Well, I "googled" him. I'll be dipped if there isn't a guy in Seattle named Greg Bowne, and danged if he isn't ......... TWENTY NINE!
I guess I should apologize to him, but I think I'll just let things be.
Jim
No posting here, I sort of screwed up.

Where the heck did you get that???
Don
Denny, you are one funny dude. I picked up on the top button too.
I think this is our guy. Same area, age, etc.
You are a riot.

Once again, sorry.
Don
no need to be sorry. its not like i never hijacked a thread. anyhow i am just going to remove the wood and get the body stright, and look for a couple parts.i think i might do the full body and build it pro street style. havent really decided yet.
The body looks really pretty straight. I had to look twice to tell it wasn't a Ford, but I reread you posts and saw it was a Chevy. One thing is that it is nice to have something a little different than everybody else, and you don't see as many Chevys of this era as Fords. That in itself makes it worth doing.
I think you did well. If I can offer a suggestion on the leftover parts you are trying to get rid of, put them on ebay. Some restorer will be looking for them and you will get more for it than you would ever do locally. I sold a boat engine that I couldn't have gotten $ 200 for locally for $ 450 on ebay, and he paid another few hundred to get it to Minnesota. You get a huge audience and it is very targeted. People who see it are people seeking parts with the description you use.
Good luck, and if any questions arise, just let us know. We promise not to start talking about space ships or the 1936 World Series and hijack you again.:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Don
PS: Post some more pix of the different angles of the car, I for one would love to see more of it.
i will post up some more pics as soon as i take some.
i am a regular ebay seller (cal*coyote). i am watching another guy selling the same drivetrain parts i have now. the shipping is an isue on the heavy stuff. i will list the stuff soon. thanks for the advice. i will no dought need alot more.
My fuel line is 1/2" so I do need 3/8 NPT fittings.....
On another note I solved a problem that had been looming overhead..getting plates...
You see in its current form it would never pass a State Inspection
nor would it qualify for antique plates based on appearance;
nothing safety related ,mainly cosmetic ie: snorkel scoop, guages on hood,
lots of Emmissions,no defroster or heater ,weld draglites ,etc,
Well, I found a car just like mine (same color) that is bone stock. The State will get pics of it & I'll get antique plates !!
Carefull :HMMM: If you get caught the Sec. of State's office won't take kindly to that.
I just wish we could Legalize Freedom!
Right on,
Nice coupe sicboy, that is "Give the left one" good! I would like to see more pics also.
Resized the rear window opening on the Merc. IMO the window was disproportionately large, it had not been modified from the stock Merc size when the top was chopped on the original steel car. The big window also detracted from the lines coming down off the roof to the trunk. I'll get some pictures of it when I have the rear part of the roof back in primer.....Should be working on it tonight, but we race on Thursday night, so it's race car maintenance tonight...
it's race car maintenance tonight.
check the pinion yoke, those nuts will back off. :3dSMILE:
It was tight, Mike. Any good idea for adding a bit of down angle on the pinion when some tech officials like to look under the car (weekly) and make sure the car still has the stock arms in the stock location? I know those poor old stock Malibu arms are twisting and flexxing all the time.... I would like a couple more degrees down on the pinion angle and I sure do wish the rule would allow a bit of change on the control arms. Car was good, just a few small dings to knock out and the usual checks and adjustments.. We'll be loaded and gone about 4:20 today.
sorry dave, never run a stock set up, every car i raced i had short trailing arms and coil overs. even back in the 70's, never drove a stock car, all mods. pull the arm down add 1 " to it, grind it down so you cant see it and go for it. what are you running now 0 angle? can you change the bushings? **) good luck tonite.:3dSMILE:
Might just redrill some holes in the brackets. Greg won his heat last night, fifth in the feature. Took tonight off, just to dang hot, over 100 again today and the humidity almost matched it..... We'll go at it again at home tomorrow night. Thanks for the well wishes.
Have you checked around on different years to see if you can find different lengths? We're getting far too urban around here, and I just don't have junk yards to wander through any more. Hank
China is buying up our scrap steel as fast as they can get it so Junkyards are starting to disapear in exchange for high prices.
More racing stuff from last night, Greg had a lousy heat race, got stuck behind a couple guys racing very "wide" cars. Made a fantastic comeback in the feature, started last row inside, drove his way to second place and was at the winners' door when the checkers fell. This kid is good, think I picked me a winner this time.... Soon as the season is over going sponsor hunting for some $$$$ to start the kids move up the racing ladder.....
All the rest of my projects are on hold for the summer, just working on the Merc's too get them (hopefully) ready to go into production and getting Greg as much seat time as possible before we jump into IMCA racing next year. I don't mind putting my stuff on the back burner at all to help a kid along with his potential.....

Probably will put up some Condos when all the stuff is gone.:( :( :( :(

That is absolutely heart breaking for me, a guy needs to be saving every car that can be saved. I have a couple I am working on but haven't been able to connect with the owners.
Well, our ongoing "project" of building a new race team is starting to work... Greg won his heat and scored his first ever Main Event win last night!!! Sure was a fun ride home!!!!!
As far as the crushers, remember that Hot Rodders are America's First Recycler's... Keep saving em, guys!!!
You know I can't even remember all the cars I've had. My kids were talking about a Buick I had and I had forgotten all about it. I guess thats what happens when you buy , fix, drive and sell. I keep them if I realy like them but nothing is forever and every thing is forsale.
Dave, what kind of cars are you running? Super stock/stret stock dirt/assphalt cars? Growing up my dad was on a team running two UMP Modified cars *one dirt one assphalt*. Went to about 3 tracks a weekend for probably 7 years... and was waiting for the day i turned 16 so i could give driving a shot, it was always my dream. One year, when i was 14 i think, they swept both the dirt and the assphalt championships and the owner sold both cars... b/c well, he felt he had accomplished what he wanted, and possibly old age, and had no reason to keep going. He had a 16 y/o driver during those last 2 years, i think its the fearlessness that makes them good.
Good luck with everything,
This year we're just running a pure stock, building a new driver and a new two car team for next year. Next year will be an IMCA stock car and an IMCA mod, all on dirt. If things go right, we want to move both drivers up in ablity and cars with a final goal of ASA... Short term (5 years) goals would be a pair of competitive IMCA Late Models...... Long way to go from where we are now!!! Anyhow, thanks for the good wishes...
Wow, that sounds very agressive Dave, best of luck and I hope that you stomp every booty that gets in front of you guys!
I have hit the big time, I am now running with the pro dogs and super kittys! My car has been in a rag!! My fellow club members will now have to pay a toll to park next to my car just for the Papperottzee exposure they will be Getting! Page 86 of the NSRA monthly rag has a pic of a Blue 40 ford in Springfield Mo, you can see the ass end of my car in the back of the shot. They say for fame that first you give up the booty to get the centerfold!!
There ya go, Brick!!!! Charge them commoners plenty when they get close to your ride now!! Oh yeah, next road trip make sure you lead!!!
You bet Dave, the exposure alone is worth alot! Got some more speakers in and a power amp. I also installed a ground blk under the dash, curing some minor troubles I was having. New horns installed and working, last to get working is the wipers, they're next. Looking like I will be able to get her in for glass with in a week or so. Looking forward to new glass especially the windshield.
New windshield in and it's pretty scary! I can see everything!! HeHe! It's pretty cool to be able to see, I can't wait to get the rest of them in but I had to stop to go to a big show in Branson.
Great improvement, Always nice to be able to see!! On old cars sometimes you think the old glass is ok until youget the new stuff in....
Update on circle burning.... Greg won a feature and bagged a third and two second place finishes..... Great start for a first year racer and we've still been able to drive the car on the trailer every night!!! Last night he took a big hit on the first lap and bent the upper A-Arm on the inside in a first lap melee. So, coming from 2nd row inside with a bent A-Arm managed to get a second place finish!!! Not bad for running with about 3" tow out and probably about 15 degrees of camber on the LEFT front!!!! Last week we bought a Shaw late model that has been converted too a Wissota Super Stock that was just off the frame table with all the '06 updates and brand new aluminum inside and out!!! Next year we'll have the kid going a bunch faster then the present pure stock will go!!!!! (Checkbook severly wounded, contributions accepted!!!)
Great job by the kid Dave, you got ya one there I believe. I hear you on the hurt checkbook man, better be looking for some serious sponserships so he can have the best without hocking your house!
Maybe I'll just sell the house, get a bigger toter, live there!!!!   My kid is starting his last year of college, after that not a whole heck of a lot keeping me here in the "poverty belt"....
