    stovens: start with poster board paper and with practice you'll be able to do it too. Thanks for the complement.

    Well today was good and bad for sheet metal. All started out good but went bad. I was repairing the right side rear cab corner and all was good til I discovered that I failed to get the roundness in the cab. Got it all welded in and it was going straight down instead of having a curve. Had to replace the rusted metal inside and the outside of the lower 2" . After some cutting and welding it ended up like this. I guess a little lead will be added.

    Repairs look great and these old rides need our attention to get their best times back . Had someone do the repairs on my 37 and I am going to end up cutting them loose and remeasuring it all to square it up properly . Navy keep up the good work and try to stay after it when your time is free for it .

    It's really coming together nice! That rust repair is the hardest on a project for me. Because it takes the longest to do correctly it seems.

    The more rust you fix the more you have top fix just to make it all look as good as the rust you just fixed, soon its all new !

    Just About done with the engine. Waiting on my stainless steel bolts to come in. This is a 283 bored .060 over, HEI dist. and a air gap manifold. I have a 600 cfm Holley but want a 390 cfm Holley for this motor, 600 is just to much. Anybody have a 390 they want to trade ?

    Nice looking engine, those 283's were popular when I was in high school, small enough for sleeper cars, with lots of hidden horse power! And I like the orange and black combo, gives it a mean look!

    Nice looking motor. I know some folks will howl but I agree with you on the 600 being "large" for the 283. But I also think the 390 will be small. I use a Barry Grant 525 cfm and am probably one of the few who will praise the carb! It's extremely responsive and very tuneable. I have had the same carb on my stock 302 and now 347 stroker, it's size has given it a good balance between power and economy also.

    Don't discount the choice if you find one, you could be pleasantly surprised...

    The 600 might be a tad too big, but with 60 or 61 jets in the primary and a spring kit for the secondaries it should run just fine.

    Keep in mind that for street use you will be on the primaries 90+% of the time and that effectively makes it a 300!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    If I was going to design a carb it would be a spread bore in reverse----bigger primaries and some smaller seconaries to kick in for passin gear!!!!!!!!!
