Great looking frame and drivetrain; I'd be temped to put it in one of the local shows like it sits at least once.

Looking good! Doug is good people. Looking forward to seeing how the car comes out. Need more pics!!

Hope to see you at the Mid America nats. Falconvan. Hope to take alot of pics at the nats.
Springflied Mo. May 29-30 at the fair grounds Hope to see you there**)
FWIW, MoDot is working on the bridge overpasses on I-44 through Springfield and the lanes are narrow across the bridges. Also coming into Springfield from the west and going to the fair grounds the exit is Hwy 13 or Kansas Expressway and you would turn left to get to the fair grounds. Hwy 13 across the Interstate is what they call a diverging diamond which means the traffic flows on the wrong side of the road as most people are used to. Be prepared for traffic jams.
ntfday what street is it that they cruise up and down in Springfield Saturday night.
It used to be Kearney, it runs parallel to to street the fairgrounds is located on just on the other side of the Interstate, but the city fathers got a little upset about all of the trash, etc so it's more or less Battlefield Road by the mall. The cops here get a little anal about cruising.
Got a little more done on the firewall this weekend between honey -do projects.
I made a hammer form out of a 2x4 on the band saw to match the contour of the firewall and beat some metal into submission. Still needs a little hammering but it's close enough for a test fit.

I decided to do recessed panels on the sides & I think I'll do raised panels on the front, but I've changed my mind so many times already, who knows.

This part of the firewall will get welded to the body. The rest will get welded to the chassis and the 2 will be bolted or riveted together (blind seam) from the inside
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...fit5-31-10.jpg
I think I spent more time in the lawn chair thinkin' about this than actually working on it. I kept changing the plans until I had a headache & finally decided to just do something. If it doesn't work I'll start over. I want to be able to take the body off, so that's why it's going to be a 2 pc. deal. Sort of the same reason I spent all that time on the billet aluminum hinges rather than just welding them to the chassis. Keeping the "A" pillars I'll still be able to use stock door weatherstripping and boxing in the firewall under the windshield I'll be able to keep the stock windshield wipers, got to keep it street legal right?
That is going to be one cool car... Is it for the street and strip or just straight out race car... I have just noticed the awesome quick release hinges for the doors also... Alot more panel fabrication than I would of thought two but you are building to a weight limit I believe....
Thanks Whiplash. I'm watching the weight somewhat, but I do plan to drive it on the street a little (cruise nights & stuff) so I am building it a little heavier than an all out race car. When I race, it will probably just be a bracket car, so weight isn't critical. I just like fabricating, so that's the main reason for all the extra stuff. I'm just looking to build something that hopefully will be at least a little different an every other gen II camaro out there.
Well Pro with the knowledge I have It all looks different to me . But I still see some think pad working getting it where it is today . Soon I will have to shoot down 55 and knock on the garage door .
Come on down bluestang. Got a little more done on the firewall this weekend, Welded a few of the small pieces to some of the medium sized pieces.:LOL:

Latest pics. of the new toy. Back from Show Me Rod And Custom And really pleased with the work he preformed. Also mounted headlights with the help of Dons Hot Rods Great help and unparalleled workmanship. THANKS DOUG AND DON (Da34Guy)
Pro, awesome fabrication work as always, way to go man!!!! Gonna be a killer car--for a chebbie!!!:LOL:
4356, the roadster is really looking nice even though it's a dang shame to have to cover up that gorgeous frame and suspension with a body!!! Going to be a really first rate ride, really like the wheel and tire combination.
Doing some body work and finishing up the fab work on the '36 Plymouth, should have it all in primer and start blocking this week! As usual, a lot of little issues have popped up that consumed way too much time to resolve!!! Also had to take a few days to update my rotissierie, it was way overdue a bit of rebuild!
Next fabrication opportunity coming down the pike will be stuffing a 5.7 Hemi and OD automatic into a '28 roadster on Deuce rails! Looking forward to that one!!!!
Did a bit of test and tune and the dragstrip, went 9.90 with a 4 on the second pass....Put the car back in the trailer and came home--we're ready!:D:D:D
The roadster looks great! I like the suicide doors. Doug is a good guy to work with. I know he makes it to the Good guys show in Ft Worth in October...I will be there with mone, you should try and make it.
Dennie, Ya hit the nail on the head with the headlight location.
Right where I woulda put 'em.
After procrastinating all winter, I finally went ahead and built my own car rotisserie. Everything should be much easier now!
It took me about 3 hours to get the body on the rotisserie (working by myself)

Hope the link works!
That a pretty slick set-up clover47.Looks like it ought to work great.
Made another piece for the inlet side of the intercooler tonight.

Great job Clover47!! Looks like it will be a really useful tool. Did you keep track of how much you have invested?
Great stuff Clover and a good looking car.
Bobby I try to not plan too far in advance with the "Z". About the time I think I can get some real work done on it, something else comes up and it's back to collecting dust. So, I just do what I can. Tomorrow is lookin' good so far though. (maybe I shouldn't have said that). :LOL:
Yeah you will jinx yourself quick . I was sitting around waiting on parts , then it hit me why wasn't I working on the Stang body . :HMMM:
Nice rotissierie Clover, they sure do spoil you!!!!
Very neat parts as always, Z!!!
Nice set up clover, I recognise that body! That is the exact same body my 48 has, looking good man, looking good.
Got the inlet side roughed in today.

And got a panel installed.

I roughed up the back of the panel & the chassis tubes with 80 grit on the angle grinder, then glued it in with fusion body panel adhesive.

Added a couple more pieces to the puzzle this afternoon.

Yes, that is my hand waving up in the air Pro.:) I would like to ask some dumb blonde questions please, ( yes I'm a blonde). Can you explain to me how that air inlet works please. I think the car must be turbocharged and that the air travells from the intercooler through the firewall into an air filter box then back through the centre outlet to the intake. Anyway that is what I think but please correct me if I am on the wrong track.. It is looking good and I admire your panel fabrication and one more question, do you bond those panels to the tubular frame??
Yea, that's an intercooler under the dash that took some "stuffing to get to fit". It will look a little like this pic. Although this is an EFI set-up and mine will be a dominator. The intercooler is kept cool with an icebox in the trunk and a gi-huge-ic pump to circulate the ice water to the front.

When I built the chassis I made the frame work & cross bracing for the firewall out of square & rectangular tubing so I'd have a flat surface to work with. The adhesive is the stuff they use to glue body panels on new cars. It's a little spendy but you can't beat the install time, not to mention no warping from welding HAZ.
Here's the "stuff it" job I did to get the intercooler in there. I spent hours setting it up in about every conceivable position trying to get it as hidden as possible. Is is the best I could come up with.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...28/flange9.jpg
Thanks for that and I was 1/2 way there as I had the intercooler in front of the radiator. Is your turbo crank driven too as in the photo or as more commonly done by exhuast ?? Oh one other little think....you may have to replace your windscreen too....
It's a Pro Charger (centrifugal blower) which is basically a belt driven turbo charger. It takes a 3" wide belt similar to a roots blower & drives off the crank. They have a gear drive set up also, but it's a little pricey.
They make intercoolers that go in front of the radiator also. Those are air to air intercoolers, Mine is water to air.
That poor windshield has been through a lot. it's been in and out a dozen times and was used to hold the shape of the "A" pillars at one time when I had it "really'' tore apart. Poor windshield
Thanks Pro, this is the first time I have seen that set up and as I have said before, the day one dies,is the day one stops learning. Is there a link I could look up to study more about your set up please?? Yes the windscreen has certainly paid for itself if it has survived that sort of treatment.
This is where I've been buying my parts.
