Hey Dave, he wouldn't be mad until he found out!! The guy that owns the mopar that is!!! Picked up some of the last things I needed for my El Camino, should be able to hear it run tomorrow with a little luck.
[QUOTE=Tom F]
Well it was 78F in Orlando today and when I'm back home in MN next Sat. I'm thinking it will be in the low 30s BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
I got home today and it's only 16 F and snowing YUK YUK YUK:CRY:
Dave,
You've made some good progress this week. The corners look nice, and fenders bolted on....... I'm getting excided about it. That left rear fender where I welded in the patch is looking good, how did you fix it?
The roof....... I was planning to use the plywood that's on it and putting a Sun Roof from one of the Mustangs I junked out, BUT because the Coupe looks soooooooooooooo good I'm not sure that kind of a roof would do it justice. At one time I also thought about leaving it partially open with a flap that snaps in place. Not too sure now, a stock roof would look pretty good though.
I stopped at a guys place in Trinity Alabama on the way home and picked up a running board for the coupe, found his ad on Ford Barn.
Here's a picture of me this afternoon in front of my house. BRRRRRRRRRRRR
Tom
It's been a real winter this year, it snowed in Atlanta today! Only thing I can think is that everybody will be getting out this spring with thier cars and that will be good for our clubs car show!! The Kids need the money!!
Looks like somebody who came home a week early!!!! Supposed to start warming up tomorrow Tom.... I suppose you're the one who brought us the warmer air????
The fenders have cost me a few more grey hairs!!!! I did a lot of dinging, pinging, cuttint, stretching, and welding but I'm almost getting happy with them now!!!! They certainly were a challenge!!!!
Hope to have the body proper in primer early next week. The fenders are almost to the workable level now, and I'm saving the doors and deck lid for last!!!! Lots of other excitement around here when you were gone, but I won't bore the others with all the goings-on....
I got your email addy from you today, and will get a host of pictures of work in progress off to you tomorrow evening..
Welcome home Tom, and thanks for bringing us some warmer weather!!!!!
Yaaaaaaaaaaaa Yaaaaaaaaaaa that's the ticket, ya I brought warmer weather with me:LOL:   :whacked:Quote:

The chassis is still where I left it 2 1/2 months ago. I'll have to get busy an de-rust them running boards, radiator shell, head light bar, and other rusty items so mI can mate them up with Dave's master piece.
Tom, do you have a sun visor for the car or do I need to build one?????
I have a sun visor. The main things I'm missing are the inner door latches, window handles and regulators, and door hinges (not sure which ones are with the coupe).Quote:

HammerHammerHammerDollyDollyDollyhappy little Dave at work! Looking good but they look like alot of work huh Dave?
Yeah, they are... Not even close to done.... had to finish this fender so I could use it to make a pattern of the inner edge that bolts to the frame rail for the other fender----it's completely gone on the other side!!!!!! Stuff like this keeps you thinking, anyway....Quote:

The sap keeps flowing as long as it freezes at night and is above freezing in the day. Sure hope it's a long season.
Just one of the hazards with an 80 year old car....If it was easy, everybody would be doing it!!!!  :LOL:Quote:

Thanks Stu Cool for suggesting the Corvette motor mounts. They should work very nice.

Looks like it's going to work out just fine!
Thanks Dave. I just needed your encouragement and a little good weather. :D Man I love finally getting to do this. I can't tell you how much I've wanted to build one of these. I still have nearly every Hot Rod magizine put out since 1983. I'm nutz about these older rides. Now I can't wait to go on a vacation to Colorado in the thing. Just itching to get her out and stretch her legs for a long trip. LOL's. I know thats a long ways off. But I'll get there.Quote:

Thanks for the warning, Brian. I'm just going to use it on the floor but maybe a coat of 3M adhesive will be in order first. That would suck if it started coming loose. I was looking back at some earlier pictures of the coupe, Dave. That's an amazing job you did to save that body. I always wonder about cars that old. If they could talk to us they could tell some incredible stories. The generations of people they transported to work, church, shopping, to visit relatives. All of the family conversations that were carried on within their walls; from the birth of a new family member to the death of a beloved grandparent. They've seen it all. At some point they were traded to a new family, and then maybe another and another. One day someone put her in the barn or behind the shed and turned off the key for the last time where she became the playground for a young man who dreamed of his first time behind the wheel of his own car. Or maybe him and his sidekick pretended to be infamous bankrobbers as sped away from the police. You can almost see the little guy leaning out the window with his capgun yelling,"You'll never take me alive coppers!" And just when it looked like history closed the books and she was going to be absorbed back into the earth, someone looked at her rusted remains and said, "You're not finished yet." Now, after a lot hard work, she'll be part of someones family again; hearing all those intimate conversations as she takes them from one place to place. And people wonder why I think old cars are so fascinating. :)Quote:

Got the intercooler mounted finally.
I bent some aluminum strap & made 4 mounts & welded them to the cooler. I probably should have started on somethin' else as my first
aluminum welding project. Oh well, It looks like it'll hold.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...8/b565b264.jpg
I didn't want to solid mount it so I put rubber grommets in them with steel sleeves so I can torque the bold down with squashin' the little buggers.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...8/6a8c522e.jpg
Got the cold side plumbed to the plastic carb.

If I can get it in N' out without the boot through the firewall I'll weld the 2 pcs. together so I can put a clean lookin' grommet on the firewall.

Looks great Pro!!!! Lot's of plumbing to get the whole system installed!!!! Gonna be way kewl when you get it all together!!!!
Ummmmmmmmmm what kinda of things did the coupe tell about me? It didn't say anything about how frustrated I was with switching it's cowl did it?? I always wondered about how it got all of it's wrinkles; did it share that story with you Dave?Quote:

Got a bit more done.... Spent some time on the rear fenders for the coupe, got the area around the rear window blocked, and got the lower part of the right corner done on the front of the 'maro....
And now the bummers: Wednesday is "Dr. Day", 4 appointments at the VA, and Thursday I have to go to a funneral, then hurry back to Madison to man the question and answer table for the Spring Open House at the store for my pal (and partner on a few projects) Steve. The funeral is for a friend of mine, hate to say it but it's one of those deals where death is probably a better alternative to the life he had..... Still a sad day, though. Should get a huge morale boost at the Open House though, usually a lot of fun and a chance to chat with all the people I haven't seen all winter cuz I stay locked up in the garage!!!!!!!
They are both lookin' better all the time Dave.
BTW: I don't talk to my car too often. I don't like the attitude it gives me sometimes.
Thanks Pro! My cars don't usually give me a lot of attitude, usually they just tell me how they would like to be built!!!! However, ever since I made Pepper the shop manager, he just keeps getting a little more demanding every day!!!!Quote:

The coupe looks nice, great work. Another question about the area just below the left quarter window opening that was just about totally destroyed, how did you fix that up? Got a picture of that area? Attached picture shows the area.
Tom
Yeah, it's all fixed... Just a bit of pulling and some dingin' and pingin'... I'll get a pic of it next time I'm out in the garage....sounds like that won't be til Friday.....
That looks like a challenge....
Started mocking up the dash tonight. The "AC" unit doesn't fit completely under the dash, but I think I have a plan.

Good looking dash, who makes that?
Dave God be with you friend . I have one thats a Quad and has been in a chair since he was 21 from drugs . Glad i like cars .
I remember Pro saying he never gets enough time to get to the marro. since i've been here i have seen a whole lot of progress that he does.
Dave and you rip em out constantly . I think i need to get lessons from every one here on how to get to the garage after the normal day is over .
So many guys here at CHR making some great headway . Tell me is there a book that says get out there LOL. You guys are great and do give lots of inspiration .
I get the hour in here and there but not near as much as i would like .
Well, my normal day is all day in the garage....
I'm getting as much done as I can now because I soon will be too busy with work (I hope, got to buy food). Seven trucks to letter for a const. co. tomorrow, so my slow time might be coming to an end.
Dave. I've had the dash for awhile. If I remember right it was from fiberglass unlimited. It's going to need some work, (Got some flaws) not to mention I chopped it all up.
Oh well, if it was easy everybody would be doing it!!!!!  :LOL:Quote:

Pro I can't believe the quality of your work, your killing me!! Your car is Kicking ass, even though you think it's coming together slowly, it's coming along very nicely. Hang in there bud.
Thanks Brick, just hoping it meets Tom's expectations when finished.... He'll probably even get a gold star for hiring the handicapped!!!!!!!
