Hey Dave from reading your posts for a couple years now I would say he got the right guy for the job. Finding anyone who will be willing to take ownership of a job and do it right is getting increasingly hard to find. I sold the Falcon in Sept. after I lost my job of 11 years, so i did what any redblooded hotrodder would do, I went and bought a basket case project. I will attemp to put some pics in and show my progress somewhere on the site. Good luck with the employee search. Mitch
Thanks Mitch. So far things are going great. Actually found a younger kid (about 25) who actually doesn't think he already knows everything and is willing to learn!!!!! He's a real hustler, always working and eager to try something new. Have another guy I've known for years working part time, doing just the body work. The search continues for another full time body and paint guy.
Anyway, anxious to see pics of the new basket case!!! They're always fun!!!
Dave been lurking here and hope this turns out . There are some good young guys who are more to the front off the line . But the pro's well some have come to expect more for less and that's not the way it works . More for more is the equation .
A shop start's out paying a guarantee and they can become lax when work is slow and we all know that . They don't want to kill the job and be standing around . You put them on a book hour and elbows and hammers are moving but you need the work to keep them making money or they move on .
Now when you get slow come here and stay I will feed ya well :3dSMILE: You and me could have mine done in no time . I need the push now and again also . I see all 3 done in a few months and we would still have time to gab and drink coffee . :HMMM: well maybe 2 we would have a lot to talk about mostly me learning and you teaching me the rights and wrongs .

Got the Mustang in primer yesterday, the owner is coming up on Saturday to talk about colors and some other changes. Think he wants the car blue, hopefully a bit of suspension work, the car needs it....
Started hanging some suspension on the Plymouth frame today and continuing with boxing the rails. Deleted the old X-Member in the center of the frame, got to make a new one to accomodate the Hemi and OD transmission, huge in comparison to the original six popper flattie and 3 speed!!!! Having fun with the car, what a great project!!!! Owner decided he wants the rear fenders welded and molded to the body, so got one side ground down and ready to fit and tack the fender. Still no rust surprises anywhere on the car!!!! The front part of the floor has some rust, but it's going to be gone to make room for the new powertrain anyway.... Hot Rodding is always fun, but working on a car this nice just makes it way big fun!!!!!

Dave here are the pic I promised of my latest project. I'm trying to get some photos of the Heidts SuperRide frontend. Was forced to channel the body which was a shame because the floor was near perfect. I am newly employed so I will have to slow down the build. Looks like you are making great progress. Haven't posted any pics in a while; it's getting closer. Waiting on a Q-jet and a radiator fan I bought off of Ebay before we can test start. Drivetrain is mounted and the headers are on, plus lots of little stuff done. Also heres my grandson cheering on a Kurt Warner TD during the Superbowl.:3dSMILE:

Geez went back to days and the new start time is 6 am . Up at 4 am getting ready and out the door at 5 am to get to work whheeww wearing me out . Maybe I need the Chevette to knock out some travel time LOL .
Got the body set back on the frame so we can start figuring out how to mount the Hemi between them skinny old rails!!!! Still have to cut out a bit of the old floor to get the body to sit down on the frame right, I have some temporary crossmembers bolted on the top and bottom of the rails to hold the frame width til the engine and tranny is in and I can fab up the permanent crossmembers. We also got some primer on the '69 Camaro this week, should be ordering some of the suspension goodies for it next week.....

Got the tires and wheels for the Plymouth on Saturday, just had to mock them up to see how it would look.... Oh yeah, the red on the car is the OEM primer, not rust!!! This thing is in really awesome condition!!! Will start fitting the engine and building the crossmembers for the frame next week, what a fun project it's turning out to be!!!! Think the owner did a jam up job of picking the tires and wheels, gonna look like a stock old Plymouth with chrome wheels-----and nobody will even see the 5.7L Hemi and all the other goodies!!!!! Deception is kewl, isn't it??????;):LOL::LOL::LOL:

Dave you have yourself a new car there why you fixing it up . It is nice to start with such a clean body, gets them put on the road fast when you can work on them .
Well, after almost 1 1/2 years up on blocks, I finally made all the new fuel connections and adapters and installed the new custom fuel tank in the Bentley. Dumped in 5 gallons of Fuel and after charging the battery she fired up on the second try. Now to find and Insurance agent to register this thing and get driving again.
That's a cool ride, do you have some close up pics you can post?
Good news on the Bentley!!! The car sure is going to be a blast to cruise in, doubt you'll ever pull up to a stoplight beside another one just like it!!!!

It's pretty close; it should be ready for a test start this weekend. I just picked up my new 14" long driveshaft last night. I'll take a few new shots and post them Sunday. It's a good thing I used that short water pump and single pulley or I'd have never got the radiator and fan in it. I'm getting anxious to blow those little pizza cutter tires off of it with a smokey burnout!
With all the wiring and boxes on top it looks terrible, but the Plymouth has a hemi---going to build some motor mounts tomorrow. Also started building some crossmembers for the frame. The whole project is shaping up quite nicely, gonna be a neat car!!!!!

In my younger days, I burnt a new set of radials to the steel belts in 10 days.
I still believe the tire time is going to be measured in seconds!!!! Those suckers will fail from horsepower shock!!!!!
It'll be interesting. It'll probably take another week before I'm ready to road test, just startup and cam break in this weekend. Keep your fingers crossed for me. That Mopar is looking sweet, Dave. The modern Hemi is an awesome idea!
Sorry, no pics this weekend. I finished hooking everything up last night and tried to start it but I think I've got the timing off. It was popping back through the carb. Also my $59.95 Ebay mini starter lasted about 20 revolutions before it shot craps. What a bargain, I should have just bought one from Advance. I'll pick up a starter and try again tonight.
Looks like a good method, I'll try it. I can tell it was getting fuel by the 8 foot mushroom cloud that came out of the carb.;)
Thanks Denny, it worked like a champ! I was one tooth off; fired right up after I reset it. The motor sounds good, good temp and oil pressure. Now to start tidying up the wiring. As soon as I get the dash back together and get the brakes working, we'll do a short trip down the street to test how the trans shifts.
