Everybody that is currently building a car...

A little refreshment is okay, I am usually too busy and it sits and gets warm. I find myself getting lost in wrenching itself, sometimes I'll be at the shop for 6 hours and it feels like I wasn't there 6 minutes! Not much for the fridge I guess, get a better buzz off of the car. Thats one thing getting old can't take away.

Heading back in the morn to fire up the green monster again, the torque converter was leaking thats what was wrong. New TC in and with a few attachments in the am it should fire up. Then it is time for my dart.

Brick rule is allways after working thats when a cool one goes good with air . . Getting deep in work is allways better too. The light work is relaxing and the big work wears me out sometime.

WOW again!!!
I can hardly believe that beautiful coupe is mine. My work on the chassis doesn't even come close to the fine job Dave is doing on the body. All I can hope for is that when I bring the chassis out to him is that he will steer me in the right direction (hope I don't have to re-do everything):o

:LOL: :LOL: :LOL: It's not even close to nice yet, Tom!!!! I'm going to let the primer set up for awhile, then start blocking and see how much more work I have to do..... This primer is just to help an old blind man see how things are coming along..... Still a lot of blocking till it's ready to shoot. I also got the POR 15 on the rest of the inside of the car, hope to have all 4 fenders ready by the end of next week....

How did you apply the por-15 on the inside. I have used it in the past when it first came out and I brushed it on. I have heard that it will spray on even better.

Coupe is looking great Dave.

No, No, on the 5 spd. :whacked: I'm too lazy. :D push a botton a couple times is more my speed. :LOL: :LOL:

This time I brushed it on, wanted to work it into all the little nooks and crannies to seal them up a bit too... But I've sprayed it, too.. Seems to work equally well either way.....

Thats what I noticed when I brushed it last, so much easier getting into the hard to reach areas. I just didnt have much luck getting all the brush strokes out of it. It was a floor board so it really didnt matter. I have heard it can be sprayed out smooth, so I was just curious.

If I'm putting POR 15 on something I want to have a really smooth appearance, I brush the edges, then load up the gun and shoot the rest. Another thing I've learned with using POR 15, is that after you have applied it, then wait till it is in the almost dry, but still a bit tacky stage you can spray a coat of Epoxy Primer over it. Once the whole thing dries and cures out, you can work it and paint it just like any other surfacing.... Had some issues getting primer to have good adhesion over POR 15 if I wait till it is totally dry....

What you are doing is cross linking molecularly the two paints at the tacky stage. When POR-15 is dry, you need to give it a good sand with 320-400 to give the primer some tooth to adhere to the -15. (my luck with POR-15 sucks, so I don't use it except on cleaned but formerly rusty but fairly rough areas)

I've just never had any luck getting good adhesion after the POR 15 is dry, even after trying to scuff the stuff when it's hard as a rock!!!!... I've found that if a bare surface is scuffed good, like with 36 grit, and the POR 15 applied it sticks great!!!! Almost impossible to get it off once it's dryed!!!!

Manufacturer says after 12 hrs nothing is going to stick permenently, but if you primer the por 15 with ectching primer after a couple hours and let them bond. Then you can paint anytime you want and it will stick. I got that from the POR 15 Info site. I have done this and it has worked for 3 years so far.
