I wouldn't do that to ya Dave! I'd rather it be a 34 w\a Boss 9 4 Speed 9-inch car!:3dSMILE:

That certainly is a fine looking coupe. Those tail lights are boss! Can't wait to see this one finished!
I'm getting cremated, ain't taking no chances on the hearse being a chebbie!!!!!!:eek::eek:
Made crack a big smile then Dave .
35 Ford wow your dads car has sure made a transformation and is looking great . I seen some progress work on some site but lost it . The last shots that stick are of it as your dad had it but in your garage nice and dusty .
A little spruce up for summer, before and after.
Looks really nice, Bob
Very nice, now go have some fun!!!!!
Bobby- that's my cardomain site...It isn't updated very often, but I like to add some pictures on there occasionaly. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2449283
there isn't as much progress as i would like...it's going on 3 years and it was supposed to be done this fall for my dad to drive it to his 50th high school reunion (he bought the car in 1958) but that's the way it goes and things are coming together.
very nice Bob...I like the changes, but you put the wrong front end on it :LOL:
Very classy machine Uncle Bob! I like it best with the white walls. Guess I'm aging.

Uncle Bob very nice sedan. Could we see some back view shots? What's the story on the two different hood ornaments? Very classy ride.
Very cool, Bob. Grey is the perfect color for that beast.
35 I bookmarked it this time makes it easy to see progress.
Bob nice change on the wheels I do like the black rims on it .
Thanks guys. Steve, the ornament that came on it was the stock one (broken V legs) with the greyhound clamped on top of it. It was a Ford aftermarket thing in the '30s, they've been repopped for years. To my tastes it's too much of a tarty restoration type treatment, so I replaced it with a new Drake original style. If you're into the details, I also took off the seal beam conversions and went back to the original style, put in a Drake halogen kit to get better light, it's a 12v system now. Besides the lowering front and rear I also spent time cleaning up the rest of the under carriage, redoing some wiring and plumbing that was pretty sloppy and put in a Red's exhaust from headers to rear tips. Since you asked about the rear treatment, before and after pics attached. I took off the spare, moved the plate to the center of the bustle (hides the spare mount holes without having to do body and paint :D), and put the rear bumper on shortened brackets so it didn't look like it was hangin' way out there. Bobby, I played with both red and black and the black won. I've got another set of hubcaps coming that I'll also paint black so I can change up the look. The all black will give it more of a hot roddy look than these grey ones do, but I like the look of both so I'll keep both colors. My expectation is the Posie rear spring will settle down some as they usually do so the attitude will change some in the future.
Did a bit of restyling on the grille opening on the Plymout.... Wanted to hide the radiator tank from the front view thru the grille and open up the sides a tad for better air flow for the radiator, condensor, and tranny cooler. Worked out good, the owner likes the new look, sez it should confuse the heck out of peeps as to what the car is...and of course I like it cuz it's a departure from original and should help the driveability of the car... Got to do a bit more sheetmetal work, then get the body on the rotissierie and go to work on the frame finishing and body work....
Looks nice Dave. Owner's gonna have one sweet ride when you guys finish.
Thanks, it's getting there!!! Definitely not a "buy it and bolt it on" build!!! Lots and lots of hours in designing and fabricating, but it should be a nice car!
Actually spent some quality time with the 'maro today. Got one frame tie cut out and tacked into place. Other side is almost ready. Then it's time for some engine and transmission mounts and fabbing up the rest of the suspension pieces.... Now if somebody would just wanna buy the dang thing when it's a roller so I don't have to suffer the humiliation of having to finish a chebbie in my garage!!!!!!:LOL::LOL:
That's a sweet looking ride, Dave. If John Dillinger had that car, he never would have been caught. Glad to see the Camaro making headway again. We're changing your screen name to "Bowtie Dave" in honor of your love for GM!:LOL:
A master at work and Dave that sure does look different . Yeah what about the bow tie :D .
You know you could regain your pride by working on this .

Sure do like the little coupe Bobby!!!! Built one of them many moons ago, in the sedan version.... A lightly rolled over Mark IV Lincoln gave up it's drive train, engine, power everything, and a "tuned up" 460, a real sweetheart to travel in.... The Plymouth I'm building is similar to my old sedan, just a bit bigger. Would be fun to tie into one of the coupes someday, lots of potential!!!!
We were taught bow ties choked people!:LOL:
:D Wonder if we'll be able to pick on you much longer Dave. Ford is still going strong. :D
Heck. I may turn from the dark side sooner than I think. My wife has found a 67 Fastback and said she IS buying it. Now if I can just figure out how to get this emblem on the hood.:LOL::LOL:
Okay Bobby, just for you.........
Got done with the headers on the Plymouth some time ago, but had the front sheetmetal back on the car before I remembered to take any pics.... So here they are, 1 5/8" primaries with a 3 1/2" collector, then a 2 1/2" exhaust system with H pipe and megs on the end.... Going to take the engine and tranny out, fit the front sheetmetal and doors for the final time, then take it apart and start the body work and finishing the frame welds and prepping it for paint....
Bob you know you are making it harder on me . That is sweet and has just the right look .
Stovebolter you just missed this rare one I sold in September would have been a great ride for her . 390 4spd car No bow tie on hood just FORD :D

Dave I cant wait my self . Going to jump on 31 and get it going for the funds . That way there is no waiting on what I need .
Amazing!!! Actually got something accomplished today! Took the front sheetmetal and the engine and trans out of the Plymouth. Got to fit the fenders and the hood on the car one more time and make the necessary adjustments, then final fit the coilovers and the rest of the rear suspension and finish up the brake pedal and linkage to the booster and master cylinder. A few other little things to tweak and tune, then it'll be time to put the body on the rotissierie and get it ready for paint...
Came home and ate, had a little ambition left so I went out in the garage to fit and tack the other frame tie into the 'maro....
Some days, things do actually go right!!!!!!:LOL::LOL:
Paint done some assembly required.
The coupe is lookin' good!!!! Should be done soon, huh???
Looks great Who me! Purple done right always stands out. It's a tough color to pick the right shade or tone? I really like the color you chose.
Shwew! Finally figured out how to get trim off the El Camino. They clipped and glued it in. Real bugger. Actually got it off without damaging a thing. Now we're trying to decide if we need a new windshield now before paint.
Nearly have the cowl hood finished. Went with a metal weld on 2 1/4 cowl verses buying one already done. They only stamp a 4" cowl for the 65's and thats just a bit too tall for my liking. Man I love that Dynatron Poly-Grip. Goes on smooth as butter and sands reeaaal easy. Should have the hood ready for high fill in the next couple days. I'll try to get some pics.
Now its time to go through the PPG site. Seems like I remember someone saying they have a clear coat now that goes over single stage. Anyone? What I'm hoping for is the ease of making a good wet coat....waiting a few days.....then ultra fining (wet sand).....and a couple coats of clear over top for a deep gloss. Similar to the HOK stuff.....only in PPG. I know in the past the single stage PPG wouldnt accept top coats without the clear yellowing or hazing. Anyone?
My son is now figuring out the harsh reality of having a classic car that needs a makeover. LOL's. He spend the weekend with his buds while I sanded away at the hood. Woke him up this morning at 6 and told him it was time for him to earn his car. Told him to strip the entire car. "What......the whole car dad?" LOL's. The car has a lot of deep checking so we have to strip the biggest part of the car. Man that paint is hard to get off. It melts to the disks and just smears. At this time I'm using a high speed metal grinder/grinding disc to to get close to the metal without getting metal hot. Then taking it down to the metal with a 4" fiber wheel for paint and rust remover. Seems to be the fastest way without getting the metal too hot. Tried the razor blade......broke two in a matter of minutes.
Hope everyone is enjoying their projects.

Dave,
My oldest son was the same way with his 69 Chevy truck. I couldn't get him to do squat on it until it was almost done and he could start to visualize the finished product. My youngest son has been much better about helping on his car.
I've got a paint question; We're going to paint my son's 94 Firebird and I'm wondering how to address the plastic nosepiece. There's a lot of cracking in the paint on this part. How do I prep this to paint it so that doesn't come back? Is there any special way to sand these plastic pieces so as not to mess them up? Anything you have to add to the primer and paint for flexing?
Who me coupe is looking good , If I remember that is like a root beer color right .
Bobby from the pictures he posted it looks more like a Grape Neehi:D
Well it could be grape , Thought I seen some brown though May have been the beverage :) .
firing engine this weekend
