Dave, no sweat as I said on the boot. Like I said earlier, I do have a Lokar shifter boot, # is 70FMB I think it was... It also has the cheap flimsy stainless trim. So it sounds like the one you have is the match to mine. I was gonna complain about the lack of pics but I see Bluestang already got ya! :LOL:**):3dSMILE: Especially after all that work on choosing seats! OH, and btw, what's an "IB" for the cruise?:confused:

The shifter boot should go on tomorrow as I had to make a 1" riser and paint the carpet color. The e-brake boot will follow in a few days as I'm not sure how tall to make that riser until the shifter riser is on.

SWEEEET, DAVE!!!!!! It's looking really great! Those seats look pretty comfy in there. I think you're going to be able to put some miles on it by springtime! Wish I was that far along on mine....:CRY:

I'll agree with Randy! Not sure why you were doubting your first decision but, I think those seats looks sweet! Certainly look to be comfortable! Oh, and regarding the pics, we want MORE!!! :LOL::LOL: :3dSMILE::3dSMILE: :D :)

The seats - yeah, I'll admit that they do look good, but they are too bulky, particularly the back. Remember, I'm pretty tall and I have a firewall that has a 5 plus inch recess and with my size 12 foot - tight

IB = Instruction Book or in this case, Installation Book.

There are 10 or more wires and a less then great schematic, a bag of parts with only 40-50 percent of them identified, twelve DIP switches with 4-5 of them a guess as to which way they are to be set. Then to top it off, the operating cable is a set length (too long) so I had to buy a $70 Lokar(out of stock everywhere) that could be shortened - and that cable had no information as to how to shorten either so a phone call to Lokar. Then to make life even more fun the Dakota Digital IB differed from the on-line Summit version and they both differed from the manufacturer's on-line version. Then of course, since the car had already been finish wired, many, many of those nice cable ties - they had to be cut which I then did again for the stereo installation. I think this car has probably kept the cable tie industry alive this past year:whacked::LOL::LOL::LOL:

Of course, this is no big deal as building a car from the ground up has to be a challenge and a time eater. Those without patience need not apply if they want to do this kind of project:D

Since I don't want to violate any of the unwritten rules, yeah, right! I searched for a few pics to share. I can't find any from 2000 when I bought the frame but I did locate some from 2001. These first pics are from the trip to get the body. I bought the body from a guy in Frankenmuth (spelled?) MI. And some friends had family nearby. I was living in New Mexico then. Anyway, we made arrangements that they would travel home for a visit and on the return trip they'd go into MI and pickup the body and I shared fuel costs back. So here's some pics that they would e-mail me from on the road.

And then here's 3 with the body setting on the frame.

Those are great pics but the "unwritten rule" which I guess is getting is getting written as we speak....:LOL: is that you post pics of what you just worked on, i.e. your window installation. That way, all these faithful viewers can see our progress and perhaps relate it to something they're doing on their own project. Now get out there and take some pics of those windows!!! LOL!

Sheesh! Some people are never happy! **) Actually I was happy I found those as I thought I lost them with the old computer! So I thought I'd share.

I ain't taken the door panel off so I snap a pic so you can hopefully see the door has a window! Sorry but that panel ain't coming apart until the painful aggravating memories fade some more!:LOL:

I'll try and get some pics of me doing hood alignment. That should last about 20 minutes into the project when my blood pressure skyrockets! Then I'll forget the camera again. That's what usually happens to me. The situation at hand overrides all other thoughts... :LOL: :rolleyes:

The "panel" is the access into the inner door space and which the window regulator mounts onto. Remove that "panel" and you remove the regulator.

I just got it together and the feelings of success haven't dimmed after all the hours invested. It was just "one of those jobs" , ya know?? It should've been simpler than it actually turned out to be. And lastly, it makes the doors so solid! they close with "that sound"! You know? You can't describe it but, you know when you hear it! Kinda like p_rn....**):eek: :D

Burlington is one of the reasons I've put off the hood install. The range of "acceptable" gaps was so wide with so many different cars that sometimes I reconsider what I should feel is acceptable. I know the factory wasn't fussy! :LOL:

And then there has been the cold. The shop is 40 x 60 and with all the equipment and cars it takes forever to warm it up. Last saturday it was 17 degrees inside at 10 am when I flipped the heater on. I came back at noon and it was only 40 degrees!:eek: I started working and was all bundled up and it wasn't til 2:30 or so that it got to 60! I stayed til about 5, 5:30 and the heater only shut off 2 or 3 times all day! The oil man is gonna love me when I call for a refill as I've got 2 tanks, 275 gallons each, tied together for the shop. :CRY: :CRY:

I'm supposed to go to the shop this weekend and will see about a pic or two.

Okay, so here we go. Here's some pics of the completed project on the doors. One of the goals was no visible fasteners for the channels in the door and the "runner" across the top of the door. Naturally that won't include the regulator mounting but I didn't want to add anymore visible bolts.

Also shown in the pics is the completed install of the insulating mat. I stuck that stuff everywhere. Certainly wasn't cheap but it works very nice in controling interior noise! And hopefully temperature. :LOL:

With the warmer weather (mid 60's today!) I made a few hours over the weekend and worked on fitting the hood and fabbing some latches. Far be it from me to "bend" the unwritten rules so here's a couple pics of where I left off. Still a pile of work to do but I'm feeling better with how it's coming together.

Well if I haven't told you guys yet the 37 is up North a few hours from here . Zack the guy I hired to tweak some metal on the 31 is doing a complete for me . With the 31 and the Mustang I have a full plate . If I ever want to see it done soon I had to seek some help . He has some really decent rates and His time is worth about the same as mine .

But I have been nipping away at the 31 for a bit . I finally got a hold of a set of coil overs that fit perfect in the rear , and this week end I got the new top wood kit in . This I found of a guy on the hamb who is a cabinet maker just getting into top wood kits . Saved a ton getting from him and shipped to the door . Fit is great but like all some adjustments are needed right .

I also changed out the 9 and put in a 8 inch rear end .

Bobby, I like fenders! Thanks for posting more "inspiration"! I hope your metal guy is taking a few pics of his progress on the 37, too. That's great that you're getting it done at the same time. Can't wait to see it.

Sorry, no new pictures here, but we went from icicles to blooming trees in what seems like only two weeks! I got 70% of the new book finished during the snow days but now I have to finish before I can get back to the car. Thanks for the recent pictures, IC2 is really doing quality work and that new hood has that old nostalgia effect for me, those '34 inner fender panels always look good to me and the hood with the handle is a real treat for the eyes. Even though I got drawn into the SBC scene for economic reasons, that "old" Ford steel still has a magic effect on me even when the steel is new repo!

Hi Don. Glad you like the pics. I felt that "hot rod" 3 piece hood & sides have been over done. I think this one gives it a "old timey" feel. Oh, and believe me I know the economics all to well!

I haven't chatted with IC2 in quite some time... although I've seen him around here.

I took out the 9 in the 31 to run behind a 351 W in the 37 . Figured to be a little safer then sorry you know . The 31 only has a slight work up so the 8 should be fine .

OK - I'm here!!! Sorry for the delay answering but since we are painting and polishing the house in anticipation of putting it on the market within the next couple of weeks, not a lot of computer time. I'm doing the standard home owners "deferred maintenance":o:o. Headed for the Roanoke/Salem, VA area as soon as we can to get out of the most taxed and bankrupt state. Randy - your response - I agree!!! But the car awaits you:whacked::whacked:

Mike - the hood actually fits:eek::D. A couple tweaks, and a whole (hole?) lot better then most we saw at Burlington. The photos - thanks!!

Bobby - with any car up to about 350-400Hp, the 8" is all you need in a light car. The only downfall that I see - the center sections are getting harder to find then the nines. I have a couple I can't even give away though. The ratios aren't exactly performance, but the cores are great. They'll probably go to the big dumpster at the transfer station along with a couple good empty early 351W blocks:CRY::CRY:

Don - you have to stop writing books unless you can make some big bucks as a fiction author like Dan Brown or James Patterson and have someone else do your wiring. The book writing takes too much time out of your teenage life.

Dave my brother lives in W.V. near Charleston and geez were they dumped on this winter . I seen pics as much as 18 inch's of snow fall . Nephew had to go down the road with a chain saw to get thru :eek: his road is one lane about 2 miles or so to main road . .

Shipping the 8 inch chunks to here as peg leg units make it expensive still . Now if they were posi well worth shipping cost , we can always change the ratio .

IC2, I know moving is not much fun and you really ought to try to bring one rear and one 351 block with you for spares. I lost some stuff I wish I had back in the last move. Anyway Roanoke is closer than NY state so maybe we will eventually share a visit. I think I used the cold months well on the new book and I am coming around the bend now so maybe I can finish the wiring over the Summer. I think all I have to do yet is install the electronic speedometer, get the vacuum line on the power brake and set up the carb linkage so it is close to "almost"!

So, I finally got a little time to play with my car today. I started by trial fitting the rear seats I bought a while back. They are rear seats from a '05 GTO. They're the right width and I think they're going to look pretty cool and they are comfortable too. Now I need to fabricate some mounting brackets, setup the seatbelts, etc. My plan is to get front seats with integrated shoulder harnesses so I don't have to fabricate mounting plates on the door post. The '02 and newer BMW convertible has some really nice ones and the shoulder harness isn't a big, obnoxious thing like some of the other integrated harnesses. I hope to find a set in like-new condition then I'll recover the back seat to match. There is a lot of other work to do before that happens but it makes sense to plan ahead.

If the Beemer seats are Recaro's - they are nice plus well built based on the ones I have. I have to say - the mounting brackets will take you some time to build. I have lots of hours doing mine - then not using those seats. Oh well, fooling with hobbies isn't supposed to be equated to hours of effort

Hey....great to hear from you guys!! I check the site every day so I'm keeping up with your various posts. I had been stalking these rear seats on ebay and various places for a year & a half because the measurements seemed just right and I thought they might look pretty cool in my car but they were always a little more than I could afford. Then about 4 months ago a guy was parting out a wrecked GTO on craigslist. I got the back seat with seatbelts and side armrests for $100. I jumped on it but had my front fenders & stuff store inside the car so I didn't take the time to test the fit till yesterday. I'm stoked!!

Dave - moving to VA sounds like a daunting task! Are you going to follow the moving van in your little yellow rod and make a pleasure cruise out of the trip? :D

Mike - get busy sanding! Sore arms & sweaty shirts are no big deal. I have them everyday at the gym! :LOL:

Hopefully, it won't be so long till my next progress post. I'm looking for a taller geared third member so I can get the rear end buttoned up and back on the ground. My last project has been swapping the rear springs, lowering the rear end, adding a rear swaybar, etc. The current pumpkin has 2.75 gears in it which will probably be a little ridiculous with a .68 5th gear! With 29" tires I'm looking at 3.89 gears which would still give me low cruising rpms at 70mph. Anyway, more on all that later.
