Nope, at least I don't think so.... What's going on over in your neck of the woods? Still got a line on that Mustang Fastback you told me about when you were over here?
Dave,
The Ford SHO will have Yamaha right on it but I'm not exactly sure where. I was thinking about putting one in my coupe a couple of years back but couldn't find one.
When I got back from hunting last fall I traded the two 26 T coupes I got from out there, my other two coupes and all my stock parts for a Cherry never been restored 27 Tudor Sedan with matching numbers. Then I realized I didn't have a coupe to build a street rod with so I bought one back from him. Last weekend I drove up to St Cloud MN and got another really rough 26 Tudor with doors. I traded two carbs for it.
The Mustang I told you about is gone. My son still has his though but it ain't for sale.
I'm at the point of ordering a dropped axle assembly, tires, and radiator for the coupe. Been putting it off because of the expense AND I've doing a lot of riding around on my 88 Yamaha Venture motorcycle.

Congrats Falcon on the new member. Glad to hear all is well and healthy with you daughter and grandson . many years of some fun times and memories to have now.
Congratulations Falcon on the new little rodder. Beautiful baby. :) :) And also congratulations to you Pro on the upcoming arrival. (Must be something in the water, all these new babies showing up :D )
Don
Yup, them Grandkids are great. Get to spoil them rotten, then send them home to Mom!!! Kind of a long awaited way to get even with your kids!!!!!!
Actually, I don't think that's a Mark VIII motor with the throttle body in the back. That sounds more like a Lincoln Continental (96-03). I've owned two of them (cars) and the motor (4.6 DHOC) sets side ways and the throttle body is to the left which would be at the rear on a rear wheel drive car. But I do love that motor. My driver is currently a 99 Continental with the DOHC and is a riot to drive in city traffic when some ricer pulls up next to you at a stop light.  :LOL:Quote:

My folks have one of them too Duane.
And that thing is a terror on the streets. It really surprised me when I got the chance to drive it. I masehd the throttle like I was in my v-6 pickup and roasted a set of tires before I wanted to get out of the gas! LOL
It really throws you back on the seat. I also like the tunable suspension that the car has. I like the sport setting for rat-racing around town, but the cruise setting is great on the back! LOL
Congrats Falcon, I guess you'll be looking for a builder pretty soon huh? Love those grandkids, future rodders are needed to drive our rides when we are gone!
....yep, my Grandson will be driving this when I'm gone....;)
Daver.
Well, if he is not interested in the car I sure as heck am interested in it! LOL
There's not much that can pull me away from the garage when i get a chance but I did spend a lot of time with my daughter and her baby this weekend. I did get time to load my body on the trailer and take it to the sandblasters. Hopefully have it back in a few days. I'll try and get some new pics posted next week, I've been making a lot of progress. I'm getting ready to set up the rack and pinion, any advice is welcome. Also that 4.6 didn't make the $400.00 reserve on e-bay so it's still available at that price if anyone's interested. It's got all the accessories, plus the engine cradle with the rack and pinion still bolted on. I'll throw in a factory Lincoln Mark VIII wiring manual with it. The engine ran really good when it was pulled and is fairly low mileage. (82,000). Will also trade for a 99-up 4l60E in good shape. :)
Falconvan, just sent you a PM. I had a couple of qestions. Thanks in advance. By the way, Congratulations on the Granddaughter. I see our two were born on the same day. Kewl.
hmmm. Wish mine was newer! I do have a mid 80's 460 EFI short block and heads./.... Let me know if I can help you out. the 4.6 sure does interest me, where the heck is Festus at, anyhow?Quote:

Sorry for the misprint, guys, looking for a 4L60E transmission to trade, not a 460. Has to be for a Gen III small block, I think 98 or 99 and up. BTW, Festus is 30 minutes south of St Louis on I-55. Come on by, we'll fire up the grill!:)
Dang, long drive to St. Louis!
I was shopping for a new car today, think this will probably end up being it, only $15,500, some assembly required!!!!!
Dave nice car and no rust to replace . Pics show some alignment needed also . Tweek , bang aaahhhh there it is .
I want a fastback, everything I look at is nothing but a rust bucket, or spend $20k on a project to tear apart and redo... Thinking this just might be the way to go. The company is in Mesa, Az, sounds like an excuse to head south and catch some warm weather this winter!!! Maybe I'll find something else, but slim pickings for a decent fastback!!!!
Dave and Bobby, just on the serious side of thought, I bet the average rodder would probably spend the $15,000 trying to replace all the rust that he would find on a typical 67 or 68 fastback Stang here in the midwest. If (and that's a big if) I had the money I think that option would be the way I'd do it. JMHO
Fordman actually parts are fairly cheap for the 67-8 models , quarters being in the $200 range , trunk floors for $29 . My 67 i have replaced metal with a dime size rust out just because parts are so cheap to buy. FB quarters are just at $400 for a full panel .
The sheet metal is the cheap part, having to tie up all those dang hours to put the thing together would mean a bunch of time away from other projects that actually pay $$$$$. Even then, finding a decent '67 to start on would easily kill $5k!!! Lots of coupes around, but I gotta have a fastback!!!!
Actualy looks like a really decent body Dave, enough to make a Ford man shutter in his sleep! I am looking forward to watching her come together with one of those DOHC engines, very cool.
Gonna be awhile...Got to get some stuff sold and some money and time freed up first. Doesn't mean I can't start planning and doing some parts chasing. hmmmm. Now which of the T-Birds had the 8.8 IRS....
help,i have a 350 sb with a E750 double pumper gas lines and i cant get the mixture right any suggestions with this problem
Idle mixture, part throttle, or full throttle? If it's a Holley, adjust the idle mixturewith the screws in the side of the metering block. An Edelbrock has mixture adjustment screws in the base of the carb on the fron Other mixture changes must be done by jetting with a Holley, metering rods and jets with an Edelbrock. Main thing to consider, unless it's a radical cam and big heads running a bunch of RPM that's way too much carb. A 600 CFM would work a lot better. If it's an automatic, I'd suggest a vacuum secondary instead of mechanical....
Once I got my little holley 650 sf/vac sec dialed in it has worked really well and is getting around 19 mpg.
Waiting for parts on the Merc, so I took a day off and worked on the Maro. Got the new rear window opening and sail panels roughed in, the bottom of the window opening is the new size, the top still needs an 8" wide piece welded in and the sides will have another 1 1/2" added to them. The new back window will be some 3/8" dark tint Lexan. Wish I had more time to finish it up!!! Here's some pics for you;
Dave coupe look on that body looks good . See some thing here chevy missed. What you mean time its all we have left LOL .
Thanks Bobby, got a few hours of tin work left on the rear window opening, hoping to get back on it sometime this weekend....IF I can get Merc 2 ready to head to the upholstery shop.... Might even have some time next week to get my pickup done!!!!
Never enough weekends i know . I'm working this weekend myself but not for me its for the company . Good thing is i have some aluminum there that the welders are working on for me .
Weekends??? Heck, the Hot Rods is all I do!!! Around here can't even tell when it is the weekend. I always know when it's Wednesday, though....both the Snap-on and Matco dealers come by the garage!!!!!
PS---if you noticed in the background...that's my Ranchero that I haven't even touched in about a year.....So little time, so many projects!!!!!!!   Wouldn't have it any other way!!!!!!!!
Hey ya'll,
I haven't posted in a while because I haven't got much garage time in. So I took three days off and told everyone I'll be outside. It felt good to make a little progress. i got the body back from the sandblaster; cut out the bad spots and gave it a couple good coats of etching primer. I also got the pads welded on the rearend, front suspension together, dropped spindles on, shocks relocated, disc brakes installed, and started building a crossmember for the rack and pinion. Whew! Oh yeah, also sold the 4.6 to a mustang guy and picked up a 2001 5.3 Vortec and a 4l60e. Too much fun; I wish I had about a month off!:3dSMILE:
Looking good Falcon!!! Always good when one can spend some uninterrupted quality time with his favorite Hot Rod, isn't it!!!!!
Thanks Dave. I'm shooting for a goal of a rolling chassis with drivetrain mounted and body shell back on by April. That's 1 year from start. Hopefully I can stick to it, maybe even be a little further. You guys help keep me motivated! I can't wait to get some more done, snap a few new pics and get them posted!
My problem has never been the motivation to get projects done, usually it's the time, $$$$, or both!!!!!
Me either, I wonder what it would be like to be one of those TV guys that can just make a call and there is a crate LS1 on thier floor in 2 hours or a brand new chasis and the wife not giving "The Look!".! Wouldn't that be a wonderful world to live in.
My car goes in next weekend for it's final buff and shine. Finaly dang, I am glad to get that done.
