Last pieces sanded; finished the hood, fenders, and primered the gravel pans. Now for a few nights of touch up to some nicks and scratches and I can start hanging plastic.

Nice work and you made a good call on taking the front clip apart. This coupe is going to look totally different real soon!
Last shot in primer; color goes on tomorrow!
Cool! Can't wait to see it all "Give me a Ticket" RED! You've done great work on this one.
I was gonna call it Citation Red! rofl...
If it was a newer car, I might agree with you guys on the "Citation Red" thing but since it's an old one, if they pull you over it's often because they just wanna look at it....:D
When my '37 was a darker red (and running:rolleyes:)) I did get pulled over a couple of times and yes I was speeding. The officer acknowledged my speeding but said he just wanted to check out the car.....Whew!:LOL:
One good thing about being gray-headed is that the cops know your days of being a rebel are pretty much gone! :)
VERY happy to be at this point!:D
Yeah, I think my ride is becoming "known". The other day I was headed through town and jumped on a road that has a 50mph speed limit, but is straight as an arrow and often sees some "excessive speeds". I was going maybe 55mph, and looked up and saw the oncoming vehicle flashing his lights at me, which I took to mean "Radar Ahead!!" Surprise, surprise the lead vehicle was a County Sheriff, and as he went by he was giving me a "Down" signal, as in "Slow Down, Bud!!" I'd already dropped speed, but looked back and saw him U-turn a car back, thinking "Oh crap, he's going to come after me!!" Nope, he closed in on the guy who was following me, who had been closing the gap quickly as we met the Sheriff, and he rode his bumper for a mile or two and then turned when he turned.:D:D
The red is looking great!! It'll be attracting attention, for sure!!
Looks good!!!!
So really how many times have you walked back out just to look at it :LOL:
.
I can see where your going to use up all your gray haired benieys. Love red
That is really red. Please do my wagon next?
That is looking Sweet!! Can't wait to see it assembled. After you're done with the wagon.. I'm next with the coupe!:LOL::LOL::LOL:
I must have missed it but what color red is it?
Paint looks great Falcon, nicely done and a good color!
Thanks! It's Corvette-Monza Red from TCP Global.
Here it is all unwrapped. There's a few spots of dirt to buff out and a couple minor runs to fix but all in all I think it looks pretty darn good. Next Im going to get some of the interior panels put back on and then get to work on getting the drivetrain ready to go in for good.
In a word............... NICE!
:3dSMILE:Wow thats RED! It looks great! Nice Job!:3dSMILE::D
Next order of business is to get the drivetrain ready to go back in. Ford has a fairly explicit recommended 60k and 120k service for these engines so I'm taking care of all that while it's out. Mostly it's getting new timing belt, outer gaskets and seals, cam seals, water pump, valve adjustment, and I'm checked bearing clearances.Everything looks really good but I'd rather check it while it's out. And it's getting a coat of paint, of course.
Don't want to scratch the paint job doing it later..
Nice power plant for the old Ford!
Whoops! Looks like a 51 Ford! Need to keep my companies straight!
Actually. this thread has covered a few different years! But I'm sure they were all mopars.
:) I kept thinkin tudor not mop-mordor!
FoPar! Classic!!.....rofl..
I guess MoFo could work, too....:LOL::LOL:
Comments overheard at a car show in the near future:
Wow! That MoFo is really RED!! Yeah, and check out the engine FoSHO!:LOL::LOL:
Alright, now that's funny!! LOL! I dont know if they'd let me in the church car show with that on the valvecover, though!
I got the bottom end buttoned up; I went ahead and changed rod bearings as they were out of spec but the rest looked good. Today it got all new front and rear main seals, cam seals, and a timing belt. Not too much more to do before it gets set back in the chassis.
It looks really nice! And the new paint looks awesome! I've been really happy with the TCP Global stuff. Do you like it as well? I like the MoFo too but I bet you're right and some people won't see the humor in it.
