Randy those are some clean fenders , mine needs the whole patch front lowers . There is a blaster I found about close to here that will charge a Dollar a minute to blast smaller parts , he likes them as fill in .

Getting the bad itch again ebayed some Dura Blocks and Paper to get this Mustang done . Also purchased a Suzuki GS 1000 E to flip since it was so cheap . 1978 but a terrific engine just needs TLC .

It has been a bit of frustration to get the hood to fit right and i finally settled on the idea that it is better to get the front edge right instead of the rear edge. The '29 rear hood hinge rod was too tall as I showed in my last post in April but a '30-'31 mount made a better fit. Along the way I dinged the paint in a few places but that is too late now and maybe some of them can be rubbed out later. It turned out that you have to tap threads into the tube frame (Brookville) for the front hold downs and the 'glass body did not accomodate the front curve-down of the front apron so there had to be some trimming of the hold-down shelves. Well here it is as a ten-foot car (it looks good from ten feet away, don't look too close!).

Got frustrated with the lack of fit and splurged to get a steel repro. Then worked almost a whole summer to get the fit as close to perfect as I could. Later, after the car was painted, I re-installed with new gaskets and it never fit right since.. **) :rolleyes: It's okay, I've moved past it.. it's also a glass car and I want to drive it not make a museum piece! Now with the "plaudits" done, I'm glad that you are back and puttering with the car. I really looks nice and that hood is just fine. Ol' Henry Ford made them pretty loose and yours looks better by far.
Drilling the frame for the latches is a 'given' but as a guy just putting a car together the first time, there are some gotchas. Then since this Model A chassis is virtually the same through the entire four year run, there are just some things after market can't do. And dings - I have a few and just figure they are road and shop rash. I'll touch them up over the winter and go on driving. Now, driving mine - it's usually rained when I have the time this summer. I think I drove it once in September and not much more in August with Irene and Lee making some roads as well as my yard a mess.

Rich - Maybe it needs to have some surgery. Took mine partially apart to do a few mods - i.e. get rid of that Cool Flex top hose, change to a 4 hole phenolic spacer, move the alternator to the right side and much lower, add an MSD Cap-Adapt to stop ignition cross firing and a few other odds and ends - - - and polish the aluminum:

The weather this summer and fall has been so crummy/wet, every piece of (billet:eek:) aluminum has some fusty crud on it.

I moved my alt down low when I did the engine transplant in `03 just kept welding pieces of scrap together so I had something to bolt to, then did measurements and made the brackets out of stainless tubing and alum bar stock, the store bought one never even got close to working...Why did you remove the cool flex....?Quote:
