Cam is from Lunati Roger but yes gonna set it up off the can card

:o:o Sorry, in #1 I read "...Comp chain & gears..." and jumped to the assumption that you had a package.:o:o My bad, but my question was more are you planning to put a degree wheel on it, indexed to true TDC and verify the valve action against the cam specs from Lunati, which you've confirmed. Some folks think "setting up the cam" means simply lining up the zero marks on the two gears and buttoning things up with a prayer that it's right.
in post 1641 you said you had marked the alternator pulley????????? whats that got to do with the crank/cam timing????A wheel that isn't on the crank won't work reliably because there are too many factors for it to get out of phase with the crank even if its a timed/tooth belt-------
Not really my place, but I'm going to toss out a possibility, as I seem to recall that there is a single V pulley at the crank, behind the toothed pulley which is dedicated to driving the alternator which is low to the driver's side. If my memory is right (too lazy to search back to find a post reference) then that pulley would indeed be "...the alternator pulley".
Sorry if I'm off base or interfering, Steve.
that would be a crank pulley that drove the alternator-pulleys are named by where they are mounted----I thought he meant that he had timing marks on the pulley on the alternator that he was using as timing reference (would necessitate one to one drive ratio) because of all the congestion around the c rank makes it hard to see any timing marks-----------
Looks good and good luck getting it set up. I really like your new alternator drive pulley with the timing marks on it.
Found some time yesterday to fettle the garnish mouldings to a nice fit, A tip for customers fitting these is they were moulded off originals so if you look carefully the original screw hole locations are moulded into them. I just drilled out and used some stainless posidrive screws but I intend to replace with stainless slotted screws over the next few days as they look much better.
We also hope to have front & rear garnish mouldings available very soon.

The garnish moldings fit their spaces perfectly, which you'd expect with the molds pulled from original metal but still it says something for your craftsmanship, and I really like the diamond pleat panels. I like little oval head screws with a countersink head for that location. With the right countersink in the molding they're flush around the edge but stand very slightly proud with a bit of crown, and I like the Phillips head over slotted, but that's just personal preferences.
For us they're "Oval Head Phillips" in sheet metal screws, but "Raised Head Countersunk" makes perfect sense, too - Sheet metal screws, Phillips oval head - Bolt Depot
and they also come in slotted, but I much prefer the Phillips - https://www.boltdepot.com/Sheet_meta...head.aspx?nv=l
Something like this?
I like these stainless steel drill bits for countersinking stainless material, but not needed for fiberglass.

Well after what seems like weeks of backward steps last night at 9.45pm the Willys burst into life and ran like a champ I just hope it didn't frighten the neighbours too much
Fred came over yesterday at 3.00pm and we went back to basics and retimed the complete engine, as we suspected the problem was the markings on the crank timing gear, we set it all up again with the degree wheel and ignored the marks, it took a few hours checking and double checking and then triple checking but after checking for oil pressure etc etc it burst into life after one turn of the key just a bit of fine tuning on the carbs & dizzy to do now.
Huge thanks to Fred who sussed the problem and went beyond the call of duty to get it done ( I think he was as keen as I was to hear it run really )
Unfortunately no video just yet as the radiator is at the repair shop but when it returns will get some vid done
Heres a pic of it all stripped out

Heres a pic of the timing tape installed on the homemade pulley thingy.

Good news Steve. Now we can't wait to see it at the Nostalgia races!
Hooooraaaaaaay!! Great news to wake to this morning. Congrats on getting it back on track, and BTW the MSD tape on the Alternator Pulley looks grand, too!!
I'm looking forward to some video!
I managed to get a short video done, not very long as the radiator isn't back till tomorrow and I didn't want to get too much heat in the motor but it gives you an idea.

Sounds VERY healthy and worth the wait & work
Awesome news and it sounds like it's ready to rip the track a new surface!!!
Thanks guys, i'm pretty stoked with it, I get the rad back this morning so will fit and put front panels back on and maybe go for a short ride :3dSMILE:
.
Real kool,Steve.. Good to see it's getting closer to the road.. Looking forward to seeing some video of it on the strip,too..
short ride? Like a 1/4 mile :LOL::LOL::LOL:
Update and a good one for a change :3dSMILE: after various annoying little problems the motor is now pretty much dialed in and running pretty sweetly now, unfortunately I missed Dragstalgia which I was really disappointed about
I took it out for a quick drive up the road and everything seems fine but i'm not convinced about the front brakes, you have to stomp on them pretty hard to get it to stop, a quick call to Wilwood and I found out they now do a narrow forged Dynalite caliper which would more or less replace the Vectra calipers I am already using, result !!! It would mean new caliper brackets but that wasn't gonna be a big deal.
Calipers turned up in 3 days :D but I hadn't thought of adding brake pads to my order :( so back onto them and they arrive tomorrow :3dSMILE: The pics below tell the story and I also changed the brake flexis to Black, still 100% stainless but with a black over lay, looks better I think. The Wilwood writing on the calipers is gonna have to go though.

WOW they look like twice the stopping surface
They look very nice on there! Great work on the mounting brackets!!!
Well the brake pads turned up on time so we bled the brakes and got a nice pedal, the pads need bedding in as they are the hard green type.
It was nice and quite outside today (for a while ) so a quick trip up the road was in order to test the brakes All was good and Sue did a short video without me knowing so here it is

WoooooHooooo. Way to go Sue. Looks and sounds great Steve! Can't wait to see this one at the strip!
Well I'm amazed Steve, where were all the neighbourhood kids, young and old, racing down the footpath too get a good close up look at " That Neat Car " from down the street. Hell anywhere else in the world you could of filled a grandstand with bystanders just attracted to that mighty sound, oh well, I suppose it is hard to compete against boring girlie sport called football aye. The car looks and sounds bloody perfect for us petrolheads...
Sounds fantastic. :)
Still doing minor changes to the car, changing bits i'm not entirely happy with, one of these was the solid engine mounts, I gave them a try but couldn't live with the vibes to be honest so I picked up a pair of hockey pucks which I drilled out, I also turned up a couple of aluminium cups for the pucks to sit in and it gives a bit of side support to stop them squishing out sideways.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...pszj7a8noi.jpg
I also changed the rear windows, I originally had 1/4" acrylic but was never happy with the look, they seemed too thick, anyway I changed them for 1/8" and now they look much better.

Great work. It sounds and looks amazing! I was shocked too no one was out trying to see the super bad ride out on the town street. That hockey puck is a great idea and I'd love to steal your idea.
I'm starting to think this car maybe cursed Sorted everything for the Supernats until today , Willys all fine and on the button but on the home some little scrote on a scooter hit my car at 40mph, couldn't believe the damage a scooter could do !!! Car is a writeoff as airbags gone off and all sorts of damage
I tried to hire something with a towbar but nothing available, at 1800hrs I had all but given up hope but I got a call from Dave the MOT guy who said he had a Transit with a hook I could borrow , this meant 2 trips, one with the trailer tent and one with the car, not too bad I thought on the way back from picking up the Transit I got a text from Mister Tee on here saying he could detour and tow the trailer tent for me
So Cinders will go to the ball
I can't thank Dave & Mo enough for helping out, its great to have such wonderful friends, thanks guys.

Sorry to see about your accident. At least everyone was ok. (Not killed)
he hit both those cars??????????
What the heck was he doing? Trying to go between the cars?
