That is art, the art of a true craftsmen, very nice pro. lets see, driving can be done through just eye movement now so I don't care how long it takes put me in !! Hell in ten more years you'll be able to go all bionic anyway!
Same for my son, he needs to work on patience. He doesn't understand the concept that the car doesn't care how mad at it you get, and forcing something usually ends up breaking it. But, that was me twenty years ago, too.:3dSMILE: On the brighter side, I did get my radiator mounted and started on the grille/lights.
I can see that this thread is going to have to catch up again also, no big deal, it seems to have a life of it's own.
I didn't manage to get the El Camino going yet, had to work on the Wifes Explorer again....again......again......again...........I hate fords!
Wow, great to have the site up again! Here's where I am; I bought a 50 Dodge for parts and had to make room 'cuz the wife says if it dont fit in the garage, it dont come home. So I set the 47 on the frame to give me space and the engine is sitting perfect with the original firewall. It really got me wanting to get moving on this again. On the rat truck side, the motor is together, the dash is together, just put front brakelines on, and I'm taking the rear springs from the 50 to get the rearend mounted. Also using the radiator from the 50, it looks pretty good. Spring fever is settin' in, hopefully this thing will be on the road in a couple of months.
OK, surely SOMEBODY has made some progress in the last week.
I cut and buffed my front fenders - does that count, especially since one had some solvent pop and needs some touch up on a leading edge?? Now I'm off to fit the coverings on my running boards this afternoon after lunch.:DQuote:

PS---The prospects for the weekend don't look much better......:( :(
My El Camino came to a screeching hault when every other vehicle I own took a dump! The last 2 days I had to get my 48 out and drive it to work and she did not like coming out in the cold. So far this year it's Vehicles 5, Tony 0 but I am still in there punching. Don't feel bad Dave, it's only 6 degrees here so working outside on my rigs is going to be a long day.
Truck is looking great falcon and the plymouth body is looking fantastic, close to doing the doors huh? I love the look and the color of the interior of the truck, very cool.
Thanks! Same story here; 5 degrees out and my sons truck is on the way here on the back of a tow truck. So much for any weekend progress. I guess that's what being a dad is all about.
Seems like some of you are getting the weather today that we have forecast for Sunday and Monday. Today was a loser as far as physical work on the car after fitting up the running board covers and trim yesterday. I did go to an indoor swap meet in Springfield, Mass. and picked up shop supplies and a bunch of SS bolts to replace some that have become "lost". I guess that 210 mile round trip counts:3dSMILE:
I cant really call it progress but I did throw the springs and rear in it yesterday so I could roll it outside. My son has to put a trans in his truck and it was too cold to work outside. I'm going to lower the rear another 2" but here's an idea of what it's going to look like.
The 'ol truck is looking good, Falcon!!!!! Have fun with the transmission work!
Thanks Dave,
My plan is to sit in the chair by the heater and tell him what to do!
That year of chevy sure has alot of room in the cab huh? Thats going to be a nice one to drive.
Well, Supervision is a tough job, but somebody has to do it!!!! Hopefully your son will be furnishing you some snacks and refreshments during the ordeal!!!!!Quote:

Very cool so far! Keep them pics and info comin!
Got the trans. today.
BFH, those headers are going to be terribly restrictive with that 90 degree bend in them, also very loud and very illegal......
Hey Pro, what's the deal? That's an automatic!!!! Thought for sure you'd have a Jericho behind that beast!!!!!! I think they sent you the wrong transmission!!!!!!!   Looks nice, who made it and what all did ya get for innards?
I figured since they are completly open the bend wouldnt cause too much trouble and a little backpressure is good right? Im not for sure going to use these headers anyway since I know a sound pollution ticket is coming everytime it leaves the driveway.
Dave I'm just an old guy. So I need an automatic. :LOL:Quote:

Sounds like a good one Z!! Lots lighter spinning mass too. That's really got to help!
I'm hoping so Dave. It's out of a 6 sec. top sportsman car from CO. Rossler has the history on it and says it was always taken care of & owner never cut corners on rebuilds. He had 2 -210's he sold & is going to a clutch set-up of some kind. It's got 10 pases on the last freshen-up. I couldn't pass up the price. I won't be pushin' it as hard as a T/S car, so it should be plenty stout for me.
Pro, I was just wondering about your car the other day. What is your target date for the first run?
Don
That's the million dollar question. Being a 1 man sign shop I don't get much time to work on it. Customers have to come first.
Well, started on the front of the Camaro, just a bit of tin bending so far. Still have some shaping to do and a lot more fabricating to do, then sit back and decide if I even like it.
Got one fender on Tom's coupe for a test fit. Had to put some patch panels in to replace some rusted spots, coming along fairly well....
Dave,
The coupe is lookun good.
I'll be working tomorrow, my day off, putting "Patch Pannels" in a kitchen wall to keep the cock rouches out.
Planning on going to a car show/swap meet here in Orlando on Ground Hog's Day and then before heading home in early March I'll be going over to Bike Week in Daytona, want to test drive a Yamaha FJR sport touring bike.
Tom
I've been out of it awhile Tom....what's the FJR???? An adult version of a crotch rocket or?????? Got my eye on a Suzuki Bandit,,, low miles with a present owner that scared the poo-poo out of himself with it last summer!!!!!!   :LOL:Quote:

I like the automatic pro, better to drive when your drinking an expresso or have a cheeseberger to eat! I was wondering if you wanted me to pitch-in on the second seat, say for upholstrey or something? Your car should haul the mail with that tranny Pro, very cool.
The "Maro" is looking good Dave, it does kind of have that Taladega look, I now understand. Your changing it into a ford arn't you?!!! I am really loving the T coupe Dave, thats going to be a sharp car. What style are you going after with it?
What size tubing did you use on the frame rails? Thats a hugh motor, I like it, should really scoot that light car. Did you make the dash from scratch, looks good.
Just another one of those sketches at the coffee shop!!!
After going thru the car this Winter, I finally have it to the point of all that remains to do is fire it up.

Oh My God Pro60, have you gone all out professional on us?! That girl has become a true fire breathing monster! What kind of times will that car be running this year? That has to be one of the most awesome engines I have seen! Am I seeing 2 stages of nos? There is no distributor either is there? Very cool!
Late last season we got it down to 8.13 at 171mph. It took us just about the entire season to get the tune-up to where it needed to be, then we ran out of track time. It's not like we can get tips from other racers, what works for others just doesn't work for us. We stopped using the 10.5 tires in favor of bigger (wider) ones. We changed the stall on the converter to a higher number so, that combined with the bigger tire will allow us to pour on the power a little sooner.
There are two actve stages with a total of about 700 hp, with a third plenum stage if the need for speed rears it's ugly head.
Good to see everything loaded for bear and ready to go Mike!!!!! With a lot of the learning behind you know, hope you have a very competitive season!!!! Keep us updated on the progress!!! Got a schedule done for the summer yet????
Brickman, I have a number to shoot for but I'll keep it quiet for the time being. I'd be happy with cutting a second off of last years best. The distributor can be seen in the first engine pic, it's in the front just above the water pump.
Dave, Most of our races are going to be at our home track in New Hampshire. We will be in York, PA on July 11, 12 for the Nostalgia Reunion, then over to Beaver Springs, PA on the 13th for a fun filled day of drag racing.
Sounds like fun Mike! Let us know how things go!!! Hmmm... Maybe some 7.20's this year????
Still having health issues? Man, get the rest you need, those cars can waite!!!!!!!!!!!!Quote:

That thing is way kewl, Tom!!!! I got to get Stevie to let me check one of them out when one comes into the store!!!! Bike open house is next month already, so I guess maybe spring is on the way.
Health issues are more or less under control, just learning to pace myself a bit better, and some compensation methods for a bit more usage loss on my left arm but hey, getting old ain't for sissies!!!!!! Besides, maybe you can take an additional tax write off for hiring the handicapped when you do your taxes!!!!!!!
