Ditto, love the the plane work.
OK here's a bit of the forty.
I wanted to raise the rad. 1.25 inches and this is what I came up with. Leaf spring bushings and frezze out plugs. When tightened down they have just a touch of movement. I will blast and paint the plugs black.
The others pic's are my body work. http://i990.photobucket.com/albums/a...psbp2ggafl.jpg

Brilliant!
Nice work on the truck! The blocking looks like it is going well. The airplane is coming a long nicely too!
Here's a few pic's of the inside of my winters quick change rear, the quick change section.

thats going to play music-------
You'll have to post a video of it so we can hear it! :)
Well its been slow on truck but here's a plane pic.
Just been painting some small parts for the truck as time allows which isn't much. Have a job sure is cutting into my hotrod time, but it sure makes buying parts easier !

Like it. Looks like one wing is finished!
I put the engine back in I hope for the last time. Now I can get the drive shaft made. Got the vac hose run to the brake booster. Started sand blasting more parts prepping for primer. slow going.

Slow going, but it's yours, and it's gonna be great when it's done!!
A few pic's of the truck and the plane. Just finished the new firewall for the plane, thats the oil tank sitting in front of it, with the fuel tank above that. The truck now has a complete shifter installed and tranny lines are just about done, waiting on the condenser unit so I can figure out where the tranny cooler will mount in relation to it. I'm running trans fluid through the rad and then through the extra cooler and back to the trans.

Lookin' good! A word on the tranny plan - The purpose of running the tranny fluid through the radiator heat exchanger is to transfer heat such that the tranny stays within operating range. This means that it may get heated by the engine coolant during warmup and low load operation during cold weather, and may be lose some heat to the coolant in times of heavy loading, like towing heavy loads. Running the external cooler as you stated may result in your tranny running cold most of the time, which can be as bad or worse than running hotter. IMO external coolers are only needed for extreme operating conditions, and even then they need a means of controlling flow based on temperature, or cycling a fan to control the air flow. Again, my opinion.
Great Pics and thanks for sharing them. I'll echo Mr. Spears thoughts on the trans cooler.
The plane is amazing.. thanks again.
Both look great, and I agree agree with 34-40 the plane is amazing! Do you have any different pictures of the fuel tank setup or a wider angle shot, having trouble figuring out the orientation of things! Planes from the past fascinate me!
Your chassis looks great! The plane is looking awesome!
Ok here's another pic of the plane, ok its a poor pic.

Here's a couple pic's of the finished engine mount for the se5 plane. There are over 400 parts, washers, bolts, nuts, screws and brackets used to hold bulkheads # 1,2,and 3 together no wonder I was sick of working on this part. The truck is waiting for the new rack and pinion to come in, the pressure line seat was shot on the old one.

Nice work. Such a cool project, thanks again for taking the time to post photos
Got the Rack and Pinion for the truck. I'm using a T-Bird rack, new no rebuild. Have to paint yet. I also got my gas line run up to the carb. I used Aluminum tubing and covered it with a very thick shrink tubing that has heat activated adhesive on the inside and it bonded to the tube very well. Mounted the tubing to the frame rails with some aircraft grade adel clamps, just happen to fine some laying around the shop. I left the last foot or so uncovered as can be seen in the pic.

More nice work!
I like your idea of shrink wrap on the thin wall aluminum fuel line! I have a roll hanging on the wall, purchased by the guy who started buying stuff for the '32, and I've been hesitant to use it fearing damage from a flying rock, or worse. Your shrink wrap sounds like a good approach. Mind sharing your source?
Nice catch Roger, I missed the shrink wrap on the aluminium! What a great idea indeed. Might have to do that to the portion of line exposed on both ends of the frame body.
Here's a couple pic's from the label on the shrink tubing. I also measured the wall thickness at .030 . I got mine at local electronic's supply store.

http://i990.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps1pccpwhn.jpg Still need to make the wrapper install gauge and tubing etc.
The cut/half moon shape is for the machine gun. Tank will also be pressurized aprox 2-3 psi, they didn't have fuel pumps.
Cool baffles. Do you really have the lead slinger?
That's really a great tutorial.. almost step by step on how to build a tank.
As always, thanks for thinking of us and sharing the info.
Very nice work! That is a slick way to do it!
after 2.5 years I finally have a drive shaft.

After talking to my tranny guy here in Tx. I decided to go with the extra tranny cooler. Today I put the a/c and cooler on the rad and ran the lines. Maybe just maybe this truck will see the road next summer.

ahh clecos-----------I've got 3 buckets of them-and maybe 6 or 7 pliers------just wish I still had a air/hydraulic rivet tool
If you need a test pilot I'll reserve a day or so??????????????
After the test flights are completed, you may like to give a run or two with 185 lb of ballast in the passenger seat...
