front and rear glass installed and the insulation mat put on the floor of the car. Next is the final buffing and try to get some shine in the paint. First car show/cruise isn't till May 20th, should make it easy.
Current shot of the interior *1980 El Camino* let me know what you guys/gals think. No radio and still with the old 1968 Gran Prix seats. I ordered new seats and should have them thursday.

Hey guys. I recently came into posession of a 1941 GMC pickup rat rod and thought I would post a few pics of the progress Ive made. I got the truck last Sunday (4-16-06) and finally started workin on it Tuesday (4-18-06). So far, all ive done is change the rear tires and wheels, paint the cab and bed, get the grille painted and mounted, and got the engine mocked up. The chassis was boxed and had the steering and brakes already hooked up.
The chassis is from a 39 Dodge pickup. The engine is a 1969 Vette block /w 66 vette camelback heads, havent decided on a tranny yet. the grille has been chopped and is from a 1935 Ford coupe. The front axle is a 1928 Ford and a Ford 9" rear. The rear tires have some white portawalls on them, they are 29x15.5 Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro's, the front tires are 29x7.5 whitewalls.
Heres some pics.... you can see the progress made over about 6 days.
Let me know what you guys think.
Peiceofpaper, love the rear wheels and the motor looks awesome with the tunnel ram and the stacks, pretty wicked lookin truck!
You made all this progess in 6 days??? Even God rested on the 7th day.:) :) :)
Amazing. What a difference. So, you figure what, 3 or 4 more days and you'll be driving it??
Looks good.
Don
Thanks guys. I hope to have it road worthy within 2 or 3 weeks. I have everythin here I need to do it, its just hard doing all this stuff by yourself (Yes, ive done all the work myself and dont plan on getting any help! I want this to be MY rat rod) and finding the time around work to do it.
Here's my project that I've been working on for almost two years now. A '26 or '27 T Coupe (its an '05 according to the state of Kansas......bastards). The frame firewall back is a Model A Z'd 8", from the firewall foward is a late 20's Willys Six flipped upside down, or underslung, all of it's boxed. Rear is a 7.5" Ford out of a Ranger. Wheels are Ford wires powdercoated red with the rear's split and widened to 8" and the bolt pattern changed to 5x4.5 (thanks dad). Front brakes are Pinto, and steering is via '91 Fiesta rack and pinion (and it works VERY well). The engine is an 8RT flathead with a "Multipower" intake with dual Holley 94's. Carb scoops are homemade out of an oil intake from a Cat diesel engine (thanks dad). The car made some rounds at local car shows last year in red oxide, but its in peices right now for paint. So far the frame is painted and back together with the engine in place. Sunday I'll be painting enough of the body to get it back on the frame so I can wheel it to a friends shop for paint.
Final details will be replacing the rear radials with wide-whites to match the front, and a bench seat to replace the ugly-ass tweed buckets. The wires will be going on a future project and I'm gonna run smoothie wheels on this car, I like them better.
Some pics:
Kewl lookin' Phone Booth, post us some pics when the paint is on, should be way kewl. Neat looking old flattie in there
Very very nice piece of quick work peiceofpaper, whats the dash look like? I like the look of the fat rear tires too. What are the brakes in front, drum or disc? Straight axle?
Thats a wild looking steering wheel hellcaminokid, matches the interior well. What year is the truck, 88?
Way cool 27 coupe, I love the whole look. Nice job pharoahchris, how big is the flatie? Got any interior shots too?
I have the Duster running now and almost everything woriking. Looking forward to working on my ride this weekend. Do any of you know where to get a picture walkthrough of installing an aftermarket power window kit in your ride.My glass is done and my keyless system is one the way so I am getting close to being ready to install everything.
Well, we took my friend Rodney's Comet to the chassis dyno today. The results were quite satisfying for a 460 with flat tops and a set of Victor heads. Should run good in the 2600 pound car!!! I'll get some pics of the car sometime, it's one I built in 1995 celebrating it's 3rd or 4th comeback!!! Hmmm.. Must not have scanned it right...doesn't show the RPM. Anyway, HP is the blue line, peaked at 7,000. Bottom chart is air fuel, started at 13.5, dropped to 12.6.... Temp was on 65 degrees, should fatten up some with warmer air....
Thanks Bill, we were all very pleasantly surprised with the dyno results !!!!
Hey Brick, what all are you doing to the Duster? Looks like a nice, straight car....
Looks good Dave. Wish mine was at this stage..
The flathead is a 239 8RT truck engine. Largely stock internally. No shots of the interior, there really isn't one yet. Just an empty dash panel and two ugly tweed buckets. By summer's end I should have at least the door panels and glass in, but finishing the paint and getting it driveable again has been the biggest priority. After this weekend the body should be back on the frame, though only the inside, underside and firewall will be painted (I'm letting a friend who's a pro paint the exterior). I've got a set of '36 Ford gauges I'm thinking about using, provided I can get the speedometer cable to fit into the transmission, its tight down there.Quote:

Dave, that black beauty belongs to a good friend of mine that has had a string of guys work(and mess up) on his ground up restoration of this low millage '72. He ask me to come in and finish putting it together. Fresh 350 hp 318 w/904 w/ shift kit. Everything is brand new, it's a beauty. It's running now and will be heading to the drive line shop tuesday. Next will be ripping the slant out of this car and dropping in a 450 hp 440 he has in his back room! That will be alot of fun too!
That should be a fun one!!!! I've still got a 440 Magnum I've got to find a home for someday........ Wouldn't happen to have a GTX laying around somewhere, would ya??
Thanks Brickman. It has no dash right now, the interior is 90% gutted, very little of anything left. the drum brakes and straight axle came of a 1940's F1, not sure of the year though.Quote:

Well, took the BBC zoomie tubes and cut them just below halfway of the straight part of the tube and tack welded them to some SBC flanges we've had for 7 or 8 months. Only took about 45 mins of work, but I think they came out lookin really good. I thought I'd share some pics.
Pulled the "Z" over to the Dragstrip Reunion @ Seneca yesterday. It was still on the trailer from tech day, so I figured why not. It was a fun day, lotta' bench racin'. Got rained on most of the day, but still had a good crowd of die hards. A bunch of us went out to eat afterwards to get in some overtime bench racin'. :whacked:
Car looks great, Pro!!! Did you perhaps buy me that front engine dragster you were parked next to for my Birthday? Oh yeah, you can keep the engine, gotta put a Blue Oval in it, you know?
Auh shucx Dave... I plumb forgot.   It started rainin' about 11am and never quit.
No problem, just get it next time you see the dude. Too dang busy to come and get it today anyhow.....
