That color is beautiful, Don. I think your running boards look really good, I wouldn't change them.
Yours looks great, too, IC2!
You'll get there, Bobby. just keep pluggin away; one section at a time. You'll be done before you know it.
I thought about an aftermarket grille, Steve. Just thought I'd try my hand at building one. I'm not crazy about it; I'm going to try and put some expanded metal behind it and see what that does to the looks.
Man Don, I really like that color, and the running boards are cool and will look good anyway you have them. A good idea IMHO, won't be very long and you'll be doing some all day cruising in that beauty.
IC2 your car is looking fantastic also, Dave that yellow jumps off the screen, I bet it really pops out in the sun huh? Very nice.
Wow, ok I can see some orange in that last picture you put up. That is really cool, sort of a pearl or something, very cool. The paint nowadays is getting better and better. I'm going to have to hide my car with it's scruffy 2 year old paint!HeHeHe!
Very cool, now what color is the "I Scream" going to be Falcon, I may have to repaint my car before bringing her out just to keep up with the jones!
My father used to work for an airline interior panel company, he was a color matcher, he had given me 2-lb zip lock bags of pearl, red, blue, gold and green. Now it only takes about a teaspoon to mix into a gallon of paint so I m set for several life times..
Brick, I'm going for basic white. No sense in over complicating matters.
Got the motor back from the machine shop tonight so now I just need to order parts. Everything turned out standard; this thing was in great shape inside. I decided just to make another panel for the side of the hood. With everything being flat and bent at straight angles on this thing; it's been great practice for making panels. I drilled out the spotwelds, cut a new piece and after a few trial and errors on the brake, it came out pretty decent.
Front end looks sweet falcon, and the grill is a good look, everything blends together nocely huh? Very cool.
Haven't had time to work on the "Z" lately but I did get a chance to finish up the lettering on a friend of mine's F/C yesterday afternoon. Sorry Dave, it's a blown alky BBC. I put the name on it after he had it painted towards the end of the season last summer, then it kinda' got sidelined over the winter. I did the lime green accent stripe with one shot enamel. That was a lot easier when I had younger eyes. Everything else was done in vinyl. It will be on display at the Drag Expo in Schaumburg, IL coming up in March, so we wanted to get it finished for that and the upcoming season. He's also been asked to appear at "Pinks All Out" this summer @ Rt. 66. That's a June date I think.

I took the last shot from the opened garage door. Camera picked up the falling snow.
Great looking lettering and car--despite the BBC....
Nicely done pro, you have a good touch. I bet that car hauls the mail huh? sweet.
Hey Pro, I don't suppose you'd come over and do my trailer without having to charge a little mileage, huh????:D:D
I got a few hours in today; these side braces were pop riveted on so I drilled them out to 1/4", put 1/4-20 bolts in and welded the nuts on the back. I'll use stainless bolts when I put it together for real. Also got the block and heads painted, and finished cleaning up the welds on the piece I made for the center console. There's a ton of room in this thing but I still have the headlight and wiper switch to mount. Maybe I'll put a cigar lighter in to take up some space. I dont want it to look too empty. Ordered all the rebuild parts for the engine so I should be putting it together this week, too.
They also make some really nice looking allen head screws that would look good on the side brace, used a bunch of them on my '71 pickup under the hood for the inner fenderwells, etc. The little things really make a difference... Wouldn't have a nostalgia looking clock to put in the dash, would you????
Well with all the fires burning I had to cheat . This guy came and worked my 31 at my house . Since then he has moved into a shop . So I took the 37 up there for him to do his sheet metal magic on it .
I will get it back later this year but done and ready to do drive line . I am taking that to him also to set in place all I will do is rebuild it later . I may get one done yet :D . He is good , he is fast , and right now I am one of a couple who got in the door first .

Nice looking shop, Bobby! Looks like you picked the right guy to do the work, plus you get the bonus of watching him work on other cool stuff.
Dave, that's a great idea on those screws and I think I know of a good source to get them. I dont have a clock but that's a good idea; I'll see what Evilbay has to offer.
Pro, your lettering looks fantastic! The guy should be really happy with it.
Nice shop for sure and a great line up of cars, I'll take the body up on the shelf if you run out of room!
Tony that is a fiberglass body there . He looking for a steel body at the time .
Falcon wowzer to you that big sheet metal is moving along . Drive train and all coming in soon .
Dave those camaro's take alot of work and that customer will be a amazed one at that .
Dont think I ever did this one but a little vid of walk around .

Nice video! Looks like the plan is in motion. Did you say something about chopping it right near the end?
My rebuild kit came in so I hope to assembling an engine this weekend but no garage time until Sunday after church. I've got this thing called Valentines day to attend to. I'm taking my wife to the Patti Labelle and the O-Jays concert at the Fox Theatre in St Louis so I rented this little gem for us to drive tomorrow night.
Yeah he had asked if I wanted a chop . But I dont , it looks too good the way Henry did it . Also If I did chop it , the most would only be 1 1/2 inches is all . So after a short time of thinking I am leaving the roof all alone .
I think you're right to leave it; that car has a beautiful roofline just like it is.
Falcon yes it does a perfect look .
I think I'm going with this for decals.
That is great falcon, I am loving the balloons, very cool and nostalgic. The only "I Scream" truck that sounds like a vegtable, "Potatoe-potatoe-potato"! LOL!!
If you ever decide to call it "I Scream" you will have to put a big blown power plant in it with narrowed rear end with fat tires. :D:D
I was trying to have someone design an IScream logo for the side but after having three guys commit to drawing something and none of them coming through, I figured I'd just go with what was readily available. Yesterday was one of those days; put the whole short block together and then glanced at the ring installation diagram as I was throwing it away. I'd put the second compression ring in upside down on every cylinder.:CRY::CRY: I'm glad I saw it before I kept going, but pulling all the pistons again really sucked!
A good "Opps" helps everything get done right Falcon! Hell you didn't even bleed so you got off easy! LOL!!! I'm with ya all the way bro, two steps forward one back!! Hang in there!
Hi! Just got her back from the paint shop, looks great! Rust spots and chips on roof repaired and the hand pin stripping finished up nicely. Removed "the thing" from the center of the dash and had it pin stripped to match the rear image. Much nicer look in my opinion.
Spoke to the Radiator shop again, what he meant (He's Cuban so his English was limited.) by "too much pressure" was that the radiator itself was mounted to tightly to the frame and hood! When the body flexes, there's stress on the radiator which is why the seem split after I damaged the right fender in the blow out! In a normal sized radiator, such as in modern cars, it's not such an issue, he said, but with one as big as this, with an X-frame, it's an issue. I looked at the mount and will be adding some rubber pads and spring bolts to eliminate any problems in the future.
Put it up on the lift last night and went over her with my mechanic. Chassis looks nice and tight, well built! Ordered an adapter plate, universal push rod and access door for the dual brake booster/dual master cylinder and it looks like a fairly straight forward modification. Also replacing the front springs/shock with adjustable coil over's from speedwaymotors, replacing the washers on the rear coil over's with the proper rubbers (and raising the rear about 3/4") and replacing all suspension bushings as they are pretty well gone anyway. Pan hard bar needs some work, bushing and an adjustment. Will pull the rear disc's off when we do the rear coil over's and see what needs to be refreshed there, but it seems to be pretty well balanced on the braking so my quess is it's fine. Will do some compression tests and leak down on the engine sometime first part of next week, but the mechanic doesn't anticipate any engine issues…
Moving some of the hoses in the engine bay aside, the heater hose was melting against the exhaust manifold. Replacing the exhaust manifold with some chrome ones and wrapping the exhaust pipes where they come close to the starter and to the brake booster.
Had my upholsterer over as well, probably adding additional red and grey in the interior, building a small front console, under dash cover and adding a 50/50 bench seat in the back. Will send along pics when we start the interior for you to see. Moving away from the tweed to gray cloth/red vinyl and some sculptured inserts on the door panels. More "up to date" look. Adding SS cup holders in the rear arms and staggered in the front console..
Pics on my profile.
Nice 34! Looks like they did a great job on it; how far do you think until she's ready for a road test?
Well, here she is. Still needs a few things bolted on but it's pretty much together. Now back to work on the body; I hope to be ready to shoot some primer in the next month. Also found a guy on the HAMB who had a factory assembly manual for this thing. This is one cool dude; mailed me the book for nothing so I could have it copied. He said just mail it back when I'm done.
Engine looks good Falcon, neat color!!!! Them Oldsmobubbles sure do like a lot of bolts in the valve covers, huh???? Sure was nice of the guy to let you copy his book!
Thanks, Dave! I was looking for Olds metallic blue but couldn't find any. This is Pontiac metallic blue; just a shade lighter but still nice. This is the first Olds I put together; definately some different procedures than other engines I've done but I guess they all have their unique quirks about them.
what gears do you have in the rearend? with all the torque from that olds that little truck should run really good, and do some killer burnouts, that would be pretty cool to take camping ,,all the stuff would fit in back, and stay dry,
3:73 with a limited slip. I'm thinking the same: killer burnout machine! I'll definately do a video and post it.
X2 on that engine it looks great .
Man, it was tough to work out in the shop today. Just gettin over a bout of the stomach flu and I feel like I had the crap beat out of me. I made it about 3 hrs and had to call it quits. Hopefully I'll get more done tomorrow. I need a shifter as the old one was mounted on the dash and was junk. I had this old hurst ratchet shifter and this old truck shifter so I did a little slice and weld on the handle and came up with a ratchet shifter that will look like an old stocker. The floor was covered in rubber cement from the old factory mats so I spent a few hours with the little angle grinder and some 50 grit discs and got a pretty good size section cleaned up.
Yes I have tried and tried to post even one photo of my car and I keep getting told that my files are TOO BIG. So after pulling to much hair out of my dumb head I think I have worked out how to resize photos in my library. So here goes attempt number whatever.....
Didnt think ya had that much to pull out...:D:D
You got ya door openings cut out yet??:D
