Yup, good plan!!!!! I run the amber shift light and just below, shaded by a 1/2 cover, a red oil pressure light!!! If it gets so I can't see that big red light, I'll have to teach my seeing eye dog to bark once when the shift light comes on, and bark twice if the oil light comes on!!!!!!:eek: :eek: :LOL: :LOL:Quote:

Here's an interesting story; I'm in Bible study class with my wife yesterday and the preacher is talking about different interest, hobbies, etc, that we have in our lives and how we have to be careful not to let them become too high on the priority list. "Who wants to talk about one of their hobbies?", he says. My wife starts jabbing me in the ribs and when I don't say anything, she finally points at me. So I break down and talk about how I ocaisionally like to work on old cars.:rolleyes: Some other people talk about their hobbies and the class ends after about an hour. When we're leaving, a little old guy comes up and starts talking cars. After a few minutes of swapping stories he says,"I've got a 48 Dodge two door thats been in my garage for the last 16 years. I was going to restore it but will probably never get the time. I'd like you to have it if you want it." I was blown away by this guys generosity. I told him I'd be happy to pay him for it but he wouldn't hear of it. I haven't seen it yet but plan to go scope it out this week. What a nice guy! And thanks to the wife for making me open my mouth.
Well , I’m just finishing up a little refab , since I have all this out, and couldn’t stop, kinda work on my 48 Plymouth Coupe. This started 3 yrs ago when it came home. I just thought I would reweld the R&P unit in it to make it a little safer. But for some reason I couldn’t stop there. The motor came out, firewall cut out, front floor out, dash out, all wiring, R&P unit and brackets, ect…… But after 3 long years, I am on home stretch. Mostly back together. Small things are waiting till I get the exhaust done and do some short hard drives. I wanna hit a ton of shows and cruise in’s. I feel like I have had cabin fever for years.

Can you guys tell me what each of the 2 big screws do on the front of eddy carbs? The one on my Elco seems to be a little out of adjustment and I am wanting to learn to do it myself. Also where can I find out what the timing would be on this 98 vortec 305 I put in it?
The two screws should be the idle mixture screws. With the engine not running turn them clockwise until they seat but do not over tighten. Back them out 1 1/2 turns and with a vacuum gauge adjust each one for the highest reading and then back off just a tad.
I'm not sure about the timing, but I'd guess about 8*

Well, I went and looked at the 48 that was given to me. Its a 48 Plymouth 2 dr and other than being in pieces looks to be really solid and straight. I am overwhelmed by this guys generosity; it was his first car given to him by his grandfather on his 16th birthday. He drove it all through high school, college, and the first several years of his marrige. After that it sat in their barn until about 15 years ago he pulled it in the garage and took it apart with hopes of restoring but never got any further. His only stipulation was that if I ever decide to get rid of it that it be given to someone who loves the Lord and loves old cars and not sold. I dont think I've ever met a more genuine, selfless christian man in my life. It's an honor to be intrusted with something that obviously meant a great deal to him. I'm picking it up next week and I'll post some pics. Also going to sell the four door body (not the chassis) and bring this one back to life.
LOL glad you guys found it in the garage i sure wouldn't of been able to. Looked for the wire for dropped cealings today to help son do his family room never found it either he had to buy some.
Falcon one word three letters WOW a 2dr to boot. Well when you get it home you know the pics are due . I was given a 48 Chevy cpe in 82 very clean 2 small rust holes is all. I traded it for a 64 Falcon to build with my oldest son who to this day hates to turn a wrench LOL hence it never did get done . I should have kept the chevy . NNNAAA
Got quite a bit done the last few days; I got some primer on the bed and doors, mounted the doors and got the handles working. Also wired up the tail lights and fuel gauge sending unit. I'm going to try and get the door glass in this week. I have to convert the drivers door over to a vent from a full window because thats what I have parts for. Still need to go back through the front brakes and master cylinder, too. Moving right along, though. It's great to see some doors on it.

Got a pattern for the bezel set-up on the computer. I cut vinyl patters to tweak it 'til it fit. Cut a PVC blank for a final fit and now I'm cuttin' away on the aluminum bezel. I'm putting over sized (for this dash) gauges in it, so there's going to be some modifying to do to the fiberglass dash cover. The gauge bezel will be bolted to the chassis & the fiberglass cover will be removable for wiring access.

I just finished boxing in my frame and creating my tubular cross-member. This is for my 55 F-100. Currently the transmission mount/crossmemeber is bolted to the bottom of the frame, however I am going to fabricate a mount that bolts to the bottom two tubular members and is removable. This frame is stiff as can be now.
I am going to clean up the welds and prime/paint it this week so I can have my cab back on by wednesday :) . That is the cab sitting outside the garage with the tarp over it :(

Looks good and solid. Your garage is as clean as mine! Pro, that gauge bezel looks really sweet, excellent job.
65 degrees and sunny yesterday; no way I could go to work so I called in and spent the day in the garage. I'm having to use a 50 door on the drivers side but had to put the 54 guts in it. The door itself is the same but nothing matched up as far as window regulater and latch/handle mounting so a good part of the day spent making it work. Also finished wiring up the fuel pump, cooling fan, got the exhaust put on and some other minor things done including burning a couple holes in the seat with the plasma cutter.:CRY: :CRY:
Pro i think i see some new side work your cutting there Bezel looks good .
Falcon the truck is looking great . I know your going to have alot of trouble getting out of the drivers seat once you test it out .

Pro70Z28, Very nice work! I am looking at it because I am messing with the gauges in my '32 style 'glass dash with TPI gauges, but I am limited to cutting holes for standard gauges.

Truck is looking really sweet Falcon, I was thinking that the grill shell was a little big at first, but when I see it with everything in place it looks perfect. Nicely done.

That was just what the doctor ordered NTF, the ol' El Camino is purring like a kitten. That little 305 vortec is a very smooth engine and has as much more power than the 350 that was in here.

Brought my 48 Plymouth home today so I though I'd post a few pics. This thing is really solid other than needing some floorpan work. It's going to go right on the chassis I finished for the 47 four door. Cant wait to start on it but it'll probably be a few months. I have to sell some stuff and make room, plus finish the truck, and put a new interior in my sons Firebird first.Also sold the 47 four door body on Ebay today after only 1 day on the auction. Some guy from South Dakota bought it for a restoration he's doing.
That baby is really clean and straight Falcon, what a score. And it fits on the chassis you allready had going, boy that couldn't work out much better huh? Is she the intended home for the little hemi?
