Nice work Falcon. You are doing a great job narrowing that seat. When I put the running gear out of my GTO into the 34 I also used the back seat from the GTO for the rumble seat. I just cobbed it in the first time around but will fix it right for the rebuild in progress.:)

Here we are starting to float out the quarter panel; defiantly a few high spots to work over. I'm not totally sold on using this door, that's why I stopped stripping it for now. Once we get the main body done I might look for a better candidate; it's got some rust damage near the bottom. They do make a lower door skin, too.
We hung the other door so we can start fitting it and making sure everything lines up good. In the meantime I went back to work on the package tray, making a filler piece and finishing up the mounting brackets for it. I like it; I think it'll add a nice touch.
Next I'll narrow the seat base and start on the folding armrest.
Really do like the looks of the 'bird seat in the back, Falcon!!!! Per chance did you get the front buckets that match the back? The were a very comfortable seat to ride in!
I sure didn't, Dave. They were gone out of the car I got these from. I think I'm just going with the stock front seat but I have an idea to make it recline.
Great job. I can't wait to see it after you get that heater installed (the one you are using as a work bench):LOL:. I envy your dedication, hang in there.

Man, I can't believe the work you have done to this thing. I have been away from these boards for almost a year and glad to have found your build thread. I still haven't touched my 46 Chrysler Windsor 3 window coupe but looking back at this thread makes me want to run outside and get started on it.
Good to see you back! I just got back on this a few months ago but it's progressing pretty good now that I hired some help. Jump on that Windsor! I think you should go out there with your camera and your tools and start today. Post a build thread, it motivates you when people start asking why you havent posted any progress in a while.
I took the seat base today; sliced it in two and pulled four inches out of the middle. It looks like it will fit pretty good but I need to do some reinforcing and add a piece at the bottom front to make it tall enough. I've got it sitting on a piece of unistrut and that looks like just about the right height. Also I stripped the dash; the back of it had a lot of surface rust so I sanded that and coated with POR 15.
Por 15 is great stuff, but boy is it thin and drippy! It sticks great to whatever it lands on too, like my skin and the driveway!:LOL:
I used it for my frame and in order to try and get in all the little spots I could I sprayed it. I ended up with over spray on my face along the mask. Luckily I hadn't shaved for a couple days so I was able to hide it ok when I went back to work :LOL:
It's great stuff and you're right, don't get it on your skin! I laid on the floor and painted the bottom of the car with it yesterday and made sure I wore protection; hat, rubber gloves, long sleeves, goggles, and a mask. So what happened? I dripped a big glob right on my ear! I guess I'll have one ear with a big black racing stripe for a while cause it aint comin off! Anyway, the bottom is painted and I just need to go over it with some seam sealer to button it up. I also sanded all the old paint off the front of the dash. I'm hoping this week to bolt the motor and tranny together and start working out the motor mounts and steering. We've got one side of the car ready to primer and we're moving to the trunk sill area. I did a lot of patching back there so there's plenty of smoothing to do.

Anyway falconvan, love your sticktoitnism you have on the work you are doing. I get so easily distracted and move on to something else, then come back a couple of months later, and wonder where I left off, and where do I start back. Patience and sticktoitnism is not my strongest point.

arent those dots scratch off prizes? on their wedding nite the groom scratches it off to see if he has won a gas station, restaurant or a liquer store. dont quote me on that as i could be wrong.

The first order of business was to get an 89 Cavalier rack and pinion and hang it to approximate the location. The instructions are very good so it should go smooth. The next thing I saw was that I was missing several parts I needed to get so off to the bone yard for a set of Cavalier tie rods, hold downs, and the bolts. I don't think I've ever heard anything bad about a Fatman setup, and it sounds like you feel the same way.

That's what I think, too, Don. I've seen a few of the 46-48 Mopars set up with Fatman's kit and the reviews have been positive. I did have one guy tell me the turning radius was reduced slightly from stock but once he got used to it, it didn't bother him. They had it two ways; weld on front frame stub with all MII parts or the dropped spindles, disc brakes, shock relocation, and Cavalier rack on the stock front end. I hope I made the right choice; we'll see once it goes down the road.
Here's a couple shots of that seam sealer; I took the picture laying on my back so it's a little disorienting. Basically any welded seam got sealed; then I'll go back and paint over it once it dries.
I coated the entire under cab with Hurcliner Bedliner. I hope that will do the job of sealing off all the points that would be suspect to leak. I'll take another look to see if there are spots that might need caulk.
