Thank you, sir.
I got the sedan cut up today for the patch panels I'll need. Got the whole floor, cowl, and the tailpiece. I took Thursday and Friday off this week so it's time to start bodywork. It should keep me busy for a while, I'll keep posting progress.
Looks like the coupe will be moving on some repair here really fast . Good to have the spare metal around to put it together . The old sedan roof should sale out for some one thinking of doing a chop good sections in it to remove .
I tried to sell, nobody seems to want it. I guess I could try Evilbay. I'd give it away to get it out of the way.
1st try at fabricating inner rockers. Not too bad but it took all day to do 1 side, other than the 1 1/2 hours I spent picking up supplies.
Not bad for a days work . The other side will go quick now that you have some figures and shape all mapped out .
You're right, this side went much easier than the first. I had to go back to the other one and do it a little different, as a matter of fact. These "factory reproduction outer rocker panels" don't fit worth a darn. But I'll use them anyway. Everything you'll see looks Ok, just the bottom lip isn't bent right. More to come soon, I'm concentrating on getting the rockers and the floor finished first.
Looks good Falconvan! I'm sure you have, but make sure you measure everything over and over or else you'll have to cut it apart like i did and fix it when the doors wouldnt fit back in the openings.
I was afraid of that so I'm planning a test fit on the doors as soon as I get the other rocker done. That must have really hacked you off! I'd have been slinging tools everywhere in a fit of rage.
Gotta love those Sawzall's. Kurt
Best prescision tool on the planet. Next to the BFH, of course.
I worked with an ex marine who named all of his hammers. the one pounder was dubbed the intimadator, and the 8 lbs sledge was the terminator. I liked it so much that mine now sport the names on the handles. Makes me laugh and think of simpler days!:D
You are really getting into some serious work. It looks like you have it figured out pretty well. Good job.
Richard
Don't ya just love it when you have a cheese grader for a floor???
Looks like you're having fun now, remember measure 3x & weld once.
Don't know if you have one or not but if you lived closer I'd let you use the metal break a friend lent me to make your door rockers....joe
I need to go back and read this thread over but I saw 48 Plymouth and had to read it. I have a 46 Chrysler 3 window bus. coupe so of course I came here to see what you have. The metal on these cars a THIN as ice and the floors in mind look great with surface rust but they can be poked through with a screw driver still! I need to redo my floors like your doing here. I will definately keep up with this post. It's looking great though and you have a nice car! Even though these things look huge, the metal is thin but not a single flat panel on them so it keeps them rigid/strong and they weigh less than a Toyota Corolla supposedly. :D
This came out better than I'd hoped. Thanks for the comments, everyone! I finished the drivers rocker and test fit the doors. Both looked good. I took the whole floor section from the sedan and cut the sides back 2" and cleaned up the ends of the floor braces. Luckily enough, the sedan and the coupe floor measure the same from front to back. Then I cleaned up all the mating edges and slid it right into place. Now I just weld the whole thing all the way around. i still need to make front pans, those were bad on both cars.

falcon that looks like a good time, keep up the good work!!!
Thanks, Joe. I borrowed a $49.95 special from a friend. It actually worked OK but I wouldn't try to bent anything heavier than 16 Ga with it.Quote:

Nice job.:D
I wish I could get it done that quick. Probably more like summer 2010, realistically. But that's OK. I'll just keep pluggin away at it.Quote:

That's the fun part, taking your time and building it yourself and with your friends. Even if it takes a while, that's alright. I'm not knocking the guys who do it, but I don't think I could be one to hand it over to a professional shop and pay them build it. One, I could never afford it and two, I dont think you could get the same pride as when you do it yourself; even if it's not as perfect.
Most of the speed builds i think end up sold off right away . When we do it our self's we have a drive to keep it awhile when its done . I know this next one is my last one i am going down to 2 cars but i really would like to have a 33 or 34 someday . The wheeling and dealing is coming to a end hhmmm :D .
Who are you kidding, Bobby? You'll be doing it until you're dead; same as the rest of us. I hope you get your 33, though. I'm already planning my next project, too.Quote:

I gotta tell you, building that truck was a blast. I'm thinking along those lines but more refined. Something with a "T" or "A" based chassis with a slightly dropped front axle, some type of open roadster body. Real utilitarian with no chrome or new speed parts. I just happen to have another flathead six sitting here along with some kingpin spindles, a good steering box, an S-10 five speed...............Don't get me sidetracked, I gotta finish this one f1rst.;)
Falcon hhmm looks like you will have a big big shop soon . I see these are easy to get a start and move on maybe something i look into also . Once my life is back together if it ever is retirement and building could be in the future too .
But first stay on the coupe ideas are always of interest to me when someone is doing a car . Also gives me more get up and watch :3dSMILE: .
Oh Sunday should be a new pic up there on the left >
All I have to say is that Falconvan has motivated me by this build thread to get off my butt and get started on my 46 Chrysler. I have no money to put into it right now at all but I am going to work with what I have now and get moving on it. :D
I wish I had the bux and the time to do more but this darn full time job keeps getting in the way. I always wished I could run my own shop for a regular job but I think there's just too much capital investment needed to make a solid living. More than I've got, anyway. I'm not sure I'd enjoy it as much if I was building for other people, trying to keep deadlines, etc. Only 24 years till retirement, though. :3dSMILE: I'm pretty determined to keep on this one till the finish line. Speaking of your avatar pic, how's that one coming along?Quote:

Sounds like fun; how old is she?
She is 21 , she will have her school books studying but the company will be good .
Came home needed to bled the brakes out pedal was a little low and spongy , felt it more with the trailer on . Packed up the necessary tools and jack for the trip along with extra straps . Maps and directions in the tote bag should be ready for 6 am .
Have a safe drive and a warm winter Bobby.
Thanks Steve
Drive safe, Bobby, and enjoy your time with her. My daughter is 21, too; the second biggest love of my life. Dont forget to take pictures!
I didn't get near as much done as I would have liked. I spent most of the day stripping the 48 Dodge I'm parting out because I sold a bunch of stuff from it. I did get one side of the front floor patched and tacked in.
Hope this works but here it is Falcon trip went well 94 was messed up both ways . Falcon put em here for you to see hope you don't mind
