I too,have been watching this with a lot of interest..along with the other build threads on here..I dont say much,but boy,am I taking it all in..
This is all too kool..Pro,your workmanship is amazing..would love to see this car in the flesh[so to speak]one day..
That looks great, Pro! I've heard of body panel adhesive but not much about it. Is it pretty stout?

They say it is stronger than spot welding. Most likely due to the fact that spot welds are just spots & glue covers more area of the joint. All the edges of these firewall panels are folder over the firewall frame so there's actually about a 2" wide glue seam around the panel edges and 1" on the cross bracing.
Glueing her? Now I see she is just a big supper high dollar model build huh Pro? J/K, beautifully done Pro, she is really taking shape. I can't wait to hear that monster run!

Ia m getting abead roller for Father's Day. ( I know because I asked for it and my wife couldn't lift it to move it away from the front door.)
What gauge steel are you using for the body panels?

22 ga. Rules call for .024'' firewall. Mine is more like .032'', but it's what I had available.
Yes Pro glue is the modern way to go but please remember to use spacers so that the urethane has a minimum of 1 to 2 mm of product to adhere to. Eg., don't clamp the panels so tight that all the urethane is squeesed out to the edge as is will result in poor bonding. Another interesting fact is to use the correct cleaner on both surfaces before bonding (Isopolene alcohol) so that the urethane will adhere to the clean surfaces. I think I have misspelt Isopolene but I hope you get my drift and you are probably fully aware of the correct procedure.;)
never heard of Isopolene alcohol......maybe you meant to say isopropyl alcohol?

I think I'll glue some aluminum to the inside of the quarter panels to attach the wheel tubs to the quarters. There's a few other spots I'd like to use it also. I'll have roughly $50 bux in glue on the firewall when it's done, so welding would be much cheaper. But it's so fast, easy & clean.
If I bought enough metal, I could glue me a garage together! What ya think guys, I could use old car hoods! LOL!! Pro I think we may have stumbled on to a new fad!
Hey Brickman you will start a novel looking garage using old car panels.Each garage would be different due to the different panels used etc.,I like your thinking tho. and using urethane would be strong enough. Image wind down door glass for ventilation and the bright colours of the complete building,heck the neighbours might have something to say about it.:LOL::LOL::LOL:

Everybody (but me) had to work this weekend, we celebrated Father's day Thursday, so I had the weekend to work on the firewall. Got a fair amount done.
Since this WILL be a street legal car, I found a new spot to display the trim code tag.

I stuffed it between the strut tube & the inlet side of the intercooler.
Also made paper patterns for a couple more pieces of the puzzle.
I decided to stamp a "Camaro: logo in the driver's side panel

The press and bead rolling oil canned the panel a little but I think it will straighten out when I put the 7/8" tabs on the top & bottom with the brake.
It came out fairly clean, even the little piece in the top of the "o" stamped. That part was about 1/2 the size of a pencil eraser. When I paint the firewall I'll paint the logo over this, the stamping will give it a little extra "pop".
Neat work Z!!! The details are gonna really make the car stand out... I worked all weekend too--didn't get anything done except rearranging and making room for what's in the shop now, and another new project.... But I'm gonna get back on my own stuff someday!!!!!!

A quick question on bead rolling. I just got a brand new Woodward Fab bead roller and I am already in love with the possibilities it provides. But I have a quick question. It seems to be leaving a scratch along the sides of the bead. have I tightened it down too much or is this just because the dies are new and the edges are still sharp?
Could be a little of both. Check you dies for sharp edges, also try backing the pressure off just a little. Grab some scrap and experiment until you find the right pressure.
Pro - I have to ask - is this car ever going to be done? (I have enjoyed watching your work and actually hope that it is never done for my reading sake and probably many others:LOL::LOL::LOL:)

These are my two projects on the go at the moment. The bucket isnt a project, but has been off the road for the past 18 months as we tried to cobble together a good reliable 540 cube blower motor on the cheap.
And the guy at the race shop told me I could have any two of fast, reliable and cheap.
By using a lot of second hand stuff, the long motor owes about a third of what it would have if Id bought new. Just took a while. Still, we hope to have around 900hp on the street for not much more than a 383 crate motor costs down here.

The more I looked at the Camaro panel the more things I found I didn't like. The deal breaker was when the bead rolled lines didn't match up to panel next to it. So, tonight I knocked out another one. It didn't take long since I had the stamp & measurements from the first "prototype". [ prototype = politically correct term to describe "junk part"]. I had to lay the panels in place to see how it was going to look. There's a lot of massaging to be do to get everything to fit, but it is getting closer.

looks good i have had a bead roller for many years i do not use it much .like to get it out to take nice sheet of steel or alum and turn it to junk. allso great for rolling the top of your finger skin thru the gears then at that time your new boots fill with pee. i think i told you that before ??? ok i never piss in my new boot it never made it that far:3dSMILE: ok wich tube will the hot pop corn come out of ?:3dSMILE:

I'm on panel #4. I changed the "camaro" panel one last time. This is the one I think I'll stick with. Still have a fair amount of tweaking & aligning to do & a couple small side panels to make.
