 Well today was good and bad for sheet metal. All started out good but went bad. I was repairing the right side rear cab corner and all was good til I discovered that I failed to get the roundness in the cab. Got it all welded in and it was going straight down instead of having a curve. Had to replace the rusted metal inside and the outside of the lower 2" . After some cutting and welding it ended up like this. I guess a little lead will be added.

 Repairs look great and these old rides need our attention to get their best times back . Had someone do the repairs on my 37 and I am going to end up cutting them loose and remeasuring it all to square it up properly . Navy keep up the good work and try to stay after it when your time is free for it .

 It's really coming together nice! That rust repair is the hardest on a project for me. Because it takes the longest to do correctly it seems.  Ryan

 Nice looking motor. I know some folks will howl but I agree with you on the 600 being "large" for the 283. But I also think the 390 will be small. I use a Barry Grant 525 cfm and am probably one of the few who will praise the carb! It's extremely responsive and very tuneable. I have had the same carb on my stock 302 and now 347 stroker, it's size has given it a good balance between power and economy also.
 
 Don't discount the choice if you find one, you could be pleasantly surprised...

 The 600 might be a tad too big, but with 60 or 61 jets in the primary and a spring kit for the secondaries it should run just fine.Ken Thomas

 Keep in mind that for street use you will be on the primaries 90+% of the time and that effectively makes it a 300!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 If I was going to design a carb it would be a spread bore in reverse----bigger primaries and some smaller seconaries to kick in for passin gear!!!!!!!!!
