Dave see the Maro in the back with new 1/4s . Old Mopar looks good shouldn't take you to long to get it ready . The 36 looks like you have most the body work complete .
Spent the day getting right Stang fender done , found a couple small dents . Well its primed and needing sanded and re prime .
Tried the new HVLP with a 2.3 tip , I will say it is taking me a bit to set it up first spits then dry . I think it will need more then the 20 lbs I had on it . But it is a learning process since I am so used to conventional guns /
Well had a great deal come thru . The previous owner used a liquid wrench to cut the firewall out . To say the least he was shaky and didn't use a straight edge . This replacement came by cheap and very usable . Local Illinois guy with a 31 roadster replaced this with a stock one . Makes me a very easy fix to a bigger problem .

Bobby - it looks like a Brookville. Until you get everything in place, I suggest that you don't weld it in place. I had to make a lot of mods to mine and since Brookville did a "final" assembly, my mods to fit the engine/transmission were very difficult - everything just kinda hangs out in the breeze and nothing to measure against except trial and error. Great find though as it is a repro of the OEM though it does make other items hard to fit up besides what I said above.

Dave I am going to dissect it and only installing the center . I will leave my original all attached around its out side . I wont use more then is needed once I cut the original straight.
Bobby - the new one isn't difficult to install. Get the tank off along with the wrap around chrome strip, sand the paint in the wider of the grooves in the cowl uprights so you can see where it's welded, then drill out those spot welds on the sides as well as the rivets at the bottom and out come the old. IMO, a lot easier then trying to cut and snip, paste and tape the old one that already has too many holes that need plugging. I did that with the sedan that I had then sold the OEM fire wall for a few bucks though yours looks like almost scrap iron:CRY:. By doing it that way and with fitting the trans tunnel and trimming the firewall with it as a removable piece really make the job easier - especially if you can get it on a bench. The original 'A' didn't have much of a trans tunnel and for me to fit my 5.0 with a C4 (or for that matter any tranny, you have to do a fair amount of trimming on the bottom recessed piece - even if you use wood floorboards which I didn't.
This is a photo (ugly at this point) of what a 5.0 and a C4 look like with mods to the firewall. Then another showing the other side (no so ugly) when I assembled the body to the frame. Cramped:eek: Neither, unfortunately, show the trans tunnel in place - but it was a challange.
Dave when this was removed it was not to save so Free was the price . My original is in fantastic shape with the original tag that I like where it is .There where no holes drilled in it yet so only the original equipment is there . Sectioning this in is a piece of cake leaving the original spots on the exterior of the firewall . Once the firewall is cut and cleaned and i fit the new section in you will never know it was done .

I was so excited to get to spread some mud.....now I'm getting tired of it. :LOL::LOL: Still working on Dustin's cowl hood. I think that I'm just about ready for some 2K and find myself spreading another thin layer of poly fill. Oh bugger!
And I'm really eyeballing the 36 again. I want so bad to work on it.

Well, it's another small step but I figured I better dust my small part of this thread off. Looks like everybody is makin' progress but me.

I cut the bottom of the glove box to the contour of the intercooler and glassed it in place.

Flipped it over, cleaned up all the overlaps & danglin' tabs and gave it a couple layers of cloth to hold it together.

Got it roughed in to a 100 grit state & gave it a light coat of primer

I think I'm going to stop here. I'll do the finish work later when I'm ready for final paint. This little project took months (a few minutes here and there). I think I'll work on the engine compartment for my next project. I have a header tube clearance problem to address and then I'll start reconstruction of the firewall. Hopefully I can pick up the pace some on that deal.....

The more I LQQK at the intercooler in this pic. I'm thinking I might change the outlet tube connection to a bolt together joint instead of the hose clamp set-up. I can see that thing blowing off taking the dash with it. That might be bad for me knee & ears too. :-[

Not being a drag racer just a car guy , but isn't the auto faster shifting into gear then a stick would be . I know if the right guy is driving a stick it can be done but i think that talent is diminishing from all the auto's being installed .
Popular line of thought.... But then all the Pro Stockers run 5 speeds...... I just like having 5 gears, keeps the engine in that peak power area a lot longer then the glides and 3 speed automatics.... 5 speed and cluth is also a lot more tuneable for changing track/weather/hook conditions.....

I had some time this weekend & I decided I'd get the hose & clamp set-up replaced. I pulled out the old slab of aluminum and started whittlin' away.

Flipped one over & cut an o-ring groove

cleaned them up on the lathe & cut the mating surfaces for a nice air tight fit.
