New plane, yes post photos please!
sad attempt of video upload failed again
Here's a link to the video file that Navy was trying to post. I'll let him explain.

Thanks for the help Roger!
Way cool sounds, I had it cranked up and a smile on my face. Thanks Navy!
Ok This is the Se5 start up for the first time after hours of synchronizing the twin mags, they trail one behind the other a bit don't remember the the degrees, coupled together to the engine with coupling disc like devices loaded with springs to keep them all in place . Yes that's my thumb in the video I had to hold on to my hat and camera as the dust/dirt was flying around, even at idle you've got to lean into the wind to walk up to the cockpit. The plane is gone to its owner in Va. I retired from building aircraft but still go see whats happening at the shop once in while, maybe I'll get some pic's of the Tommy and post them. No that's not a rubber prop bending HA HA
The math behind the magic bending prop would make an interesting lecture.
Congrats sounded fantastic. Love old planes
That did sound awesome and the plane looked very nice too!

Wow very cool! You must feel proud restoring this!
40"S DOOR REPAIR pic
I'm pleased with it, it was not really a restore it was mostly built from raw materials except for the metal fittings, gauges and engine. I could have built 3 or 4 hotrods in the time I've spend working on these plane over the the last 10 years. Now I hope to at least finish this 40 for next summer .
I'm getting antsy to do a little flying again-take a stress test/ekg'echogram next 2 days for FAA class one physical--would love to take that one up for an hour or so-------
I'm with Steve, that plane is so cool.. Congrats to you and the team in getting it done.
Now, back to the 40! Looks like the door bottoms want some lovin'.. 8-)
just spent some time looking back through my post and now I'm wondering what the hell happened ? It seemed I was making progress and now its a crawl forward with leaps backwards. If I don't get this in paint by April it will go up for sale and I'll take up knitting.
April Huh??? Hmmmm...
Got any plane overhauls lined up?? (yes, I'm smirking!)
here's an update on the truck. Over the years of building this I have changed things, springs control arms , rear end. In doing so the stance changed and now I have to correct that First I tried to modify the shock mount cross member, it worked to lower the rear as needed.
In doing so it put the air ride shocks way out proper angle.
The only way to fix these mess was to cut it all out and start new, new shorter shocks and raise the cross member to its highest point. Currently waiting on new shock before I install cross member just to be sure.
Of course I had to cut the tail pipes off to make adjustment there. In the end it will be better looking riding etc I just look at the other stuff as prototypes. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Yep, first (couple'a) times for practice right!?!?! LOL..
Do you have plans for the old new shock waves? Nice work. I've found myself changing stuff and making myself more work for myself too. Haha
After blasting my door I found some ugliness and here's how I removed most of it so far.
still more to do but its got curve vice flat. will up date as it progress's
The damage didn't come from the sandblaster did it ? I've been down that road and learned my lesson well. Media abrasives warp a flat panel in a big hurry.
Quite ingenious I think... thanks for sharing.
Not from blasting, blasting is fine if you use small blaster, mine are 1/8 dia. with fine sand with low volume of sand , takes time but no warping. It took me 2.5 hours to do 1 door and still had to DA it a lot, no commercial blasting those guys just want to get it done and out of the shop IMHO. The more I look at the sheet metal on this truck the more I fine that needs repair. Sometimes I wish I had RatRod mentality towards my build, but its just not me.
shock mount update
After cutting out the the last ton of steel I having finally finished the cross member for the rear shocks.
1/4" x 1.5 tube plugged with solid bar stock where shocks mount and in the center where I had to make a small cutout to be sure it would not hit the rear.
In order to get the shocks to a less than 15 degree angle I also had to make a lower shock bracket, 1/2" plate was used.
new tails pipes are done just no pic's
Looking good. I like the way the lower mount bolts in 'cause when it's actually being driven you might find that the 10 or 15 degrees can be added back in to help smooth out the ride, I did. On mine the tops had another hole closer to the middle as well as lower mounts like yours. After driving the car awhile I found the rear suspension harsh, I first moved up 1 hole to gain angle and it was better slightly. So I then moved the tops closer together and it got better still. Maybe someday I'll get fussy and change the springs but it's good as is.
Nice work Navy.
finally got my new bed sides and front, sanded and in epoxy primer.
]gota wait on the weather again to warm up, burning through the propane
Looking Great!
That's got to feel great! They look nice from here!
Yep, what he says. That's a lot of working and it's looking good now.
Looking nice, that color is the primer? Looks good !
