Thanks for that info Jim. It never would have even dawned on me to to shorten my own drive shaft. Now I'm planning on doing it to my T.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed, hoping none of us Florida folks get hammered too hard by that little storm coming this weekend!Steve

That stupid storm is going to cause trouble for a lot of folks. At this point (11:03 Sat morning) the projected path has been moved to the west coast of Florida. Looks like St. Pete is right in the path. Good luck Steve. If you haven't evacuated already, hunker down and hold on!Jim

My house is wood and 70 years old. I have it all boarded up. We are staying at our neighbors place, which is up to modern hurricane codes. It's pretty calm this morning, but it's going to be a wild ride tonight!Steve

This ol' place was built in 1957. It's concrete block and already been through a few of these storms. Looks like the storm is weakening faster than first thought. Keep our fingers crossed!Jim

It looks like we will get very lucky here in St. Pete. As of now, 8:25 pm, we are only getting gusts up to 45 mph. It looks like it won't get much worse than that. Orlando is going to get it worse than us. But it is now only a Cat. 2, not really life threatening.Steve

I'm just south of Hamilton GA, my house hasn't lost power and no wind damage. Lots of power outages all around me though. Looks like it's about over, we'll see. I hosted a hurricane party last night, just a few friends. We had fun..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

No damage to my place. Just a big mess in the lawn and streets. The power is out, and probably will be for a number of days, along with about 80% of the neighborhood. Plenty of fences came down. A guy down the street had a tree come through his roof. Zero flooding around my area.Steve

Power went out about 8:30 Sunday evening. No power meant no TV and no computer to entertain ourselves. We spent a long night in the recliners with the portable radio keeping us informed. Our back yard privacy fence was flattened, a few small limbs were down, and the roofing material was blown off my storage shed, but we suffered no damage to the house. Power was restored about 7:30 Tuesday evening. Got the yard cleaned up Monday afternoon and started disassembling the reusable parts of the fence. Today (Wed) I'm re-roofing the shed. The fence will be a longer-term project as I have to replace all the posts! Ugh!Jim
