Thanks Dave. I gave him the old.....'look over the spectacles' look and told him he has a long way to go still. Cant run out of steam yet. :LOL:
BTW...them headers sure look cool! Youre giving me ideas on mine now. I know I want to attempt equal length and tuck them between the frame rails and the fenders. Going to have to figure out a heat sheild of sorts though. Fiberglass fenders. Maybe I should put the steels back on. :confused:

Falconvan....Yes. I wouldve done anything to be in his shoes when I was his age. I was into classics at his age. First vehicle was a 49 Chevy truck with opera windows. The only way I got a rumble was to pull a plug wire. :LOL::LOL::LOL:

Well, I burned a bridge last night. My new Dynatechs fit except for #2. So I whacked it off so I can reroute it around the frame rail.
Small job, but stay tuned. I've been known to make small jobs last a long time.

Fished today first time in a about 20 years , The other day spent some time with the poly wheel man I love these things for stripping paint . Took down both right fender's and the door in a few hours .

What's a poly wheel, Bobby?

Got the pieces rough fit last night. Pieces are a touch long so I can grind them down to match up the joints. All that's left is to get some tape that can take the heat. :eek:

Get ya pics and less words . Falcon I know you have seen them , they last along time just watch the edges , They will spin off pieces at you a little as they wear too.

Strip with these then rub with some scotch brite pads course is better and metal looks slick .

Those things are the great. We've literally stripped the Elky bare. I was afraid they'd be expensive....but in the end we only used a dozen.

I use the high end (purple) 3M's for corners, then the small rolocs for a die grinder for the stuff you cant quite get with the big wheel. For the large....real flat areas I use those poly wheels for attatching to a electric grinder. Just watch staying in one spot too long or your metal will get too hot.

This is the HF brand hold up surprisingly well at $4 something a piece . 3 rd one here so far and I did one mustang fender. What I do is start with a new wheel getting the crannys then when edge is wore in I go to surface area . They really don't seem to need any pressure to work well , If your getting it warm the paint should start to get gummy then its time to leave area and move to another section . This way I save on the roloc's very little clean up needed. I use the polishing pads C,M,F not a grit paper .

Starting on a new panel I just let it whip and keep moving . This wheel cuts so fast it dont take long to get errr done . No heavy grind marks to contend with either having to DA them out .

Here is one worn down but still good , just has a thin cut surface save it for some thing small . Oh I do spin them a 20k my bad.

Yeah, think I'd go with the TIG...... You don't have much welding to do on yer headers, when yer done you can sure come weld on mine awhile!!!!!

Nice job! I am using a show me rod and custom roadster body also. How do you like it?Do you have any pictures of the interior during the build?

I don't have the body yet. Trying to finish frame first then get the body. also I don't have the money right now. ( sold my race car and bought the wife a swimming pool with the money for putting up with the race car ). hoping to complete the car in about 2 yrs. as far as interior Headliner in Fort Worth TX. will be doing it when the time comes. How do you like your body. How long after you got it did you paint the car?

I bought the body late last year. Its been a process that I dont want to go thru again for awhile. Alot of stuff to fiqure out...got screwed over by one shop here in Austin that was suposed to do some work for me...

The frame and body go to paint this weekend. A freind that works at Classic Jaguar here in town is doing the interior. Im going washington blue for he body, im running a hood top only, I have a Sid Chavers Bop top in Tan, Interior will be a distressed leather.....Some day it will be done :D

Good lookin' frame, SG!!! No time limit on putting a Hot Rod together!!! For some of us the fun is in the build process anyway!!!!

Not much new here.... Spent yesterday welding on the driver's side floor of the 'maro getting the frame ties and some reinforcement pieces put in place. Another one of them deals where you work all day and it doesn't look like you've accomplished anything!!! Hope to get the rest of the floor and some other details finished up today, then lower the car down to ride height and start on the suspension....

I went ahead and traded my 92 Vette. I needed a good car for work and didn't feel like putting an engine in the vette so I ran it on Craigslist to look for a good even trade. It's a 2002, 3.8 5 speed. Should make a decent daily driver.

Good lookin' Horse, Falcon!!!! The 3.8 is a good engine, does quite well on mpg, too. Heck of a lot nicer car then some old blowed up chebbie!!!!

Quite the switch! We usualy don't see Bow Tie owners ever look at the blue oval!:LOL::D

Well, I've got Mopars and GM's; I figured I might as well get a Furd in the driveway, too.:LOL: I got several trade offers; this one looked and drove the best and had the least miles. Hopefully I can get a few good years out of it.

I had a couple hours yesterday afternoon & a couple more this afternoon, so I thought I'd get organized for the upcoming "Z" firewall build. I've got some sheet metal tools that have been under the bench for a good long while now. So, I chopped up an old attachment I had for my first track loader that was just collecting dust in the corner. It had some slip tubes on it (like a receiver for the hitch). I used some angle iron I had in the shed and made this deal up. I put it on an outside corner of the shop so I'd have plenty of workin' room.

I've used the bead roller a couple times. Clamped it in the band saw when I DID use it.

I'm wondering about a wing (table top) on each side of the bead roller to help feed the stock through? or maybe it would just get in the way? Any thoughts?

I still plan to make an attachment to hold the bench vise, and one for a small welding table. I'm gettin' tired of saw horses......... :oops:

A table top for the bead roller is a definite plus!! Makes them a whole lot easier to accurately follow a line... The corner setup should work good, Pro!!!!

Gary, you might also design in a fence to help maintain spacing. Comes in handy on some rolls.

I welded up the welding table tonight. I cut the supplies kinda' close. I have 1/2 pc. of filler rod left, 20 PSI of argon in the second tank & the 20''x20'' table top was the biggest pc. I could get out of what's left of a 4'x4'x3/16'' sheet of steel. 20''x20'' is small, but it's a bigger surface than I've been using & a whole lot more stable.

Not really, more like a whole lot of time holding back the gag reflex!!!!! Hopefully somebody will come along and want it soon, hopefully before it's even finished!!!!!! Just need to make some $$$$$ to throw at some other projects.... Actually, the car has been very interesting to work on---the unibody structure has some good points and some bad points... The frame ties have helped a lot, think an 8 point cage and the right bracing and crossmembers should make it a good, solid car... Full frame cars are a lot easier, but the unibodies do present some interesting challenges. I guess, just between you and me, I do kinda like the car!!!!
