Firechicken - We found ours on Ebay, believe it or not. Sometimes these things go for an outrageous price, but I guess these were just meant to be...we bid several times, and stopped at our limit that we were willing to pay. As luck would have it, we won them, and there was only $50.00 in shipping!Quote:

By the way, are they the 60/40 6 way adjustable power seats with the lumbar support? I'd definitely give $200 for a set, I have a '99 Chevy pickup with 'em and I love those seats. In fact, I have even thought about robbing them out my '99 and sticking them in my Cameo.
Cheers,
Firechicken
They aren't power, but they do have the manual lumbar support. The seats we have in our 99 GMC are the same thing as these, and we really like them. These are bucket seats w/ a console.
We decided to not look for power seats, since they are more expensive...my husband & I are about the same height, so we don't do much seat adjusting anyway!
Hope that helps. You might even be able to track some down at the junk yard, too...who knows? :3dSMILE:
Well.....let's see where to start, ok- painted the dash in the 67 Cuda convertiable, so it's ready to go back in, and I need to put the new top on it next to complete it.
Pulled the nailhead & tranny out of the 67 Rivera and traded it for some stuff to go in the Delivery- still need to get a 42" rear made up for it, I won't get to that this month.
Got the Silverado stripped down & the bed off for her paint, need to get it in sealer today.
The 70 Firechicken is mocked up & I need to re-drill the fenders for the flairs where I replaced the metal damage, then I can shoot the jambs & firewall & window tracks, I might get it down off the dollie's by July 4th
The 64 ChevyII still needs a lot of metal work- but I did get it up on the K-5 frame & hook-ed up.
I still have a waiting list of 7 to build for customers, and I 'm thinking of breaking ground on the lower end of the property to build a shop for my wife- she wants me to teach her how to do interior work.
I still work a full time job so I can only work on my rods in the evenings, and week-ends.

I Started my re-wiring project last week-end. The wiring in the car worked, but it did not work well. Usually dropped down to 10 volts at stoplights and barely held 12 going down the highway with A/C and lights on. I am using a lot of the kits and designs at Madelectrical.com. So far I have put a remote starting solenoid back in the trunk near the battery, this removes power from the heavy 1/0 wire to the starter except during starting. I have run a dedicated 8 gauge wire back there to the battery for charging and power to the rest of the circuits. I have set up two power distribution stations, one near the firewall and one on the radiator core support. I rewired the Alternator to send power to the firewall distribution point and also have the sensing wire going there so it measures the load where power is being used. My fuse panel was out on the firewall and I am moving it inside under the dash where I am fabricating a hinged panel to hold it that will drop down for access and fold up out of site the rest of the time. I found a really slick fuse panel at www.centech.com. Very compact and it uses lugs like a house panel insted of crimped on terminals. Still to do is set up a panel inside my left front fenderwell to hold the front power distribution point and a number of relays to power my electric fans and headlights. I plan to use a metal first aid kit box to house these and keep them out of the elements. This will take a lot of load off the fuse box and ignition switch. The added benefit of all this is I have found a number of dead wires that I have removed and it is really cleaning up the wiring in my engine compartment.
Right now I am just praying that everything will work when I flip my battery master switch!  Speaking of which I also changed the master battery switch from the positive cable to the negative. I hope to have this all done by Friday the 11th so I can make it to our local Hot Rod Jamboree. Been working on it every hour when I am not working, eating or sleeping. Neat thing about this project is I will have have less than $300 in it when I am done. :toocool:

Nice picture TL. That's how I plan to drive mine. Should I paint the front doors and roof white? It cost me $200 without the engine and trans. There's a Mustang 5 speed in the trunk along with a bunch of heavy spare parts that I have to take out and it's still level. Nice heavy duty cop suspension. It's almost ready to go. I got a problem though so I'm going to post a thread on it and see if someone can help me out.
I was just looking at the title that came with the car. It was titled to the Dept of Treasury, Fleet Mgmt. Trenton N.J. So it's not an IRS car like I thought.
Body work on the '50 is nearly compleate, going to clean the gas tank out, flush all of the fluid systems and put a new exzaust on and then, some glass for the wing windows and, it's going on the road. I want to drive it and restore it/ rod it at the same time.
Too bad you don't have anything going on Hambisket! Man! You have to be a hard worker.
Thats a nice ride for $200.00 Al Show, what a clean cruiser, don't need the pony tranny in the trunk though!:D
Wiring is what I have to look forward to yet Stu, but there are some really cool stuff out there now. I love that fussblock you found, very cool.
I am still working on chasis, I got my new steering column in and tomorrow the seats will be mounted permenantly since I can set them now. I have figured out a way to use my stock pedals for a power brake set-up. It will work and save me $150.00 for something else.
Jim..Envy your ambition.Quote:

Question.. Having a '67 Riv. myself, curious what the intent was for the fellow that traded you?
'67 Cuda Ragtop--Sweet ride! :toocool:
Well as it turned out the swap didn't go thru as I misunderstood what he wanted. I thought that he needed the tranny for his '72 Chevy pu to pull his trailer- but he wants a 4 wheel drive transfer case hooked up to it ( different tranny) which I have but that's going to have to be a better deal than just the 700 R 4 we were going to do.
So I still have the nailhead & tranny only now I have it on the shelf in the hut.
Yes the 67 Cuda's a sweet ride & I wish it was mine, but alas it belongs to a customer that won't sell it. But the Riv.'s mine and I have PLANS for her. I'll post some pic.'s as soon as I figger out how to do it.
Ok lets see here, I've been purchasing quite a few parts for the Firebird lately and I'm getting pretty close to having everything I need. Here the last 3-4 months, I've gotten a new wiring harness, disk brake conversion kit, B&M Ratchet shifter, a flowmaster exhaust (sounds awesome too! :D), front turn signal housings, head liner, dash (used, and need it to repair the butcher job somebody did for a stereo install  ) and now I am in the process of ordering the front end rebuild kit and front turn signal lenses. Once I've go those, the car should be ready for the rest of the interior, body work and paint. Then.....SHAZAM!! she'll be done, and I'll be broke. I can't wait!! :toocool:
As for the Cameo, I installed the new front bumper here a couple weeks ago and also installed the electric fuel pump and new carb within the last couple months. I also replaced the plugs and wires and replaced the header gaskets as well. I've gotta put the tach in here in the next week or two. After that, I've gotta put the rear bumper pieces back on (had 'em re-chromed a while back and been too lazy to get 'em on :o). Then, the all I should need to do is give her a tune up, change the oil, put some fresh gas in it and drive. :toocool:

Need I point out that IRS is a Bureau of the Treasury Dept?
Have'nt really done anything to my new project lately.
Which is a 1965 ford ranchero, I'm having troble locating full bed fenders. I don't want to just install skins on it. then I also need to find a set of wheel tubs factory looking and a plate or panel for the inside of the tail gate. I did just find a small block C6 trany for it though, It deffinately needs, darn thing [ C4 ] slips like crazy and jumps in to gear on it's own,Which the old fords were known to do. Then I want disc brakes all around. Body first, body first, body first. Gotta stay on track, get excited about all the things I want to do to it. I've been building forms for cement behind the house, so I'll have plenty of room to work on that baby with a bay pit and all.

The goat is coming along nicely just waiting on $$$ to finish the short block up. All block work is done the crank/rods/pistons are in it the jesel is on the front and i am broke:LOL:
I'll be working on the body again tommorow fishing up the alinment of all the fiberglass parts(seems like i have been alining for 2 years now:rolleyes: )
but its really starting to look like something now!
BG
Alot of us have a common theme, being broke! Will not broke but not able to part with money for the rod though. It is as vara4 said that it is hard to not get ahead of your self. I am very impatient myself, it is hard to just sit by and watch the car collect dust which I have only done for a week or two during the winter. I am coming to the time where I'm getting into the large ticket items and thats where its going to get hard.
I want to thank everybody that has posted here at this thread, it is a ball to know how everybody is doing. I hope that you all are enjoying it too.:D
Still Monkeying around on the 37 , just doing some
body mods on it and fitting and adjusting everything before I get to doing the body work.
I extended the front fenders to give it more eye apeal because I'm not running bumpers.
I'm just glad we have a great site like this to come to and ask for help if we need it or help others if we can. I've always liked tinkering around with cars, and am glad to find others that like the same thing. And most of the people here have more experince then I do. and god knows I need all the help I can get. Right now I've got 20 things going at any givin time, plus I work 12 to 15 hours 6 days a week. So I have'nt been able to talk with all my buddys on here like I would like too. Got off work yester day and thought I would get on here for a while and see how every thing was going. got the old dreded phone call the new Suburban I just bought two mounths back blew the trany last night . So I had to go get the family last night. When I got to them I stated up the suburban to hear a load grinding inthe trany. Seems my Denise was trying to show this guy in another car how well that Vor-teck moter would run [HE! HE!] God love her I would have done the same thing. Just glad see did it instead of me, I can use this to my advantage later when I break some thing. You know what I mean [ honey I know I broke it, but remeber when ] HE! HE!HE! Just throwing some tips out for the yonger guys.

I am too Vara4 and I like the "One Up" you just got! Those are nice to have. HeHeHe!
Has anybody done repairs on old fuel tanks? I am just wondering what the best way to fix one would be? It's long dried out so welding it wouldn't be a problem, I was just wondering if I could fiberglass over it without it leaking. Any comments Guys?
If your really sure there are no fumes or gas in it, grind it around the hole then take some toluene and wipe it down real good to get any oil or debris/rust /junk off of it. Then weld a new plate of metal over the hole/ weld in the crack. Now If your not able to do this, there is another way. Don't laugh ok. Some one on the highway lost a crow bar, Guess who found it. Well I did'nt have a lot of time because I use the car for work every day. So I did'nt want to pull the gas tank. I drilled a hole where the crow bar cut it so vibration would'nt crake it any further. Then I cleaned the metal real good around the hole . I then scewed a short bolt in to the hole [ just snug ] . Then I put JB weld around the bolt and let it dry. The next morning went to the gas station and filled it up. No leaks and thats been almost 5 years now. Hope this helps you.

I welded a saddle tank on a truck once. It had cracked around the step. I filled the tank with water just short of covering the area I was welding. (To reduce the volume of fumes in the tank. Then I hooked a flexible hose from the tank to the exhaust on my truck and let it run until I was sure the oxygen in the tank had been displaced. Then welded it with no problems.Quote:

I was told if I filled the tank with water or with exhuast fumes it would be o.k. So I figured doing both would be even better. I admit I was a little nervous as I started welding, but I'm still here.
Thanks guys, I think I will be able to weld it, it was the original tank that came with the car and it hasn't had fuel in it for decades so I would think the fumes are none existent. I will weld the splits and then cover them with a patch, that should hold it.
Once again, thanks gusy, another $200.00 saved, I keep this up and I may get this thing done yet!:D :D
Well the rebuilt engine I put in the bluesmobile has to come back out to replace the oil seal. The last engine I rebuilt only went seven miles. This one never left the yard. I parked it out back for now.
I decided to put some time into the roadster instead. I cut down a 39 Ford dashboard to fit. I disassembled it and sandblasted it. Then I painted it jade green metallic and white. I put it back together and stuffed it into the roadster. It's the ideal hot rod dash. It's got a nice row of louvers down the center where the speaker goes. The radio delete plate was rusty so I sprayed it silver for now but It's coming out later when I put in a radio/cd.
I also restored the banjo style steering wheel and painted it the same green color. I'm using the 39 column too. Now that the dash is in I can cut the column to length and paint it. The original ignition switch/steering lock is still good and I have the key so I'm using it with the remote starter button.
I like the green and I'm going to paint the car this color. I'm just wondering if the red wire wheels will be okay on a green car or will they clash. The engine is red too. Do red and green go together? Other than on a christmas tree stand? Any suggestions on what color I should paint the wheels and engine and maybe repaint the white part of the dashboard?
Red and green, HMM... christmasy but they go togther.
Red & Green:HMMM: dunno sounds a bit yuk but hard to say without really seeing something like that ya know.
Maybe do the motor in a cast color (grayish) and the dash stripe and wheels something silverish/grayish???
My vote would be for a darker accent green. Dark green fenders, dark green engine and matching dark green wheels. (Same jade color just 2 or 3 shades darker). w/jade green everything else. Maybe dark green double pinstripe on the body line front to back. Interior upholstery in the darker green.
I'l wait till it's painted before I decide on the wheels. I might not go with the wire wheels. They looked good when it was going to be a rat rod. I'm useing 56 Ford truck brakes on the front and the 16" wires dont seat right without a spacer.
I belive that I'd gone Earl Pitts on that one jinx....
Red $ Green??? Aint that a TV show???
Finally my Monte' is painted and I have it back, I have posted one pic in my gallery. I'll post more after this weekend, while me and brickman are ding that car show thing here in west plains, I'll get pics and post'em here later.....see ya brickman!!!
Naw man, the Red Green show just aint a t.v show, its a way of life.Quote:

Looking forward to it Monteman, it's going to be a grea show!
Red & Green is great if that is what You like Al show, I love that dash, that works good.
All I can say Jinx is that really sucks, how can a guy parking at a show be so careless!!?? Can't figure that one except for really bad luck! I hope that you can get it going without too much agony.
I think Red Green must be my ex-wife's brother who was kidnapped or wandered off and nobody missed him. She has four brothers that I know of who think and dress just like Red.
I don't want the Red Green Show to be confused with The Al Show. But I have made rocker panels from duct tape.
Jinx, maybe you should change your name to lucky and these things will happen to someone else.
The Monte's lookin good Chuck. My next door neighbor has a cherry 70 Monte that he towed in and the owner didn't think it was worth paying the towing so he let him keep it. He had the tranny rebuilt and has been driving it for more than ten years. I put a fresh paint job on it when he first got it. He only drives it in good weather and it still looks great.
Thanks Al, I really enjoy the car, but I got stupid and priced it to a fellow this week and I thought I priced it high but he didn't think so,.....so I may have sold it, cause $15,000 dollars is to much money to turn down...
Well just finished taking everything off the GTO's chassis because i changed my mind about the paint job i had origanaly intended to do so i had to repaint the chassis and cage:(
Got all the steering/susp/rear end/brakes and everything else off the chassis last weekend and sanded and re sprayed the cage&chassis today. Anyone have any idea how much fun it is for a 6'6" 280lb man to craw around inside a full cage and paint every freakin inch of it while holding a spray gun and air line:mad:  needless to say i'm a bit sore right now:LOL:
Gonna spray the clear over it in the morn and hope to have some updated pics to post tommorow night:3dSMILE:

BlownGoat, I know how you feel being of similar stature! Sometimes it's a curse. Sounds like you have eveything looking good.

I'd suggest Seafoam green, or a pale yellow for the wheels and engine.
For the dash, a couple strips of engine turned aluminum or stainless as an overlay.
Yeah....................right!:p :p  :LOL:Quote:
