dash cover back in. No more hose & clamps. I feel safer with this set-up by my shin. I've seen some ugly footage of those clamps letting go.

The forth compressor (cheap) finally bit the dust. Decided to go ahead and buy IR 2 stage wi intercooler. It does seem to run cooler....but I still have moisture in the lines. Guess its time to run an array of pipe in the shop to help combat the condensation. The dessicant system just isnt big enough to do the job. I was actually looking at a refrigerant drying system....but ouch they are pricey! What do you guys do? A simple stepped pipe system? I really didnt want pipe all over the walls but I'm tired of line moisture.

Dave, I use pipes, just plain old gas line work s great. I have a couple drop lines with drains on them, then about 10 feet away a moisture trap...

Dave, I have a refigerated dryer that I got from a job site; I replaced one from a pnuematic HVAC control system on a four story building. I took the old one home and put in a new compressor. It works good if you remember to drain the water collector.

Nice fab work! Must be fun making stuff on that machine. Your welds look great to me!:cool:

I found a link somewhere in the net last year where a guy used a transcooler....but he plumbed the drain to the dump valve. Wouldnt you know...now I cant find it. I found a TCI engine oil cooler (18X8X1.5...ish) with 1/2 NPT threads. Thought about trying that. Dave.....did you just make a bunch of bends in the tubing and fabricate a sort of radiator without the fins? Falconvan....think a A/C condensor would work? I have a resource that might be able to give me a condensor out of a 5 ton unit. I know nothing about A/C but assume the condensor is under conciderable pressure?

I dont think it would; Most dryers are pretty small tonnage wise. You'd have a hard time finding an evaporator that would work with a 5 ton unit for that application. Also, most dryers use r-134 which is a lower temperature range refrigerant than r-22. I have seen one made from a water fountain, though. He ran the air through the water side of the evaporator and put a drain on the bottom of the evaporator shell. It worked fairly well if i remember correctly.

Duely noted Falconvan. Sounds like I need a water fountain. LOL's. This time of the year it'll be hard to raid a water fountain without raising suspension. :D I found a place that I may be able to get an inline unit for the industry without a jobber account. Fairly inexpensive.

For those who have been following the saga of my '71 Ford pickup, Jim got my headliner done last week and I put it in the other day....It's drop dead gorgeous!!!! Seat should be done next week and I'll put up some pics of the finished (finally) interior!!!! Not exactly a record setting project time wise, I started building the truck 17 years ago, Jim started on the upholstery 6 years ago!!!!! Seems we both have a couple too many irons in the fire. When done, the truck will be up for sale.... Hopefully I can get the racer-back fairing and tailgate finished up soon, too. Fuel tank is almost welded up and ready, just started on it a year ago though....:LOL::LOL::LOL: Here's a pic of the outside for all the new arrivals at CHR....
