I'm building a 34 Ford pickup for my son. We are calling it the FLAT4RD. It's been in the paintshop for 8 months now but it's just about ready to come home. They are going to srpay another coat of clear and color sand and buff hopfully next week. Then we can start to reassemble it.

The truck looks great!!! That's is a very fine flame job!!! Should be one fine looking Ford when it's complete!!! Oh yeah, congrats on taking the time to do it with your son...makes it a whole lot more fun and spending time together gives you both a lifetime of memories.
Flames! AND did it with your boy!!!!It just doesn't get any better! It's what makes our Hobby so great.

Well did some clamping and tieing today . Just checking fit of the 67 Mustang pedals in the A . I can see for sure the fuel tank has to go . Think i'll cut it and use the skin on upper cowl . I was wanting to pull body but i see at this point i need to set engine and trans to see about where trans tunnel will sorta end up . I may have to look for a different set of pedals maybe from a Focus or old Probe or newer Mustang for a narrower set. The 67's do set center of steering wheel on the Model A though. I havent come to a measurement on how much room i have for the fuel pedal. I know you cant have wide feet driving this car. Power brakes are coming in to play , seen some picks so i know engine can be lowered a bit and i seem to have room on fire wall. Planning on a cable clutch from a Mustang also.

I've been clampin', puullin', pushin', clippin', strappin', jackin' measurin', measurin' ,measurin' ,measurin' ,measurin' most of the afternoon. Get one thing right another... moooooves. Right now the rear pan is dead on. So, I think I'll make mounts to anchor it & the bumper in place. But maybe only tacked in place.... Ya' just never know with this thang'.
But hey, it's a G-R-E-A-T day to be spendin' time in the shop with the door open & the radio playin & the phone out of ear shot.
Can I breath now? Very nice pro70 and yes it was a great day for working on the ride. It's really starting to come together now heh?

I finally put a grille in my Plymouth....1" tubing with a fine mesh screen behind it. Not real original, but I needed to keep the critters out of my radiator. I may do something different later, but this'll work for now.:)
Hey Pro, it's dang near 9, can I breathe now???? looking good, keep it up!!! I've got to try and get over your way for a visit this summer. What's the race schedule for later towards fall?
Yup, critters in the radiator or not conducive to proper cooling!!! Keep working, going to be a real nostalgic unit when you get it finished!!!

I mighta' taken you up on the 50 ton press earlier yesterday. :LOL: :LOL: Rear window opening was out of square and one side was higher than the other. Seemed like anything I did would make no difference or made it worse. Then I tugged a couple times in the right direction and presto ... everything lined up. Jeff wants to use the jack to work on his car today. I told him, don't even think about takin' that jack 'til I have a couple mounts tacked in. :LOL: :LOL: :LOL:
Bluestang....here's something to consider on your "A"....
....Ths TCI unit made for the "A's". See it welds to the frame with a "U"
shaped bracket, then the framework for the brakes bolts to it. The top front
bolt is the pivot for the brake petal that comes up in perfect position inside
the car. Then you have a (small purposer made for TCI) power booster, into a small master cylinder, through a "T", then through the brake light switch,
through the porportioning valve to the rear brakes. The valve is for if you
have disc brakes on the front. This small system takes everything into account, and you have nothing under the hood, and no linkage on
the firewall. :D
The throttle mounts to the firewall via cable. They might have something small for the clutch linkage as well. ;)

This is how it ends up inside the car. There isn't much room in the A-bone.
I rest my foot on the tranny tunnel....perfect. Notice the small sports car style handbrake mounted between the seats ? Another space saver.

Pro tugs and pulls work alot . I had the wife tugging when i lined up back window to tack it . It was a video moment . Should have heard the scream when i pulled the trigger on the welder LOL.
Daver thanks for info . I do want swinging pedals in the A. Just came from a walk about in a u pull it . Wish i had my tools they had a 98 Mustang there and i think this complete set up will fit right in . Mustangs are designed with a tight toe board also.The assy. sets to the left of the column with the cable quadrant above column . Pedals are small as with master . Seen a ranger there also with a small system with a hydraulic clutch .
So you have your Brake light Switch before the proportioning valve? I have it after in the front line and the brakes work so well that half the time I brake it's not enough pressure to set off the brake lights, I may have to move it.
Car is looking good animalracer, I think its going to make a mean looking street rod.
....yes, there is full pressure before the prop/valve. ;)

Well, got the roof painted on my '71. The red and white really set each other off nicely. Almost getting excited about getting th whole truck painted now!!!!:LOL: :LOL:
Got the cab shimmed out and bolted on the '70 Chevy, painted the inside of the doors, and set the box back on to check alignment with the cab.
All in all a fairly good weekend on both pickups....
PS, the Chevy is on stands for leveling, not going to sit near that high when it's done.... Didn't want anyone to think I'd all of a sudden took and interest in trucks at nose bleed altitude!!!!!
Got the rear body mounts started today & a couple mounts near the firewall. It's a whole lot more solid now. Whittled away at the firewall some more today too.

Thanks Dave i think there was a mid 80s in the lot . Ill gander it over . Seen a 80's ranger that had a hydraulic on it with about a 7 inch booster . Looking like rain but i think ill strip some stuff before work today . Im going after the mustang setup . If i have to dump it will sell out on ebay . Looked in a Neon :rolleyes: very small pedal assy. gas pedal with cable looked like a great donor but i have to sleep at night . Im still reading manual may find the part where its says its ok . LOL
Nothing wrong with using parts from a Neon or other such econo-box.... Often times they are just the right size for a Hot Rod!!!! When I need seats or something to fit a tight car, first place I go looking is the imports. Once the upholstery shop is done, nobody knows anyway!!!!Quote:

I think as long as drive line is Ford then some of these little parts shouldn't really matter . When i wake in the morning thats the new therory . I want to get this car running and on some wheels by fall and i need to change.
Newbie Here! Wanted to introduce myself and the build I'm doing and this seemed like the most appropriate thread to start it in so here goes! I'm building a '66 Chevy II/Nova. I'd like it to make a road racer/autocross/canyon carver/street machine so I decided to chuck the whole suspension and replace it with a custom suspension with all Corvette ZO6 parts except for the Upper control arms which will be custom! It has an LS7 crate motor with a T-56 6 speed transaxle and torque tube. For those of you not familiar with the T-56 transaxle, it bolts to the diff rather than the engine so that the weight is evenly transfered throughout the car for better overall handling! I also had the entire trunk, floor pan and firewall removed so that we could put in a full tube chassis. Here are a couple pics! Hope you enjoy!
