Everybody that is currently building a car...

Got the deck lid put back together today... The skin was really mangled, looked like some big heavy objects had landed on it and left some huge dents....Had to take the skin off to work the dents out, do some shrinking, and patch some rust holes on the bottom edge... Tom and I both wondered if the skin was beyond hope, but I had to give it a try before building a new one... with the top corners being a compound curve, wouldn't have really been that easy to replace, so I repaired it. Here's a couple shots of it going back together. It still needs some dingin', and a glaze coat or two before primer....

Hey guys;
I finally got some pictures developed of the frame I’m building.
It’s not done yet, if I could stay out of the hospital long enough
I might just get it finished.
My grandmother passed this morning so I’ll have to spend the
next week up in Ohio. She died exactly 24 years to the day as
my Father. My Father died Nov. 23, 1984.
My Father was 54 and Grandmother was 90 years old on nov. 11.
Anyway you can see where my Project is. Kurt

Thanks Dave; 90 years is good long life, just glad she didn't suffer.
We were lucky to have her so long, Worried about my graddad now.
I'm afraid he will lose his will to live, I think he just hung on for her.
They were truely a great couple, they would argue at the breakfest
every morning and just when you thought they were sure to kill one
another they would both get these big grins on their faces.
That Mr.Ropper grin like on three's company.

It's looking mighty good Dave. I wondered why a guy needed so many Vice-Grips, now I see why.

I went out and got my motorcycle trailer yesterday (getting it ready for the trip to Florida) to reinforce it because the weight of the bike is bending the back of it down. Guess I should tell the trailer manufacturer about the problem so it can be corrected (I didn't buy my trailer from them I just built mine from their design). :LOL: :LOL: :rolleyes:
Anyhow I found some T parts that I forgot I had, rear fenders for a sedan, splash pans and a frame, also found my 35 Ford wheels that I thought a guy had stoled from me.

Im am building a 32 Roadster. It will have a TCI chassis, with a 3 inch dropped axle in the front,9 inch Ford with all Currie parts,Triangulated 4 link. 350/350 powerplant. Show me Rod and Custom Body.

Hey Moter; That's one sweet set up.
Them side rails look 8in tall.

Thanks its been alot of work..and still plenty to come :)

The rails are American stampings of the orginal 32 Frame...that has been boxxed. I guess the angle of the pics make it look pretty tall.

Moter; That frame makes my 10 gage 2 X 3 look dinky.
I've still got aways to go on mine yet.
Both sides under the cab have to come out to the edge
of the floor. I'm gonna mount the master cylinder under
the drivers seat. I like the way your brake lines come thru
the frame in the rear. Did that set up come with your frame
or did you buy a kit for that.
For the most part I know how I want mine to be, but there are
still some nick nacks I need to work out.
Mostly with making it look unclutterd as far as the wirring goes.
I like to look at everyone's, so I can get some good idea's.
I'm not powder coating my frame I'm just painting it,
I'm using that hammerd black paint. I really like the look and if
I get a nick in it, I can touch it up and I don't think anyone will
be able to tell. That's because the paint gives the impression
that some one gone all over the metal with a ballpin hammer.
Just an idea, Thanks for the peak at your frame. Kurt

I drilled holes thru the frame and bought stainless fittings that are AN on one side and pipe thread the other side. Orginally I wanted to powder coat the frame...but after talkingto a bunch of ppl about the pros and cons of it i decided to go ahead and paint it, The body and frame will be Washington Blue. I will get some more pics later this week.

The biggest problem with a powder coated frame is the fact that there is always a bracket (or several) that you have forgotten to weld on and now need to be bolted on instead (now how do I know this:LOL: :LOL: )

That was one of the reasons that i did not do the powder coating. I know there wil be soething that will need to be added. Plus if it chips or gets scraped it wil be very hard to match...

IMO the chip and scrape is a tall tale. You cannot believe what I've dropped on mine with nary a scratch or dig but possibly a few scuffs that I've been able to buff out with some Presta 1500. The outfit that did mine does all of the local high buck dirt track car chassis so possibly it's a better quality job then many. The only negative that I might mention is that there is a bit more "orange" peel then I would like but it is black

Thanks for posting this, Dave. Lots of good info here. This is exactly what I have to do to my decklid. I've got two junk ones that I hope will make one good one.
