Got the basecoat on the cab of the pickup today, ran out of gas and decided to put the red and clear on tomorrow.

Then, there's my "students" first ever paint job, still needs the old cut and buff, think he did real good though!!!!! Next item on the list is take the suspension apart and lower the truck!!!! Some of the 4WD guys wish there's sat up this high!!!!!:LOL: :LOL: :LOL:

Pro you'll only need room for a quick change of drawers after the first run with it LOL.

Falcon old shiny 5 spoke work well on allmost anything ive seen them on .

I'll pass on the congrats to him, Bob. He has painted some small parts, and practiced technique on some body parts but the 70 was his first complete. With some practice, I think he'll be a good painter....

Got some paint on the rest of the cab of my pickup, started wet sanding on Bill's. Bill did the painting on mine, too. A couple runs in the clear to wet sand out, but all in all not too bad at all!!!!

Dave trucks are looking good there kinda of close maybe a new brand name coming soon LOL.

I have had to sand out a few runs in my day , paint stick with some paper made a nice flat surface to hit the high spot on them .

There's a couple of runs in the clear, no big deal to take care of when I'm doing the cut and buff.... Thanks for the comments...

It's been so long since i did one im sure i'll be sanding a few . i'm wanting to try a HVLP on this one i have a old hood of 67 to test out on .

HVLP = High volumn low pressure

ok, so what does that accomplish, better flow of the paint?

Finish is suppose to be great since paint is not bouncing of panels from higher air pressure. I think my faster movement technic will work with this type but there new to me too. They just started coming out when i quit working in the business. As with everything though there technology has advanced trifold im sure .

I have two HVLP guns, a touchup and a full size, both gravity fed. First thing I noticed was that I use lots less paint, and consequently overspray isn't all over everything in the surrounding areas.

Someone like HOTRODPAINT or some others would certainly have more knowledge on the finish they produce and all, but from a laymans standpoint, I like them a lot.

I tried one of these guns when I painted junior's truck but I had a heck of a time with it. I had the pressues set where they said but it kept spitting. I don't know if it was the metallic paint or I was just doing something really wrong but I finally gave up and pulled my old gun out. It sprayed nice with the older gun. Is there something about metallic paint that won't work in these?
