Steve,
I'm not familiar with the term "pro light". How is it wired in the system, and for what function? I'm familiar with the adjustable shift light, set just below redline, but not a second light. I'm showing my ignorance again, but that's OK....

Post 1471.....Just thinking that the stainless will turn a bit blue with heat. Guess that's just chrome. Some of the ISAC cars couldn't compete for awards if they wouldn't start them. I never could see building a car that you couldn't or wouldn't use. You got to be about nuts waiting for those heads..
Charlie your not wrong pal, the heads are driving me nutz !!! Got an email 2 weeks ago on the saturday saying they were ready to ship, then on the monday they told me one of the heads had to be redone as it had broke through to the water jacket :(
I've more or less written racing it off this year now
.
Been amusing myself sorting all those pesky little jobs while I await my heads, one job thats been bugging me is the edge of the doors where the windows are, been looking for a rubber trim for ages, found a few close ones but no cigar until I saw one in the Baines Rubber catalogue, sent for 4 metres and it fits absolutely spot on !!! Even fits nice around the tight corners, I stuck it place here and there with some contact adhesive.

looks like a Factory job as usual
Very nice!
Changed my prop loop, I had a flat bar type that was like a big oval but it looked a bit crappy, So made a bolt in jobbie, It looks heavy but its not as a lot of it is 3/32 plate.

Sweet looking new loop. Also nice find on the window seal. At some point I'll have to address same issues with truck, but way down the road I think! :)
Great work on your new bracket! I admire how you build these pieces and seem to always put a spin on them but make them look like a manufactured piece.
Well very little to do now, just scratching around looking for stuff really, Got an email on monday saying my heads have finally been shipped, with a bit of luck i will have them saturday morning. Was hoping to make the Hotrod drags with a bit of luck.
Treated myself to a couple of Stewart Warner mechanical gauges, Fuel pressure on the left & Boost gauge on the right.
http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...ps72400aa3.jpg44
Had to fit a fuel gauge isolater as fuel not allowed inside car in drag rules, the isolator can't be fitted on the firewall as that not allowed either, Mounted it to the firewall tube, plumbed them in with stainless hoses.

Steve is the isolator a type of pressure sending unit?
Hi steve, no not really, you can't have fuel inside the car so the fuel goes as far as the isolator, then the isolator uses a diaphragm to pass the pressure to the other side, then the line from the isolator to the gauge is filled with 50-50 antifreeze/water.
Hope that makes sense ?
.
Yep, a liquid pressure guage only usuing antifreeze in vehicle to gauge!
Heads here (there) yet
Woo Hoo my heads arrived today exactly on time, not bad at all when you consider they were still in SoCal on monday afternoon !!! now the first race begins !!! it will be tight timewise but hope to get it to HRD's
They are really nice and I had hoped to get them painted this afternoon but as usual its pi$$ing down with rain !!!

Man lets make some noise
Put the bank holiday monday to good use and got my heads painted, my Titan head gaskets should arrive tomorrow so hopefully will get them bolted in place.

BLING a LING a Ling! Sparkling ;)
Somebody asked why don't I just nail it together quick !!! Well everything needs to be put together and clearances checked, Last night this was typified by a clearance problem on my roller rockers, 3 of them are scraping the valve spring retainer, I think I have the problem solved by installing a spacer under the rocker shaft supports and use a slightly longer pushrod or buzzing a bit off the rockers, I've emailed the supplier to see what they suggest.

http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...ps02de2130.jpg
Had a slight accident last night with one of the roller lifters, It won't hold me up though as there is already a replacement due here on saturday.

I assembled the motor with stock gaskets to check piston to valve clearances and everything was fine and will put it all back together tomorrow night for the last time.
Here is how its looking put together, still not made my mind up what to do with the valve covers but they can stay natural until I do.

Steve, are those ProForm Rockers?
looks good Steve, but just like a lot of parts that need a slight "tune-up" before they're ready for use!!!!!
used to be that a set of rat tail files was needed for most things in hot rodding
I am afraid that your choice of engine will continue to haunt you til well past Halloween----------
At least the rockers are marked where you need to remove material---------really tho, this is a fairly common issue with leading edge develop of different engine packages
whats the over drive ratio on the blower??????
Well my Head gaskets turned up bang on time so the top end was stripped off for final assembly, all clearances were fine and everything worked like it should so it can now go back together for the last time
I thought i would post a pic of the SCE Titan copper gaskets, they are really clever bits of kit as they are fitted with O rings which save a lot of expensive machine work on the block.

Well the problems keep arising !!! ran into another one today, heads are now all torqued down and I wanted to address the rocker fouling issue but after stripping the shafts down I found the base of the shaft assembly was fouling the head studs !!! I think whats happened here is it was made for an engine with head bolts as there small recesses for the bolt heads to go into, as i'm using ARP studs which use a parallel washer and a thicker nut the recess needed to be bigger all round.
Anyway an hour on the mill sorted it all out and they both sit down nice now.
I started by doing a single pass with a 5/8" cutter but it wasn't enough

That's a fairly common occurrence when mounting those type rocker assemblies on several engines----FE ford engines especially---got to clear the hardware used, generally will clear OEM, but nearly everyone that goes to rockers like that have head studs that stick up too far-----
Hi Steve, that engine is coming together nice and we look forward to the video of it running both at start up and at the drags. I visited another forum last night and still a wee bit shocked as to what may happen there with your build thread over there. Well let me tell you mate, you have a heap of appreciated keen as mustard chaps here waiting for your every post so keep at it sir.
stuff like that is why I had 4 milling machines---still have 2 now that my stuff is here at home in the garage and besides my guns, the welder, bandsaw and milling machines will be the last to go-------------
I thought I would mention that although i've had a few fitment problems along the way the support & advice & help I have received from Marty & JW at Maximum Torque Specialities has been absolutely first class, I would highly recommend them.
.
My moly pushrods turned up ok, not bad at all 3 days from California !!!, This enabled me to do all the final assembly last night, its now ready for installing on saturday. had to put it on a more heavy duty stand as it was a bit springy on the other one !!!
It looks much bigger out of the car for sure, stood there looking at it and suddenly realised I had forgot something How the hell was I gonna put the oil in when i made the valve covers I had forgot to put in an oil filler !!! Luckily in the scrap box was an aluminium filler I had made years ago and not used, unfortunately the screw cap had a hole in it so a bit of flat aluminium was cut round to cap it off, next problem was my Tig was playing up on AC (not been 100% since I had it repaired) so I set off to my mate Garys who had just got a new Miller tig welder (a lovely bit of kit too). I now need a new Miller tig
Got the filler neck welded in and the cap capped off, got home and thought i'm gonna try my Tig on AC again, found the problem straight away, when they repaired it they put in a new penetration/cleaning control which now works back to front I've been adjusting it the wrong way Happy its working fine now though.
