Your coupe looks great, Tom! Dave, I wish we lived closer.
Well, started taking Tom's coupe apart to do the last of the primer on it. Still have some work to do on the front fenders and doors, but coming along quite well.
Put in a couple more hours on the Bronco II, nothing major just cutting out some more of the rear window channel and replacing it with 20 ga. Got a price back on the moly tubing for the frame, looks like it will run about a grand for materials....and should end up with a bar chassis that weighs 300 pounds, probably about 130 pounds lighter than the same car built with DOM. Probably $400- $500 more to use moly, but for a stronger and lighter chassis guess I'll probably go that way.... Hope to get going on it and the 'maro when Tom's coupe is back at Tom's house.....
Still tuning and tweaking on Tom's coupe, still have to finish up the doors and the deck lid, still going quite well....
Decided the rear window openings on the Bronco II needed a bit of reinforcement to keep the new sheetmetal from being all floppy and nasty so I made some out of some .063 aluminum strips 1 1/2" wide. I'm going to glue and rivet them to the brackets I made on the window openings, then when I get the sheetmetal fit to fill the old window opening I'll glue it to the 3 aluminum strips and weld the outside.... With the extra supports, think I'll stick with the diet theme and just use 22 ga. for the filler panels...It's lighter!!!!!!!

Yeah Bobby, The Bronco II project is a blast, so far!!!! I've never done one before, so there's not a boredom factor, everything is new and requires thought and planning instead of just plain old work!!!! Tech gave me a real good idea for doing a 1/2 scale chassis plain to lay out all the suspension points and work on the geometry... It will be an all tube chassis and I will be trying some new stuff on the front end....then, again with Tech's help, gathering data for the necessary parts to build a big power supercharged Windsor with a 5 (or maybe 6) speed.... and make it all street legal!!!!!Quote:

Pics are the right front fender, lower portion where it bolts to the splash apron.... Had to cut a slice out of the fender, sand and grind the metal till the contour matched the apron, then weld the bolt flange back on..... Makes shimming a few bolts on the new stuff seem real easy!!!!!!
Dave your Craftmanship has surpassed a Master many times in your time . This Bronco is new territory and i am watching this build because your doing a great job teaching me to cut chop and rebuild . Now the channel part is not my fortay but your skill is .
Well thanks Bobby..... But really it's just what happens when I have no adult supervision and I get bored.... I run all my new ideas past the dog, if he doesn't voice any objections, then I go for it!!!!!!  :LOL:Quote:

Dave i remember the electronics you linked me to for the 5.0 engines . I still am looking for the wire goes here one . **)
I lettered a squad car today. I found out through earlier conversations that the new police chief is a gear head too. When he stopped by to pick up the car he asked to see the "Z". He was surprised when he saw it. Looked it all over and said he can't wait to see it on the track. I thought, Now isn't the time to tell him I want to make it street legal" One surprise at a time.
