Looking sweet!
The best part is the inevitable moment it demands it's pound of flesh, you won't even see the blood spots! Can't think how many times I've just painted something and proceed to smack a knucle and bleed all over it! Beautiful job painting it! What color will the engine bay be or will it be the same?
Engine bay will be ? Not really sure what color combo it will be. The frame and suspension components are black along with parts of the engine so maybe the rest will be the red. All inputs on this matter are welcome. I'll be looking at other trucks and cars to see how folks did theirs.
Thanks to all.
I like the firewall to be body color and the inners frame color. You could do all that black too. It just really depends how you want it to look in the end IMO.
That maybe a good combo. Too much of one color can be overwhelming sometimes.
Pulled the cab off today and started working on getting the new rear-end set up. 1st thing already need to make new tail pipes from mufflers back. I'm sure there will be more, brake lines etc.
Here's a pic of the engine and trans back in the frame. I'm setting up the quick change rear.

Lookin' very nice!
Ditto Rogers comments. Nice work!
Thanks for the complements guys. Its becoming a sickness to paint every nut , bolt and washer etc. I blasted the starter and painted it also. I'll be afraid to drive it for fear of getting a chip in the paint.
just had a big catch-up on this -very impressive and nice work.
Thanks Sharpmark !
Today I put the cab back on the frame to do more things that need doing, steering, gas pedal and other things that I need to rethink. Here's a few pic's.

It's looking like you've made great progress. The picture of the back of the motor, it looks like the valve covers are very close.. or is it just the picture?
pics are always decieving.. LOL..
New rear required a new set of tail pipes. So here they are. Old rear pictured.

I'm sure these new tail pipes will be scrapped when I put in the triangulated suspension. one step forward 2 back.
Another task done. Installed new wiper towers in the cab today.

Now to Air Ride or Not ?
Nice progress
I'd air ride it now and be done with it.
deleted double post , the electronic gremlins are after me again.
Air Ride arrives tomorrow and the rear is in place with All-Thread rods to do any fine tuning before the suspension is welded in.
The Air Ride I bought through a dealer vice Air Ride. Why ? Because Bill at BMAC's Restoration gives a discount for Military. For me it it was $500. off. BMAC Restoration
Not only the discount, but he was very helpful with questions and was willing to stay on the phone through all my maybe not to smart of questions. That speaks volumes to me.

Very cool, and the discount is a bonus! Also good to have a dealer who seems to know customer service is a part of being in business.
1st step to the air ride system getting the 4 link triangulated in proper place square with the front. Lots of measuring and remeasuring. here's a pic http://i990.photobucket.com/albums/a...psgwmmkxcy.jpg
More pic's of rear. all is tacked in place and moves with no binding. Still have to cut off some stuff and grind things smooth. And weld all brackets. http://i990.photobucket.com/albums/a...pssayf0nob.jpg

Coming along great. Can't wait to see the air bag setup...
Looks good.
"......all is tacked in place and moves with no binding. Still have to cut off some stuff and grind things smooth. And weld all brackets......"
Unless you've done it most people don't realize what a time eater that is.
.
It looks really nice! I was just in the mock up stage on my 40 frame when I stopped working on it. Definitely a lot of measuring and checking before things get tacked.
Yes there was a lot of time spent getting it right, 2 days to get 4 brackets in there correct place. If I measured once I measured 10 times. Now the frame is stripped back down and on to final grind and paint or so I hope.
Better to check 10 time then cut once! :) Especially with wood!Ask me how I know? :) ;)
Started putting new control arms on and needed to replace the mounting bushing/tube. Here's some pic's of the work.

new one needed to be turned down .100" to fit existing holes.

all welded in

a little grinding and back to the paint booth.
Today I boxed in the cross member, strength and close the big hole.
http://i990.photobucket.com/albums/a...psbmk2zfni.jpg
I once used the lower crossmember for the radiator overflow tank---------Since the car used an antifreeze mix there was no rusting issues and it allowed a little cleaner area around the front
I like the boxing and the triangular gusset on the backside. Should be hell for stout.
Got a little paint sprayed this week between the rain work and mowing grass this was all .

Very body have a Great Memorial Day and remember those that gave All.
looks like jack stands!!!!!!!!!!!!Remember back THEN when every garage/gas station had these old axle housings for jack stands??
Used a pair of those to swap out the tranny and rear end in my 36 in 65.
I also remember them used for grinding stands and vise stands. Youth, ain't it wonderful? Got a case of it the other day when one of the Mustang Boys was driving one of our old delivery trucks, called and said it was flooding and would not run. Told him the choke gets stuck sometimes and he should just prop it open. Mustang boy is in his late 30's and had no idea what I was talking about since he has never had a carburetor before. I sure felt old.
Another step forward.
