Yea...................
BTW: How's the Maro comin' along?:whacked:
Hey Pro70, are those hinges just going to have a pin that is mounted in one and drops into the other say like a chain link gate would operate?
Yup. Sorta' like hood pins. Slowly crankin' out more hinge parts.
Must be nice having that sweet of eqiupment laying around, just to throw something together!! Very cool!!
Finally got a color coat on the top, still needs some very minor spot filler and a block sand, then I can shoot the final coat of white.........
Definatly no riddler winner ,but it looks just fine for my first complete frame off restoration. I see white at end of the tunnel...
The thing to keep in mind is that the truck is completely being done where it sits....your lookin at the paint booth/shop area in the pics.....one of the few benifits to being in southern cali!!!!!
Also since I knew this was not the final coat, this coat got shot on with a one pint trim gun...
We do not need to mention this is rustoleum oil based enamel either..........**) :HMMM:
Believe it or not as the paint dries ,the minor orange peel dissappears.
I did a test panel about 2 years ago with the stuff and it still looks new with no wax and no buff, sitting in the weather outside unprotected.
I figure a good buff and regular washing and waxing it should look good for 5 or 6 years, considering I will drive it like a truck in the dirt and rocks,it will last long enuff untill rock chips and door dings make it look bad again and considering thats 10 dollars worth of paint,I think it will be more than acceptable for my purpose, would I ever use this paint again......no,unless it was a beater.
The dry time is outlandish on this paint, making a long process in the driveway ,even longer. But I am happy with the results soo far......considering I am way under 3000 dollars soo far,I can see about another 1000 in tires and disk brakes on the front, other than that its just dress up stuff that I may want to add,soo maybe 5000 total with new side trim and all.
I think it will be nice considering it was rusted out and beyond normal hope when I got it,and the reason for this build was to learn on a 500 dollar junker ,rather than exsperiment with a real classic. This is my practice piece o junk, the next one will be uptown.
When complete it will be nothing to be ashamed about and I would not hesitate to say I did it all.
Your gettin' there a little at a time. I know about "a little at a time". Good job.
Update. Here's a pic. of the dash I got a few days ago.
And today I got the hat for the carb. I guess there's no chance this is gonna' fit the Ol' Carter 2b.

Hey, a little at a time is the only way, then you have time to plan! Looking very cool Pro70, what all is going in the dash? That carb is hugh man, that hat would fit me!
I like the looks of that paint shawnlee, sounds like it is tough too. Are you also saying it is expensive also or cheaper?
8.99 a quart:LOL:
I did not want to blow a 1 or 2 hundred dollars on wasted paint......as this is the second go around on the color,I sanded the last coat pretty much completely off ,before filling and priming ,because of improper body work:CRY: This time I was much much closer,so close infact ,that I will just use spot putty in a couple of places that are like small chips.Block sand and shoot for the third and hopefully final time.It looks good now at about 3 or 4 feet away, but when you look close you can see a couple of spots that need more work,...oh well ,thats how you learn. In total it will be 3 cans used at 8.99 a quart, its taking almost 3/4 of a quart to cover the white area.
If I was using regular automotive paint that would have been a couple hundred bucks sanded back off:D
But theres always a price to pay ,and thats is, its hard to work with and sets up at the speed of tar:LOL:
I am havin fun and I am learning..........plus the local parts house has got to be freakin out at the amount of sand paper sold in the last month:LOL:
Dang, that is wild! Good luck and I hope that it turns out lasting, I will use it myself if it does.
Pro70, I have a question for you. Would you say that when you hit WOT hard, the engine just dyes is more timing or carb?
Good question . Could be either. Are you having problems with hesitation?
Heres a better shot of the small imperfections that I need to take care of,pretty close for never doing this before..........:D
This is day 3 after shooting the paint on and its starting to set now:LOL:
I should be okay to use spot putty on these small spots????
You can see the spot in the upper left hand corner of the pic and the bottom of the lower pic you can see the sand marks....This look like what the spot putty was made for ?
Tony, could also be fuel filter is partially plugged.Quote:

It might be instructive if you could tell us how low fuel level caused by misadjusted floats would be different from low fuel level caused by a dirty filter slowing fuel flow into the carb. Oh, and you might explain how you can dismiss one or the other without actually diagnosing the car and with limited fault description.Quote:
