Looks real good!
Are you going to be able to flatten out your metal to match the door thickness? Maybe just cut 2 the right shape and weld them on?
That looks better already Navy!
Here's a few pic's of the frame during sand blasting and and sealing with epoxy primer.

Looking good Navy
Nice work sir!
Very good .
Looks great!!!! This is the time when all the hard work and attention to detail starts paying off!! Well done!
Thanks guys ! It sure is hard not to miss any spots, just when I thought I had it all covered I'd find another spot.
A little closer to getting this truck rolling again. Front end all done or so I thought. Had it all together and when I went to grease the ball joints grease came out around the crimped shoulder of the disc where the fitting is screwed in. This wouldn't be a big deal but the darn thing was welded and painted and the whole suspension was together. I took it apart welded the the seam of the ball joint, put in it the lathe and turned it a bit to clean it a bit. Installed the joint, sand blasted the area of need and repainted . I'll install it tomorrow.

X2 - glad to see you're making progress.
x3 keep at it
It looks great with paint on it. I hope to get there someday!
Started to assemble the truck one more time to fit all the sheet mrtal and install hood latch and door latches. First thing I ran into was tire and inter fender clearance. Here's my fix's.

The hot rodder way.. a little heat and a little hammer.. going good.
better to find out now then final assembly !
thanks for the updates. :toocool:
Good thing you checked! Did you finalize and finish your door issue from earlier?
No the doors are still on the the list of things to fix. I did get some Bear claw latches to install in the doors.
Today I started to check the fit of the fenders before repairing the rust holes and the passenger side is really screwed up. Doesn't fit against cab worth a hoot. Than I thought I'd set the hood on and what sorry fit that is. I got rid of the fiberglass hood and bought a metal one but it fits like $hit. The whole front end looks like it came from different trucks and maybe cars by the way they fit. This may well be the most difficult part of this build, it makes the roof replacement look easy.
Today's endeavors involved the right front fender. The bottom that attaches to the running board was rusted out so I cut up another one I bought for fender repairs still have to weld it back together. http://i990.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps57b40214.jpg

My hood seems to be an inch ( 1" ) too wide for the cab at the cowl but not at the nose, maybe because of it being a 42 cab and a real 40 hood ? It sure gives me cause to pause and think. Happy Thanksgiving to all
Navy, is it a car hood or a truck hood? Nice fender patching! I wouldn't get discouraged on the front clip alignment. I've been told by a lot of great body and panel guys that the 37-40 fords are the hardest of all pre-war cars to align the front sheet metal on. I would assume it is the same for the trucks through 41 too.
I took the hood off a 40 p/u, it was just laying on the fenders with no cross member in it. I have a 40 truck cross member with rusted off ends that I'll be splicing new ends on that I cut off a 40 Deluxe hood cross member. Trying to get the front right, it makes the whole truck.
Here's the latest work on the hood. The cross member/brace was needing some repair before putting it in the hood. First on the list was the Hinge studs, I used 3/8 shoulder bolts and turned them down, drilled and tapped them. http://i990.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps29cc91ff.jpg

MERRY CHRISTMAS too all and to all a fast Hot Rod.
Nice work on machining those.
Just a few more tasks completed on the hood repair. Still need to do the final grinding and weld into the hood, but the brace is repaired. Happy New Year !

Ok here's some more pic's. Front fender repair. as I was grinding off some bondo I ran into more brass what a pain. That was the old way of fixing fenders and I did a bit my self many years ago. Sure splatters when you weld over it.

Fender/running board mounting holes needed lots of added metal more grinding to come

Wow, It's hard to imagine brass being an inexpensive repair material!
I've not run into brass myself, but I have found lead.
AH Brazing! Brings back many (not so fond) memories! LOL..
You've been making good progress, even tho' the parts and pieces have been a bit worn. Keep up the good work and as always thanks for making time to share the pics with us.

Thanks for the reply's guys. I was hoping to drive the truck this summer but I'm going back to work (6 year lay off) building another WW1 airplane so that will put an end to any major amount of work getting done. I'll have some cash flow for the truck and maybe I'll make better use of my time.
WW2 planes...................................KKKKKKKKKKKooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool!
WW1 planes are even cooler!
