O K Dave, I couldn't resist. I e-mailed Folgers' advertisement dept with the idea for a commercial of an early Saturday morning in the garage with a guy working on his ride and drinking a cup of coffee, and his workbench lined with Folgers cans. We'll split the million dollar check when it get's here!  BTW, are you going to play yourself in the commercial or have them call Robert Redford in?Quote:

I am amazed at garages with Venetian blinds! All I have is screening but I won't show my work bench. I use the method based on "most used tools are on top" but may clean it up to install a new drill press. If it ever is cleaned up I will take a picture and let you think it is that way all the time! Even so the peer pressure is great so I may try to "get neat".

A clean desk (workshop?) is a sign of a sick mind:whacked: :p **) :whacked: **)
Have you seen a picture of Redford lately - he looks OLD!!!Quote:

Looks like we dont get a check, Dave. Here's the response from Folgers:

Well, good thing I kept on working today instead of sitting and waiting for the film crew and big check from Folgers!!!!! Dang, sure could use the extra bucks this month, too!!!!!
Today was as close to a decent day as we're going to get for awhile, so I went and got some more 20 ga. and replaced an empty welding bottle so I can stay locked up in the garage tomorrow....Overnight low to be -14F and tomorrow's high forcast for +7F!!! Not quite picnic weather yet!!!
Anyhow, got started welding in the patch panel for the driver's side wheel well on Tom's coupe, it's the last big patch to put in, just a few little ones left to do when this one is all welded in, then on to the fenders, doors, and deck lid!!!!
Got most everything else out from under the hood on the 'maro and started the sanding and grinding process to get it ready for some primer.... Also going to put in a removable top bracket for the radiator support to make engine installations a lot easier...
Now it's time to sit back and watch the replay of the Gatorade Duals at Daytona!!!!
Spent the day on Tom's coupe, well, maybe a little tinkering on the 'maro but not much!!!!! Got the last big patch put in, might even have the little coupe right side up next week!!!!!
Lookin' good Dave.
I got the driver's side door aligned, Quarter panel & door latch brackets welded in. Got the door all cut & filed for the bear claw latch. Install the latch tomorrow and then it's on the firewall.
I have to refab the dash bar that had to be removed to get the intercooler to fit under the dash. Then fabricate the intercooler brackets. Problee' do the brakes & steering column at the same time. Then rebuild the firewall to fit around all this stuff.
So, when we going down to Richard's to race??????
Really like to see your 'maro coming along Gary!!! Sure is going to be one fantastic car when it's done!!!!
I donno'. I'll just keep pluggin' away on it until spring work breaks loose. We'll see how far I can get.
Heck, if all my past dues just paid up, could finish the Ranchero and we could both spend the winter down there!!!!!!!!    a one man shop should not have 5 digit accounts receivables!!!!!! (yeah, I know who's fault it is!!!)Quote:

With all that Hair your COLD   WOWQuote:

I used a wire feed the other day myself, welded up a pipe bracket so I could bolt it between two walls to hang Pots & Pans up in the main kitchen. Will be drilling holes in the pipe and attaching hooks next week.
Today I finished my project of applying the tape, joint compound and primer to the prayer room I was working on - my "body work and priming" looks pretty good too.
Going over to Brandenton, near Tampa, tomorrow for some R&R, maybe even go swiming and see the Gulf. Decided not to go to the swap meet, if I'm still here the first weekend of March I'll go then.
The pictures are of an area that I drive past everyday going to work, yes Spring is coming.
Keep up the good work, and stay warm.
Doesn't look much like my neighborhood this time of year, Tom!!!!! I sure am ready for some of that spring weather, though it is supposed to get to 30 or so tomorrow!!! Still way too cold for me!
We're going to Austin Tx. in September for a wedding,,,,, might even do some house looking while I'm there, or at least a place to hang out in the winter!!!!
Dang rear end shop STILL not finished with my rearend, they ordered a pinion seal and it's taking forever. I made a great score at work. A company in my building moved their IT dept to an offsite location and gave me this cool rack that used to hold big power supplies. It's made of Unistrut and angle iron and it's making a perfect frame for the bed! Also, here's some tail lights I'm making out of some weird light fixtures that used to be above our security desk. I'm using connecting rods for brackets.
Should make a great box frame, and certainly can't beat the price!!!!
Got a bit of work done today, blocking on the side of the coupe and replace a couple panels on the inner wheel wells that had some surface rust on them. One side was the battery tray and the battery will be in the trunk now. Battery trays always wind up looking nasty so I just cut both sides out and am installing some new 20 ga. Might even have lost a couple more pounds on weight!!!!!
Looks good, Dave. You've been busy lately!
Yep watching all of Dave's work going on is better then any series iv'e seen on tv . He has lot more projects and keeps the custom to restore subject in motion .
Falcon your truck is changing fast . I should be warming garage but the family is coming over so one more day down .
Thanks guys... I got to stay busy, they don't let me out of the shop very often, ya know!!!! Got the heat turned up in the garage and just about ready to get at it!
Going to keep blocking on Tom's coupe today, and maybe set the hood back on the 'maro and start whittling out some sheet metal for the front end.... Working in the small garage is a lot different from having the big shop.... Can't just keep bringing them in, actually have to get something done now!!!! That, and no hired help to blame when things don't get done!!!!!
Dave sometimes help dont have to be hired . I learned everything i know by volunteer work. The gave me little things then to sanding for prep. Now not everybody can learn this business but you might find a natural.
That's how I learned too!!! Most of the kids that come around now want to know how much you'll pay them to help ya!!!!! Then, if you're lucky, they'll let you work on their car for free!!!! Go figure!!!!  :LOL:Quote:

I'm watching the PBA this morn at 11:30 . Think i may go out though till then and get the trans pump going .
You motivated me, Dave. I got out there today and welded in the rails for my gas tank and got it mounted. I used the tank out of that 50 Dodge I bought for parts. I got lots of good stuff out of that heap for myself, sold $500 in parts from it, and just sold the carcass last night for $100. Not bad for a $250 investment.:)
Nicely done falcon, looks very secure in that frame work. Did you use any insulation around the straps? I am going to have mine apart here shortly and I am looking for ideas on what to use.
No, I didn't but I probably need to so it doesn't rub a hole in it. Maybe some of that 2" wide foam tape thats adhesive on one side or something like that. What are you using?
To add some cushion between the intercooler and the mounting bracket, I went to Big "R" (Sort of a farm & fleet type store) and bought a truck mud flap. About 3/16" thick & nylon reinforced core should make it very durable. I should be able to get all the pcs. I need out of it and it was only about 5 bux.
Good idea, I'll try that. Thanks!
Whoever came up with Presidents day is pretty cool, cause it gave me another day in the garage this week.:) I got one bedside put together and trial fitted. These were off of a 65 Chevy longbed so i had to cut 30" out of the middle of them and weld them back together, plus patch a bunch of holes where the wheelwells bolted on. A full days work to get one to this point and the other one cut.
