Everybody that is currently building a car...

Autometer it is. Got the gauges picked out I think. Today I downloaded the ones I want off the net, sized em' to the specs on the site & printed the faces out on the printer. Then I cut some PVC gauge housings on the CNC. They are a little deeper than the actual gauges but that'll insure I have ample room for the real deals down the road. The 5" tach & speedometer might or might not work. Might have to downsize to the smaller ones, but I want to try & get these in there if possible. Old geezers need big numberz'. Now I can make a bezel. That outta' keep me busy for awhile.

Make em fit, Pro!!!! Old eyeballs need every advantage they can get!!!! Especially in a quick pass car, takes big gauges with big numbers to be able to keep an eye on things!!!! Other thing that might be nice is if you had a place to build in a small pod in the dash for a shift light and an oil warning light. When you're at the track you don't have to even bother looking down then..... Us geezers get distracted easy, too!!!!!!:LOL: :LOL: :LOL:

The gauges have idiot lights on them that you can adjust to where you want them to light up. I hope to put the shift light on the steering column right behind the wheel so it's in my face. :LOL: :LOL: For a little added protection, the guy building the engine sells a box that monitors Oil pressure, boost, etc., etc. and if anything goes haywire it dumps the boost. Might even tap me on the shoulder & tell me to pull over. :LOL: :LOL:

Kewl, didn't see the lights.... Will they light up bright enough that you can see them in the daylight????

I hope so. I'll have to check them out @ the track this summer. Autometer is always there for the bigger events. At least with the mock ups I can get working on the bezel.

Yup, good plan!!!!! I run the amber shift light and just below, shaded by a 1/2 cover, a red oil pressure light!!! If it gets so I can't see that big red light, I'll have to teach my seeing eye dog to bark once when the shift light comes on, and bark twice if the oil light comes on!!!!!!:eek: :eek: :LOL: :LOL:

I can dig ANY speedometer that goes up to 200MPH! These should look really good; excellent choice.
Here's an interesting story; I'm in Bible study class with my wife yesterday and the preacher is talking about different interest, hobbies, etc, that we have in our lives and how we have to be careful not to let them become too high on the priority list. "Who wants to talk about one of their hobbies?", he says. My wife starts jabbing me in the ribs and when I don't say anything, she finally points at me. So I break down and talk about how I ocaisionally like to work on old cars.:rolleyes: Some other people talk about their hobbies and the class ends after about an hour. When we're leaving, a little old guy comes up and starts talking cars. After a few minutes of swapping stories he says,"I've got a 48 Dodge two door thats been in my garage for the last 16 years. I was going to restore it but will probably never get the time. I'd like you to have it if you want it." I was blown away by this guys generosity. I told him I'd be happy to pay him for it but he wouldn't hear of it. I haven't seen it yet but plan to go scope it out this week. What a nice guy! And thanks to the wife for making me open my mouth.

Well , I’m just finishing up a little refab , since I have all this out, and couldn’t stop, kinda work on my 48 Plymouth Coupe. This started 3 yrs ago when it came home. I just thought I would reweld the R&P unit in it to make it a little safer. But for some reason I couldn’t stop there. The motor came out, firewall cut out, front floor out, dash out, all wiring, R&P unit and brackets, ect…… But after 3 long years, I am on home stretch. Mostly back together. Small things are waiting till I get the exhaust done and do some short hard drives. I wanna hit a ton of shows and cruise in’s. I feel like I have had cabin fever for years.

Nice gauges Pro, those will look reeally good when installed. Fast just sitting there.

Does anyone know where I put the windshield seal for my '71 pickup???? Just took the dang thing out 17 years ago and already I can't find it!!!!!

Probably in a box, on a shelf, with something else covering it. Maybe.
