Time to work on the "Z" for a change. I cut the flanges out for the intercooler tubes to pass through the firewall. Ready to turn to size on the lathe.

Nice. that s a cnc router how many HP is it to cut that alum? is it a thermwood router
It's 3-4 hp. something like that. It's a Perske.

I put a groove around the edge of the flange for the firewall sheet metal. Once I install the o-ring and get in place I'll check the new gap with a feeler gauge and make a soft gasket to seal the flange to the firewall

Got everything mocked up. The flanges on the windshield will be added to the inlet side. I'll turn those once I get the V-band clamp. Should be here any day. The outlet side attaches to the carb bonnet with hose & clamp.

Cool; Pro, I think you're like me. The building part is the most fun for me. Wish I had your skills and tools; you build some unbelieveable parts.
Yup, the fun is building. Speaking of which, I made a little more progress. I put the ol' foam mock up engine in it to make sure I get the angles right before going too much further.

Some good looking duct work!!! but It's good you have that intercooler cuz I don't think that block is gonna take the heat real well!!!!!
I love the windshield wipers---but it has been raining a lot in Coal City lately

Piece of cake; I had a right hand drive mail jeep years ago. Always wanted to put a big block in that thing but a leaky fuel line caused it to burn to the ground in my driveway.
One of the guys who hunts with us has an old army Jeep. Man you can hear the engine and gears whine from a mile off at 4:30 in the morning, and say, yep Rich is coming! Those old 4 cyl engines and low gears really whine!:D Great 4x4 though!Quote:

Hey guys first hope all is well been working and tinkering some . Put the A on ebay and way low bids figure I wll get it going and then put it back on .
Well changed out the engine mount to the bar mount from Speedway . There mount holes where a inch shy at 16 and my SBF being 17 . 3 engines here and all measure out at 17 so its the bar that is off .
Set it deep and still have 8 inches to the oil pan and about 7 3/4 to the trans pan .

Dave definitely a buyers market but I still have it and the Title so it will sit . Maybe tax time will be a little better some might have some stimulus money .
I've got my pickup listed on Racing Junk, as of about an hour ago it had 294 looks and absolutely no offers for trades or anything else!!!!! Doesn't sound like eBay is doing much better.Quote:

It looks great, Bobby! You're right, Ebay does suck right now. I thought there'd be some interest in the roadster body I was building but I've run it twice with no luck. Wait until those tax checks come; it'll be burning a hole in their pocket and things will get better.

Dave W thanks I pm'd you with what I have we are close cept I sit a little higher and this bar is already coming out the bottom . I am 16 from front of crank to first fender bolt hole on end of frame . I will be able to use a 4 inch recess with the rough figuring I did . Course I have one here already so I will make it work :D .

This thing had been sitting in a field since 93, so the guy had no idea if it would run or not. It turned by hand and the oil looked clean, though. I replaced a starter and fuel pump that were both full of mud doubers nests, regapped the points, put on some new plug wires, and ran the fuel line into a can and she started and ran like a top! Spent the rest of the day power washing it from front to back, inside and out. Looks better just getting all the crud off of it. Here's some before and after shots.

one more check to make sure everything fits like it should.
Looks great so far Matt! Just a suggestion...Before you start doing a lot of bracing and crossmember buildin, might want to make sure the frame is all squared up by measuring in an X fashion from corner to corner...easier to tweak it around a bit now then when more pieces are welded in... Once you get everything square, use some small pieces to make a brace for each corner and attach them with some good, solid tacks...leave them on till you have at least a couple of the crossmembers put in....
The flanges really look good Pro, should hold the pressure just fine!!!! Sure beats the heck out of rubber hoses and cheap clamps!!!!!
