Way to go Novanut, another CHR member in the Rags! This place has the best of the best I have always said.
Chassis is looking really good Bluestang, starting to look stout as hell.
I'm going to days at work for the summer hope to really make some head way . Be able to get more hours in not having to get ready for work in the afternoon .
Dave yep this kind of wrenching on cars bring out the sore knuckles .
Brick sounds like your going to have a concert hall in the Chevy .
Ya, the hearing isn't what it used to be!
I finished the installation of my hidden door hardware, I can finally get in my car!
Never thought it would take so much thinking to put something together .Coming up with a idea for a transmount took a bit . It would have been easier if there was no tilt to the trans im sure . Triying to keep with the 45 deg look of the webbing . This is what i came up with its still in rough stages but i'm geting it close . Plans are to unbolt when needed still have to put drops in then brace to frame .
That looks strange sitting sideways like that, meaty though, very cool. It's going to be plenty stout by the looks of it.
Still causes me to tilt my head Brick but its normal . I hope stout is in the works thats a hard part of learning to build .
Got the 400 in the shop right now. Going .030 and looking about 350hp coming along pretty good next step is paint and stickers and suspension. pictures to come soon. To many projects 83 trans am with 350, 86 h.o. mustang, 74 nova getting parted out! 86 v-6 firebird, 54 ford with chevy guts, and a 80 monza on the way.
Hi preyn and welcome in all great people here and top notch builders. Except for me im learning .
No jack or rope trans is hanging on its own mount . My hat is off to you guys again my brain hurts from all that thinking .
That should hold it. Tired of measuring angles yet????
Yes but there is more left aarrgg .
Looking good bluestang, like it would come out pretty easy, well done.
Welcome Preyn, waitin' for pics of the projects.
Ok, I'm an idiot....why is the left side 45 longer causing it to lean?
**edit** nevermind, I figured it out. Weird cat weird I say..
Ok here's the plan. The blue 48 Dodge is so rusted underneath it could possibly disintigrate at any moment, BUT it is complete and has a good title. The green 47 Plymouth is a really straight body with very little rust and will serve as the builder. Kinda nice it was already apart. I've got a 95 4.6 DOHC Ford engine that come hell or high water, will go in there. They're nice street rod motors; 290 HP stock, all aluminum, 425lbs, and lots of speed parts available. They look a lot like old hemis with the huge heads, therefore my idea about putting it in an old Chrysler product. Anyway, Monday is d-day; I'm almost done with my wife's hardwood floors so I took a vacation day to start on this. Nothing more exciting than that first tear down day of a new endevor. More updates and pics to come, wish me luck and good luck on all of your projects.:)
4.6 nice score falcon true they have been out long enough for some mods to them . They are a wide engine and cant wait to see you shoe horn it in .
Now your talking Falconvan, looks like the combination of the 2 will make a nice cruiser. Welcome aboard and keep the info and pics coming.
Hey Brickman,
How far is West plains from St Louis?
Its close to 200 miles between the 2, is that where Festus is?
I have been busy trying to get ready for our show in 2 weeks. Mostly working on my console, the upholstrey part of things is a challenge for me. There is more to it than meets the eye.
Good to hear I'm not the only one that is "upholstery challenged"!!!!!!  :LOL:Quote:

Yup. some extra bracing and gussets would be good. Never have had a center frame section become too rigid!!!!!
I'm not trying to be a butt nugget but when do you know you have enough bracing when there is no blueprint?
Brick when Dave tells me LOL . I'm just trying to look at all angles and hold them still . I have been looking at frame manufactures to get a idea on what they did also . I think some of them that are well webbed are built to hold a big block . There are a few with just a few cross braces and ties . I'm hopefull this would hold a big block but i'm sure it will never see more then a 351w.
But look at what 3 photo chopped in hot rod lounge mmmm EYE CANDY
That is one cool old ride! I forgot how good plain old Crager SS wheeels can look. By the way Brick, Festus is about 30 miles south of St Louis. Good luck on getting ready for the show. This will be the first year in a while I haven't had a cruizer for spring. I sold my 70 Monte Carlo SS to get the money for the Dodge project.
Did a bit of mockin' up of the ice box for the "Z" today. By the time i get a fuel cell & a battery back there, there ain't gonna' be much luggage space left. Then I looked for space for the intercooler. goodbye glove box.
Oh well.... If you leave the parachute in the shop, should be able to pack a couple pairs of jeans and 3 t-shirts in there!!!!!  :LOL:Quote:

Then, there's my "students" first ever paint job, still needs the old cut and buff, think he did real good though!!!!! Next item on the list is take the suspension apart and lower the truck!!!! Some of the 4WD guys wish there's sat up this high!!!!!
Pro you'll only need room for a quick change of drawers after the first run with it LOL.
Dave great teaching if that was a first for him . That pick up is looking good oh and so is your Ford LOL you know im kidding .
Great to have the pros around so even a novice can learn .
Falcon old shiny 5 spoke work well on allmost anything ive seen them on .
I'll pass on the congrats to him, Bob. He has painted some small parts, and practiced technique on some body parts but the 70 was his first complete. With some practice, I think he'll be a good painter....
Got some paint on the rest of the cab of my pickup, started wet sanding on Bill's. Bill did the painting on mine, too. A couple runs in the clear to wet sand out, but all in all not too bad at all!!!!
Dave trucks are looking good there kinda of close maybe a new brand name coming soon LOL.
I have had to sand out a few runs in my day , paint stick with some paper made a nice flat surface to hit the high spot on them .
There's a couple of runs in the clear, no big deal to take care of when I'm doing the cut and buff.... Thanks for the comments...
It's been so long since i did one im sure i'll be sanding a few . i'm wanting to try a HVLP on this one i have a old hood of 67 to test out on .
HVLP? Brain fart, what does that stand for?
The trk's are looking awesome Dave, whats a little dribble amoung friends, I bet the kid is frothing @ the mouth to start driving his!
HVLP = High volumn low pressure
ok, so what does that accomplish, better flow of the paint?
I am not a painter, my dad is. he owned a body shop. Here is an interesting read on HVLP painting: http://www.toolsofthetrade.net/artic...ticle&partID=1
Finish is suppose to be great since paint is not bouncing of panels from higher air pressure. I think my faster movement technic will work with this type but there new to me too. They just started coming out when i quit working in the business. As with everything though there technology has advanced trifold im sure .
I have two HVLP guns, a touchup and a full size, both gravity fed. First thing I noticed was that I use lots less paint, and consequently overspray isn't all over everything in the surrounding areas.
Someone like HOTRODPAINT or some others would certainly have more knowledge on the finish they produce and all, but from a laymans standpoint, I like them a lot.
Don
Key points as to why i want to try them Don my attached garage.
I tried one of these guns when I painted junior's truck but I had a heck of a time with it. I had the pressues set where they said but it kept spitting. I don't know if it was the metallic paint or I was just doing something really wrong but I finally gave up and pulled my old gun out. It sprayed nice with the older gun. Is there something about metallic paint that won't work in these?
