CFF LOL yep best to leave somethings alone. My wife hates when i try and help clean the house. She says i dont know how to do it . Cmon whats to cleaning a house. LOL but i like her thinking aahh whats on tv right now.

I like wagons had a 65 falcon 2 dr wagon back in the 80's . Had factory air also . I installed the power rear window. Was a 6cyl with a mustang floor shift. Traded it for a conversion van, I wonder why i allways mess up.

Now if one of you guys would find me a really nice '57 Ford 2 door wagon to build.... Sedan delivery would do, too..... Charlies Ford is kewl, but IMO a '57 Ford 2 door would really be a blast to build!!!!!

PS---No big rush...If I had one today I think it would be about 9 projects down the list!!!!!:LOL: :LOL: :LOL: :LOL:

Alright Dave, never too many toys Huh Bud!!! I love the wagons, they are very cool and have always been good performers. There was an outragous 63 Pontiac Safari 4 dr wagon that went through Barrett/Jackson, very very sweet.
My baby was off to the paint shop yesterday and should be started on monday.

Too many toys would be like too much horsepower....Can't imagine it ever happening to me!!!! Remember, "He who dies with the most toys wins"!

Did you see the long roof concepts Thom Taylor did for the May issue of R&C? They used a 2 door body with a wagon rear clip. The lead drawing of the 1961 Bel Air/Biscayne 2 door sedan body would probably be the easiest to do since both the car and wagon bodies would be the easiest to find. The other examples used 2 door hardtop bodies. His sketches just show cutting the rear roof and window and moving them back but I'd rather use a real wagon rear clip to make the rear area useful as well.

Dave are you hiring i would like more toys.LOL So today the wife and i made a trip to HP . I wanted the new auto helmet. I think my old one from 81 had a 20 lens so hard to see. This new auto i tested is the OREO of all. May not be the name brand but wow did it help out. Seeing out of old one was rough. This even helped my welding quality by 100% .

Well this morning hope to raise the old body off frame. So far it looks like i have been the only one to pull this sweet thing apart.

With this helmut i may get it level.

I got a few hours to work on the "Z" yesterday afternoon.
The top and this panel are the only 2 body parts I couldn't find replacements for. So, I cut all the quarter panel, etc. remnants off it and did a rough test fit. The trunk hinges are history now too, so I guess it's Dzus hardware for the trunk lid..

Looking good, Pro. Looks like you might have to do a bit of sandblasting on the original pieces.....Too bad no one makes replacements for that, too. Oh well, at least you can say it's original!!!!!:LOL: :LOL: :LOL:


Got the door jams and insides of the doors painted on my '71 and the new door seals in. Still have some adjusting to do on the doors, should have the whole thing ready for paint soon.

On the Chevy C-10 we got the jams, inside of the cab, and inside of the fenders and fenderwells painted, then bolted the front end back on loose so we can start fitting and adjusting everything. Bill, the owner, is now all giggly and looks like he will become a Hot Rodder for life!!! Oh yeah, the color is tangerine over an orange base. Different combination, but the owner likes it so that's what counts. Should be unique on the paint, anyway....

Looking more and more like a camaro everytime I see it Pro70z, a little remnent of the ol' girl is good, gives her soul. I can see that car going down the road already!!

Very nice work Dave, I love that color, no wonder the kid is hooked!!

Thanks Brick... The color kind of grows on you, I guess. I didn't like it at first, but now I kinda like it. Having fun helping him, he's a very fast learner, too. Think he'll make an A-1 Hot Rodder!!!!!

Pro definitly taking shape. Dont worry though just as your finishing the panel up Goodmark will be stamping it. Suprised they havent since all the full bodied cams going on now.

Dave trucks are looking good not that i have any favortism or anything. Color on Chevy looks good in pics has to be hot up close. The 71 is looking good .

Chop & Hack!! The site of going through a pretty new body with a sawsall is like free steak and Lobster, I just can't say no or stop!!

Thought I would go down and see how the ol' 48 is doing and there she sat outside of the front door of the shop right where I left her thursday, with no one around. If I didn't have $600.00 of paint locked up in his shop, I may have taken her home. It always seems to be a fight for me to get anything done, I do so want to learn to paint.

It's kind of a body guys' thing.... Maybe from bad fumes????

Brickman....I went through hell trying to get my car painted. I ended up
hauling it home and painted it myself. Don't be afraid to do it yourself if it comes to that. ;)

For you Guys considering painting at home....wash the garage out real good,
seal up the garage doors with rags, wet down the floor, and if possible....put the compressor outside. The compressor stirs up the air too much. I used a box fan to suck the overspray out of the garage. I bought all the stuff, including two guns, all the paint and stuff for about a grand. :D

....then I had a Guy that was supposed to buff the car for me after I painted it....he flaked out too.....back down to Harbor Freight for a buffer and pads.
The thing is....don't be afraid. I painted everything on my car twice because I made every mistake possible. I even had the paint the hood over because I didn't know to wrap a rag around my head, to keep drops of sweat off the paint....no kidding. :eek:

Wait till the Guy at the cruise asks you who painted the car....and you say...."I did, in my garage". (mucho pride)

Years ago I painted my Sons Cal-look VW for him. Painted it in pieces. The one fender got screwed up with dirt, and as a last ditch effort I wet sanded it and buffed it. That fender ended up being the best, smoothest part of the whole car.

When I worked at the body shop, our detail girl saved almost every job by wet sanding and buffing the final job, and we had the best downdraft booth money could buy, but still got dirt and flaws.

True....sanding the finish off your best effort paint job, and then buffing it
back out will make your knees weak, to say the least. This paint is enamel, BTW....not clear over base-coat. This stuff has a clear resin that goes in the last coat, 50/50 with the piant, then thinned for the gun....hardener and fish eye stuff in there too.

I'll tell ya' what....when you finally get the shine back in the paint, and it's all nice and flat and pretty....it's time for a few cold ones. :D

Daver nice work . The paint scheme really stands the lines and form out.

The garage prep is a important as the car prep. I start by blowing it out daily a few weeks before painting . This helps get rid of all the loose stuff .

True, Bob....I did the same thing. There are rafters and a storage area above the car that had mucho dust up there. Another trick I learned purely by accident....put a bucket of water out in the garage near the car the night before the "Big Spray"....for some reason, every insect in the place decided to commit suicide and drown themselves in the bucket. Don't ask me why....:eek:

Never heard of that one with the water . I continually spray bug killer i hate the spiders . Keeps most insects down. I allways hang the trusty fly strip up also . There may be one that wants to be a hood ornament .

Neat trick on the water bucket, got to give that one a try. Daver, it sure does my heart good everytime I see the Ford engine in your Sedan!!!!

I have the fly strips hanging in the shop all summer long, really helps.

Another old trick in controlling the dust, I use floor sweeping compound once a week, usually on the Friday clean up. I blow the dust off all the lights, etc. and when I painted the walls I used a semi-gloss white paint. Really helps brighten the place up.

ol' german milkers trick is a pan with soap (dish soap) put it out at dusk and every fly in the building will be in there before morning.

Very nicely done Daver, I don't know if I am ready for that, I was thinking however that Dave does so many projects that I would trailer my car up there and put up to his shop door. He would just do it thinking it's one of his, he goes through them so fast he'll never notice!! What do ya think?

Oh yeah, working on a spoiler for Jackie's Maro, what do ya think?????

Dave, can you get a shot looking at the spoiler from the side?

It appears to be a little long (stuck out from the body). A side shot would show me how far it sticks out from the body.

So far the rear of Jackies Camaro is looking good. I just don't think that you would want a spoiler that detracts from that.

It hangs back over where the rear pan will be by about 2" is all. The quarter photo is a bit deceptive, I know. If you guys would all pitch in and build me my new shop I wouldn't be suffering threw such severe space limitations!!!! When I get this busy, I miss everything about my old shop except the payments and headaches!!!!!:LOL: :LOL: :LOL: :LOL:

I do have some vacation time coming! And its not really that far from Omaha.

I do think that the spoiler would turn out nice, just like all of your other work that I have seen on here. If you and Jackie like it and someone else doesn't, thats their problem.

The Maro is LQQKin' good Dave. I got mine square enough to drop the glass in. Close enough to start buildin' body mounts.

I wouldn't mind a ride in it either ProZ. But you would have to change the chassis setup so it would launch straight! I think that you would have WAY TOO MUCH rightside percentages with me in there!!! LOL
