About 10 months ago I put up some pics of some random left over parts I had laying around and asked what folks thought should be done with them. Got a couple pages of suggestions, but truth be told, I already had something in mind before posting. I can't seem to find the old thread because of search limits to twenty pages, or it may have been one of the ones that just disappeared into the ether during one of the failures. Anyway, the first pic below is that previous one of the parts laid out, the next three are what has become of them. This is just a side line deal as the roadster in the background is the primary project here, so it will probably take a couple more years to become something.

Thanks Z, it's still got a long way to go and a lot more dingin' and pingin' but all in all it's really a fun project! Heading for the shop in a little bit and start doing a bit of work on the front fenders.... Still have to do the doors, too. They aren't real bad but will take up a bit of time!!!! This misalignment of the door at the bottom was drivin' me nuts. Final figured out the bottom of the quarter had gotten bent (in the jam). Now I can start the "Other left side" door :LOL: :LOL: . It looks like it will line up without much trouble, so I shouldn't have to spend much time on that one. :eek:

I did get my grill primered and mounted, along with the radiator. Also got headlights wired and assembled. My rearend should be done this week; the shop got the hubs off for me and they're putting a pinion seal in it while they've got it.
Hey, I resemble that comment!!!! I'm just too old and crippled to sit on the floor all hunched over working on stuff, upside down is a lot easier. A few more "unique opportunities" to work through on the 'maro and it's going on the rotisserie to do the rest of the work that needs to be done underneath it....Quote:

Too dang cold to go get some more 20 ga. and exchange the empty argon bottle for a full one so I started the rust removal process and dinging and pinging on one of Tom's front fenders.
Even worked on the 'maro for a bit, cut a big hole in the floor to start making room for the upper arms on the triangulated 4 link and 9" rear that's going in it.... The floor and everything is just about perfect on the car, no rust at all. Almost too nice to cut up, but hey, nothing is THAT nice!!!!!!:LOL: :LOL: :LOL:

I spent a bit of time in the garage today. Made the 'maro faster, removed another 28 pounds of weight! Did some more work in the back seat area making room for the 9" and upper bars, the 9" sure is a bunch bigger then that puny little thing that GM put in it. Also had to make some room to get the car a bit lower.... Before I came back in the house, did some more grinding on the inside of one of the coupe's front fenders getting the rust off it and applied the first treatment of Phix to it.... Not a lot of progress, but a bit more then I would have completed being a couch potato all afternoont!!!!:LOL: :LOL:
I worked on a maro too. Got tabs made & did a little cutting to get the left side rocker panel tucked under the cross member so it looks like the other left side. :eek:
Too cold to work too long. We had a high of 3.2°f today with high wind. :CRY:

I might have to come up with some sort of split radiator? Dunno' yet for sure. There will be an f-2 pro charger sittin' where the radiator is spoz' to be. I'll figure that out when I get to that point, I have some ideas. :whacked:
I just joined yesterday and I don't even know how to start a new thread.
I am working on restoring a 1947 Fleetmaster to a street rod. I have owned this car for 40 years but I only started the project last year when I retired.
I would like some questions answered by people who have been thru this process before. Can someone enlighten me on how to start a thread and insert pictures.

Pictures seem to baffle most folks at first. Go below your thread entry, you will find a box that says "Manage Your Attachments". Click on that, click "Browse" which will open your picture storage area on your PC, My Pictures or wherever you store them. You might have to scroll around for it - but once you find the picture, click on it, click on "Open", click on "Upload Your Attachment", wait until it says "Uploaded" then close the box. It wont show until you download your thread writeup. Picture size is important. Not sure what you are using to work on your photos, but I find that 1000pixels or 2.5 inches across the top works for me.

Here goes.
I started writing a document on my project. I am up to 42 pages. The attachments are some of the many pictures in the document.
Figure 3_1 is my car before I started last year. I had previously sandblasted and primed it (25 years ago). I decided it wasn't a very good job so I sanded it down again as shown in Figure 3_13.
Figure 5_11 shows the frame after I sandplasted it and sprayed on 2 coats of POR-15 anti-rust paint. I sprayed on 2 coats of black topcoat after this pictures was taken.
Img_937 is the GM305 that I was going to put in the Chevy.
I cleaned it, sprayed it with POR-15, then GM engine orange. I added Billet Specialties V-belt system.

I'd like to weigh in on this one. This may be the thread for people to post updates to their projects on, but---There are some builds on here that don't interest me. Thats not to say that there is anything wrong with the builds---just that they are not the type of things that make my heart flutter. If someone starts a thread about their build, then I can choose whether or not to subscribe to it. This is not to bash Denny!! Its just a bit easier to pick and choose which threads I am automatically notified of when new posts are added to them.---Brian

The picture was taken at Fantasy of Flight in Polk City FL. The guy built and flew it himself, has a nice Attraction. I'm always impressed with Vintage Aircraft, but what impressed me the most was that he had about 50 brand new just out of the crate 1942 built Allison Engines plus a whole mess of used ones. He says he got his money from his rich grandparents.Quote:

For as nice as the outside of the body was on the 'maro, the previous owner's idea of detailing under the hood was nothing more then a rattle can of black paint!!!! Lots of sanding and cleanup to do before it's ready for the big transplant!!!!!! Oh well, very little rust and what is there is just surface rust!!!!

Nice planes! We also have an aircraft museum at the Richmond airport but it has mostly later military planes and I am only across I-95 from the Hanover County Airport with a lot of small aircraft circling overhead on any given day so I am used to seeing them a lot, but all those Allisons are a sight to see! The history of the "Victory Engine" is such that they made so many of them that they were used until 1935 and later by merely swapping in new ones after so many hours of service so probably a lot of the used ones could easily be rebuilt if parts are available. Still the chassis modifications required to use one of those engines makes them useful only for speedboats or dragsters, but they are still very interesting.

I have my bolts and nuts separated by size in quart Classico spaghetti sauce bottles with the smaller and odd ball stuff in glass baby food jars left from GC visits. Some of the SS fasteners are in coffee cans - those shown are about full. These are the new fasteners, a full box of used but reusable stuff is under my bench as well as the 'back room'. A guess on value - probably in excess of $1000, with more added regularly. Most come from McMaster-Carr as the local hardware store fasteners all say from an unnamed Far Eastern country
